The Eagles traded a conditional 2009 draft pick to acquire Colt's reserve running back Luke Lawton from the Indianapolis Colts. While the Eagles site alludes to his "versatility", it appears they plan to use him as a fullback only.

The only thing that this means is that the Dan Klecko FB experiment is not going well. This is bad news for Klecko, who dropped some weight to play full back, and will now be too light to take a reserve defensive line roll. This definitely jeopardizes Klecko's roster spot.

Lawton might make the team as a long snapper, however, as many view Eagles' LS Jon Dorenbos as a wasted roster spot (as he plays no other position). Either way, we face a "promotion by demotion" scenario. Bad stuff.

Maybe Lawton will get a token carry or two. Who knows? But best of luck to Klecko, Lawton, and Dorenbos. Maybe they'll all make the squad. One can only hope.Edited by: PhillyBirds
