Mills is 6'2 232#. After watching some video highlights at tulsahurricane.collegesports.com I was surprised I've never heard of him. He's very athletic and runs like a RB. As a matter of fact, his size is more suitable for RB. Reportedly, he has great hands as evidenced by his 175 receptions covering the last three years, and he's been playing TE since high school. So, at least at Tulsa it appears as though he wasn't steered away from RB. His only drawback asa conventionalNFL TE is his height. I'm sure he'll be considered among the top TE for the '06 draft.

Wow this guy is very impressive and the good news is that he has one year left to win more accolades and press. That way all the scouts will know who he is come draft day 07'. I like how the coach described him as the most athletic TE in the country. Also a TE with #20, I like that alot it only makes him look faster. I've never watched a Tulsa game in my life but will try to now.

Wow, White Lightning, I posted the same link to Mills just seconds after you did.

Mills caught my eye against Oklahoma and has proved me a sage. he has 58 catches for 774 yards and 7 TDS through eight games this year.

Mills caught 4 passes for 88 yards in Tulsa's win on Saturday. He finished the regular season with 75 receptions for over 1000 yards. Tulsa finished at 7-4 and bowl eligible, so hopefully we'll get an opportunity to watch Mills in a bowl game.

Garrett will be playing in the Liberty Bowl. He finished the year ranked 5'th in the country in receiving yardage!

That is unreal for a TE. He had 1183 yards, and 9 TD's! I just might go to the Liberty Bowl and watch him play.

A TE going to FB? What in the world are these people on? Why make a world class, record setting, player change positions? The screwy Caste System is the only explanation.

he might be a H-back in NFL, and if he gets as many looks as Cooley for instance, or Kleinsasser (couple of seasons back) he might do very well for himself actually...

I hope, but I'm not going to get overly optimistic. It infuriates me how these guys bury star white college players so you never hear of them again!

If the NFL was run by logic rather than racial slotting, Mills would lose 15-20 pounds and be converted to wide receiver.

he wouldn't even have to lose too much imo, he would be a "power" receiver, TE hybrid who can break tackles and wreak havoc... definitely worth trying... too bad we're not NFL coaches, huhEdited by: backrow

I hope he will turn out like a Cooley, who exploded during the skins winning streak to make the playoffs. If he can be a successful H-Back, the NFL is a copy cat league and dig for more white hybrid players.

Great idea Dan its too bad we use logic and brains on this board unlike NFL executives who use racial slotting to determine certain positions. The only hope for Mills is that a team will turn him into a Cooley type of player.

Here's a right-on-the-money commentary about Mills from Draft Daddy:

We've seen a ton of Mills on tape and think "fattening him up" to play blocking fullback in the NFL would be purely stupid. Although we seriously doubt this will happen in the NFL, we'd suggest using Mills as a slot receiver.

Change his number to something like "82", slim him down 15 pounds and you might have a terrific wide receiver. Mills is by no means slow, running a 4.57 40 at the Combine, and his gaudy career stats show he can do damage catching the ball.....Reality is he's a little short to play tight end and too gifted to be only a "blocking back". Our guess is NFL teams will compromise and make him a H-Back -- tight end/fullback hybrid. Smart teams will line him up in the slot and let him carve up the field against safeties and linebackers.

They also link to this article about Mills:

Millswould make an ideal receiver -- big, great hands, reasonably fast, and an academic All-American. But because of the Caste systemeveryone pretendshe's a fullback or a tight end or an H-back or a "tweener" of some kind. It's so despicable to see these great talents get screwed year after year.

Don, do you know what level of respect Draft Daddy gets among fans and sports writers? I know we like them and think they're on the money most of the time, but I'm curious as to what the 'rest' of the sports world thinks of their opinions.

Don't know, Shogun, hopefully recruiters and NFL scouts and execs are becoming aware of the site if they haven't already.

I just did a Google search for "Draft Daddy" and 9,630 results came in. "Caste Football" returns 644. "Mel Kiper" returns 5,880,000 results.

I got 773 on a google search for Caste Football, if it matters. I hope Garrett gets a shot somewhere and is used a lot. He could be a game changer if they give him a chance.

Garrett reminds me an awful lot of Chris Cooley who came out of Utah State a couple of years ago. the Aggies used him very similarly to how Tulsa used Mills, then the NFL morons said the same things they're saying now. turned out that Cooley is just about the best passing option the Redskins have. hmmm...go figure.

if Mills does at least as well as Cooley i would be pretty happy actually... and if he does play h-back that's also mostly because of the success that 'Skins had with Chris, that helped revive that position...
