Starting with the Super-middleweights,which in recent years have had plenty white representation,Danny Green who is the WBC interm champ unifies the WBC belt against regular champ Markus Beyer next month.Mikkel Kessler is the WBA champ and Joe Calzaghe is the WBO,so 3 out of the 4 champs are white. The light-heavyweights have a couple of vacant titles. The WBC title will be filled with Tomasz Adamek up against Paul Briggs, both are white and the IBF vacancy will be filled with Rico Hoye against Colin Jones,Colin is white.Zsolt Erdei is the WBO champ and Fabrice Tiozzo is the WBA champ.Tiozzo fights former WBO champ Dariusz Michalczewski next month and both are white,so we could have all four champs being white guys. There no white cruiserweight champs, but Vassily Jirov was a recent cruiser champ and there are some decent white contenders in that division. In the heavyweight division we of course have Vitaly Klitschko and if Andrew Golota can beat Lamon"Punky"Brewster,he will be the WBO champ and should Wlady Klitschko beat Chris Byrd there would be 3 white champs out of 4.Things are looking pretty good.

My error on the IBF light-heavyweight fight.Rico Hoye will fight Clinton Woods not Colin Jones.I was thinking of the Welsh welterweight from the 80's,who by the way lost two disputed decisions to Milton McCrory in title fights, but that's neither here nor there.

Here are some results from this past week.Fabrice Tiozzo retained his tin against Dariusz Michalczewski with a 6th round stoppage.A barrage of shots put Dariusz away.WBO champ Zsolt Erdei retained his crown with a split verdict over Hugo Garay.Heavyweight teenager Denis Boytsov scored his fifth one round knockout in six victories, but remember Boytsov is still fighting tomatoe cans. Also on this same card bantamweight Wladimir Sidorenko won the WBA version of the title beating Julio Zarate. And finally Robbie Peden stopped Nate Campbell in the 8th to win the IBF jr.lightweight championship.Peden is an Aussie and know that county is starting to make a move in the boxing world.I particularly liked Sidorenko's and Peden's wins because you don't get too much white representation in the lower divisions.

Jeff Fenech was a terror in and out of the ring.Rumour had it that after one of his title defences against Tyrone Downs,Fenech won by KO,he won a couple of bar fights by KO as well.Guys would challenge him in bars or elsewhere and Jeff would willingly oblige.Fenech was as tough as they come and was a three division champion, bantamweight, featherweight and jr lightweight. He was known as the white Mike Tyson which is very ironic now because Tyson has enlisted Fenech as his trainer for his next fight.

Yeah, Fenech was a monster - I remember him having problems with one
of his hands that kept his title reign shorter than it should have been.
Too bad he's going to work with that idiot Tyson, but the money is
probably right.

An interesting fight took place last night as Danny Green took on Markus Beyer in a rematch for the latter's WBC Super-Middleweight title.Suprisingly,at least to me,Beyer retained his title on a close decision with scores of 114-113,115-112 and 114-114.After their first fight where Green decked Beyer twice within the first two rounds, only to be DQ'd for an intentional headbutt,I thought Green would win going away,But Beyer controlled the fight keeping Green off of him with quick combinations.I thing maybe Green washolding back a little so he wouldn't blow himself up to early,I guess it backfired.Green hurt Beyer late with a big uppercut and Beyer took a standing eight count but he was able to hang on for the win.Beyer has been unimpressive to me with a gift decision over Eric Lucas and actually lost his title briefly to Cristian Sanavia before winning it back from him.In another fight of note Timo Hoffmann won an unpopular decision over Bob Mirovic which was roundly booed by those in attendance.
