This is a tremendous team which is one of few College basketball dynasty's that are usually white.

Jon Scheyer: I will start with this. In High School against one of the best teams in Illinois, Scheyer scored 21 Points In 75 Seconds before fouling out. Cant say enough about him. Definitely the most underrated college Monkey ball player. He does everything. He has the best three throw percentage for a returning acc player and he actually gets a lot of three throws. He is a great long range shooter. Also does all the little things that a coach wants. He also is a good defender. I cant imagine why he wont make the NBA.

Kyle Singler: Could be the best sophomore in college BBall. He can shoot from the out side well and has size. Would like to see him work on his inside game more but he is stll great.

Greg Paulus: Great senior leader. Has the range of JJ Redick. In High School he was a Multi Sport All American. Pursued a basketball career instead of football. He is by far the toughest guy on the court and plays great defense.

Others: Brian Zoubek, Martinyus Pocius, Olek Czyk, Jordan Davidson, Miles Plumblee and Steve Johnson

Look for duke to have a great season

Im excited about Olek Czyz. He has phenomenal athleticism, i think that alone will get him on the court, he is a bit undersized for a power forward at 6'7. Sare i say similiar to Joe Alexander. Paulus has been playing since he was a freshman with J.J. and Sheldon Williams. He needs to be a leader all year long through ups and downs, i think that is key if the BLue Devils want to go anywhere. Miles Plumblee should also add some toughness down low which the team lacked last year.

Here is a link to a clip of Olek http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DUdYfgWxjc

YEah i agree they don't really have a inside game. Plumblee will add a little inside work but i still think singler needs to develop an inside game

Nice to see another Duke fan has joined Caste football. Welcome aboard!
I am looking forward to the season once again and there is a Duke watchers party at a bowling place in the town where I live and they have fans like this all over the country. It can only be because of the white players that are allowed to star and/or at least play significant roles on the team.

i don't know that nolan smith "sucks," but i'd certainly give the edge in basketball-playing ability to Paulus.

ithink Nolan will see significant minutes because their offense would be more of a run n gun with him instead of being more of a traditional half court offense that it would be with Paulus. Not to say coach K won't play both guards at the same time.

Nolan Smith certainly is a talented player but Paulus has earned his starting pg position. My prediction is he gets it back.

Duke tipped off NCAA college basketball 2008-09!

it was an easy win tonight over out-matched Presbyterian, 80-49.

Kyle Singler led all scorers and rebounders with 19 and 10. Greg Paulus came off the bench but actually got 1 more minute than starting point guard Nolan Smith. however, Smith outplayed Paulus. Scheyer had 12, and freshman Miles Plumlee didn't score in his Duke debut but got the start.

next up, Duke hosts Rhode Island on the 16th.

They destroyed Georgia Southern last night as well. Kyle Singler has put on 20 pounds of muscle and he weighs 230 lbs now. He had 19 points in both games but because they were blowouts he rode the bench in the 2nd half. Plumlee and Pocious(nice dunk)looked good last night as well in their limited playing time. They were as many as four white guys on the floor at various times for Duke and I will throw 7-1 Zoubeck in the mix as someone who has seemingly improved his game over the off season. At least he's healthy now. Sunday night 530pm eastern on ESPN for their next game against Rhode Island.Edited by: guest301

Jimmy Baron was the real star in Duke/Rhode Island game, scoring 21 in the second half, Duke won by three, at home. Baron is the Rhode Island coach's son, and can just really shoot it.

That Baron kid hit so many long NBA range three-pointers in that game with a hand in his face that I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Baron is a JJ Reddick clone and is a player we here at CF should keep a eye on. Before yesterday, I had never heard of the kid and I follow the college game closely. Scheyer had 23 and Singler 21 in that game for Duke.

Plumlee's head went above-the-rim on an alley-oop against Virginia!!

He was then described as "very athletic."

Duke got smashed.

I watched the 1st half of the Duke game, but I was busy so I missed the 2nd half.

What happened? Did Singler's poor shooting continue? Without looking at the official stats, I get the impression that his shooting is worse this year than last. He will be labeled a "limited ceiling" athlete soon if he can't knock down the jump shot.

Is it me, or is Gerald Henderson taking "too many shots?" Kyle Singler and Jon Scheyer were hardly involved in the offensive end. Of course you have to factor in Clemson's tough defense, and Oglsbey's deadly sniping from downtown.

Henderson took too many 3s. Singler and Scheyer were horrible -- 3-of-16 combined. Of course, Singler might have scored more ... or at least taken more shots ... except he turned it over five times.

Oglesby looked like a John Beilein U-M guard ... only better.

Duke couldn't do anything right. give credit to Clemson for playing great full-court pressure defense.

also, Oglesby was awesome. he usually is, when he gets his touches. i like freshman Tanner Smith, as well. he's a tall, athletic combo guard who can really get in your jersey on defense.

Duke rebounded from the Clemson defeat to beat Miami 78-75 in overtime this afternoon. Greg Paulus started his first game today this season
smiley32.gif
and scored 18 points, Jon Scheyer came out of his slump and scored 22.

About time, I get annoyed when Gerald Henderson gets to take all the shots. Singler, Scheyer, and Paulus are the other stars of that team after all.

Duke is once again letting it slip away thanks to the poor shooting of Gerald henderson. How is he the go to guy when he shoots 4\10 form the field? Shecyer is 6\6 and has 18 points! Everytime a NC player goes up the refs send him to the line but Duke cannot get a break form the refs! Elliot Williams is another questionable player, he is a good defender but how was he so highly rated coming out of high school? The kid has no jumper what so ever!

Duke lost to UNC again 71-79

They finished the regular season with a 25-6 overall record and 11-5 in conference.

Hopefully they meet UNC again in the ACC tournament. I want revenge
