Syracuse coach Boeheim just had some interesting commments on ESPN just now. He said he has been getting alot of comments lately from critics and from the school newpaper that Gerry McNamara was overrated. He said it was the most bull#$#$ thing he's seen in thirty years and that Syracuse would not have won ten games this year without Gerry. He also dropped a f bomb in that interview describing his frustration about defending Gerry. Didn't he lead Syracuse to a national championship a couple of years ago? He had a phenominal tournament run. When you are small and white..and achieve stardom..everybody thinks you have to be overrated. They certainly won today because of Gerry with that sensational behind the back dribbling running threepointer at the buzzer through three defenders shot to win the game. Sorry for the rambling description.

I can't think of many white athletes that haven't been called overrated at one time or another. It's an epidemic. Of course if they are not overrated then their overachieving.

And sometimes they have a high motor and work harder than everybody else. That sounds like praise but if it doesn't come with a appreciation for the athletic talent of the athlete then it's another damning with faint praise kind of thing.

The behind the back dribble and the high arching leaning jumper over a much taller leaping player made that a very special shot. The crowd was chanting "Gerry, Gerry" after that shot. They don't think he is overrated.

Good comparison, He looks alot like Scott Skiles too! I haven't heard him discussed much as far as his potential draft status is concerned. He's got to be better than the Eric Snow's and Smush Parker's of the NBA.

He's been up and down all year, reaching the middle of the 2nd rd or not even being in the draft on a number of mocks. He's the type of player who I think will impress at the pre-draft workouts and will be drafted, then he just needs a good summer league and see if he can get on a team that will give him some playing time...

Gerry had another great game today leading his team to a upset over #1 UConn. He had 16 points, 13 assists, 5 rebounds and two steals. He must be overrated and lucky too! That syracuse freshman guard Eric Devendorf looks like a future star for Syracuse. He's a very creative dribbler and shot maker.

You gotta love the way this guy is playing. Between the last olympics tournament, Nash's MVP, Morrison and Reddick the caste system in basketball is tumbling down. McNamara is playing so great and with his coach calling out some of the local university traitors sportscenter even had to lead off with him tonight. I even heard the tail end of a discussion on espn2 talking about the changing face of college basketball (it's white). A Black guy was saying that next year Duke will probably start 5 Whites and have a chance to win the ncaa tournament if their players develop as expected. He said they can be the "White Texas Western".

WOW, I wish I could have heard that! I hope it happens though, more than hearing someone predict it.

Oh man "five starting whites" on a national championship team. That would be awesome! I would be happy with just a championship team that started three whites. We might get that this year.

I am watching a high school basketball game between an Indiana and Illinois basketball team. There is a kid on the Illinois team who is heading to Duke next year. He looks pretty impressive, if he doesnt start he should definitely see playing time.

It would probably almost have to be a incoming freshman or two. Maybe the one that KJV1 was talking about in the above post.

If Duke keeps getting whiter..imagine all the flak they are going to take and the whole "duke conspiracy" thing of getting all the ref calls will magnify.

Demarcus Nelson should start, ending the dream of a 5 white starting lineup for Duke.. but who knows, I hope they do.

What a run for G-Mac! This morning an ESPN analyst was given some air time to point out how G-Mac is not overrated. Of course he had to start his segment with the prerequisite phases of: "He's not the most athletic" and "But he's all heart".

All season they knocked his leadership abilities.. and how he just wasn't the same with Anthony or Warrick.. well, he's just a flat out winner... and he's proving now that he is a hell of a leader. Nice matchup in the final with Pitt where you'll get to see another white star on display... Aaron Gray.

He's always being knocked for his defense. He's 2nd all time at Syracuse in steals if the graphic shown during the game yesterday was correct.
