Spring answers: The biggest answer came in the form of a healthy Rhema McKnight,
whose gruesome knee injury in the second game against Michigan last
year cost the wide receiver the rest of the season. How quickly we all
forget that McKnight was ahead of Jeff Samardzija in Brady Quinn's
pecking order before the injury. One could certainly argue those
absurdly good numbers put up by Semardjiza in '05 could've easily been
the stat line for a healthy McKnight instead.

So the numbers put up by Samadzija could have 'easily' been Rhema McKnight's if he hadn't gotten injured. Rhema is black. In other words "the white guy got lucky that the black guy went down with an injury...cause the Black guy could have done just as well, "easily"'

I am willing to admit I am reading into this too much, that the author could simply have been saying that Rhema is just AS good as Samardzija and thus with him coming back provides another awesome threat for Quinn. But given that this is ESPN, and that the author makes no complimentary remarks towards Samardzija, I would have to say that there appears to be some underlying discrimination present.
