The Montreal Canadiens hockey club finally admitted that Georges Laraques was a demonic influence on their team, and a poor hockey player, and told him he would not play anymore this year. The Habs will "buy out" Laraque's contract. Laraque came out swinging, bitterly saying that coach Jacques Martin "didn't like him" and "doesn't believe in toughness."

Curiously, I read these quotes in an article posted at www.cbc.ca yesterday. This morning there is a different version of the article on the cbc website, much cheerier, without the direct quotes from Laraque. I wonder why.

It also came out that Laraques is of Haitian descent, and indeed has blood relative in the quake area.

Many US hockey fans recognize Laraque as a goon extraordinaire, a cheap-shotter who delivered injury as well as fight. He also was by far the most trash-talking Negro ever in the National Hockey League. I'm filled with admiration for Coach Martin and the Canadiens for getting up the gumption to remove Laraque, who is one of the all-time miscreants of pro sports. The Pittsburgh Penguins were intelligent enough, last year, to admit their mistake and get rid of Laraque. They were rewarded with a Stanley Cup victory!

Don Cherry on HNIC defended Laraques basically on the lines that Georges is a "victim" because of the horrible earthquake tragedy in Haiti. Georges has taken it "really hard." No mention of Georges hideous demeanor over the past four years. I've had it with Cherry. What a bombastic old turd. Hooray for Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan! Eliminate fighting and checking in the NHL! Non-white NHLers are a great idea! Russian hockey players have ruined the game. "Coach's Corner" indeed.
