There goes another Black QB who projects at WR over the best WR in college football, Hass, presumably because of his race. Hagans is a 4.5+ guy, just like Hass... That makes 1 guy in Avant who is slower, 1 guy in Rodgers who logged an identical time and another half dozen guys who are merely a few 10ths of a second faster, all less productive.

Joke.

Bloom finally off the board, but curiously Hass is still waiting for his name to be called....

I think the NFL must be very afraid of what Hass could do to the perceptions of a White WR.

I have been a steeler fan since 98 but I am not one anymore. Cowher's blind love for blacks disgusts me. They will get some samoan from BYU in the late rounds and maybe a white in round 7 that they will cut in training camp.

Mike Haas/WR 6'-1" 205 4.58 not picked (yet).

Already picked:

Cory Rodgers WR 6'0" 187 4.73
Jason Avant WR 6'-0" 213 4.60

As well as a host of others who were only one to three one-hundreths of a second faster in the forty than Haas and who didn't have near the season he had.

Reclaimsocal is absolutely right. F'n joke.

Avant ran a 4.8 at his first pro day but blamed a cast on his hand for the slow time so he got a second chance

As cynical as experience has made me about the NFL, each draft I always hope that the league will finally start to show a tiny bit of fairness to white players, particularly those at the "skill" positions.

But the NFL never fails to disappoint. As others have noted this is the worst draft ever. Five rounds complete and not a single white CB, safety, FB, TB or receiver has been taken except for Bloom, who will most likely be a kick returner and a #5 receiver despite the lack of talent atreceiver on the Eagles roster.

What a crying shame for those exceptionally talented white players who overcame stereotyping and great odds stacked against them as walk-ons to excel in college -- only to be crushed by the NFL.

Current Saints WR's
-------------------
15 Lyman, Chase WR 6-4 210 23 2 California
81 Horn, Chris WR 5-11 195 28 3 Rocky Mountain College
11 Davis, Josh WR 6-1 190 25 1 Marshall
83 Stallworth, Donte' WR 6-0 196 25 5 Tennessee
84 Lewis, Michael WR 5-8 173 34 6 None
87 Horn, Joe WR 6-1 213 34 11 Itawamba (Miss.) JC
88 Poole, Nate WR 6-2 204 29 5 Marshall
19 Henderson, Devery WR 5-11 200 24 3 Louisiana State
16 Moore, Lance WR 5-9 177 22 1 Toledo
14 Thomas, Levon WR 6-1 195 22 1 Georgia Tech

Unfortunately, if Hass makes the roster he will probably knock fellow White Chase Lyman off it.

The way I see it breaking down...

Saints will keep some combo of 6 WR's on active and practice squad.

1. Joe Horn
2. Donte Stallworth
3. Devery Henderson
4. Nate Poole
5. Michael Lewis
6. Mike Hass

The Saints have Hass and Chase Lyman, another super-talented receiver plagued by knee problems.

That summary of Hass just now on ESPN was classic. Suzy Kolber mispronunced his name, Mel made the obligatory Ricky Proehl reference, and Mike "Dumbo the Elephant" Golic said thatHass may be one of those guys "who if you need 7 yards will get you 8." Reminds me of a comment that an announcer once made about Chris Walsh, the Vikings former White Special Teams Demon/mascot and #6 receiver: "He's a master of the three yard route."

Go, Mike! Show 'em yet again what a great receiver you are!

Thank the maker! Hass (I've been spelling his name wrong after all) is on an NFL team. Hope we actually get to see him play.

All in all a crappy draft. Edited by: Poacher

Don...one correction...Eric Smith was a white DB taken at the end of the third...but all in all it has been a terrible draft.

Unlike Drew Bennett, he will have a quarterback who can get him the ball... if he ever gets on the field.

You're right, Pitt, forgot about Smith.

I think ReclaimSoCal has the Saints receivers analyzed well. It's tough to see more than one of their three white receivers making the roster as Lewis is entrenched as their return man and Joe Horn and Stallworth are entrenched as starters. Henderson is one of those ubiquitous underachieving black receivers who is supposed to have great potential and is given years to continue failing. So that probably leaves Nate Poole, Chris Horn, Lyman and Hass battling for one spot, possibly two.Edited by: Don Wassall

M. Lewis has injury issues. I think Horn did some PR/KR in KC but I am not sure. Hopefully Hass and Lyman open some eyes up in training camp. It would be nice to see Hass line up in the slot his rookie season and prove all the doubters wrong and eventually more outside to replace Joe Horn who is growing old. Stallworth is also a black who was highly regarded but never has lived up to his potential. The past couple years I remember people saying he was going to break out but he never has. Hopefully Payton gets his act together and gets rid of all the trash Haslett left behind.

Joe Hornstarted showinghis age last season and may be near the end of his career. Hopefully Lyman has rehabilitated his knee and can stay healthy. It does seem like the Saints are moving away from the all-black Haslet era, so hopefully Hass and Lyman will be given an opportunity.

Congrats to Hass & Bloom.I have to admit that I'm a little mad at where they ended up.Maybe this teams will be a little more fair but I won't hold my breath. The Saints & the Eagles are not known for wanted the players that we like.

This Draft is by far the worst ever.I have to agree with all of your comments.Every time I get excited and think things might be changing just a little,I get a reality check. What a obvious kick in the face to all of these kids. When will this ever change?

The only two white guys that have any reason to be happy are Anthony Schlegel and Eric Smith. Both went way above the rounds the "experts" picked them to go. So it was a plesant day for those two but miserable for guys like Mike Hass, Mike Kudla, and Ryan LaCasse who should have been gone in the 3rd.

Don, Hass is never going to get the chance to prove anyone wrong, he will probably get washed out in mini/training camp, get traded, then languish on some practice squad for a few years and then cut out of the N egro F ootball L eague forever. I mean come on, New Orleans, the "Chocolate" factory of cities. Hass is doomed and I'm pissed about the whole damm draft and the NFL, where has my country gone? Well on the up side I do get to see alot more commercials and television brainwash programming showing Mexicans, blacks, asians, in unlikely roles that have historically been filled by Whitey (sorry I should have posted on media bias.)

damn I cant believe Kudla and LaCasse have not been drafted

Seems like many of the best whites at every position are being ignored or drafted late. Greg Eslinger, the 2005 Outland Trophy winner, just went 198th. All kinds of black QB affletes are getting drafted to play QB or another position, but someone like Bruce Gradkowski with excellent throwing skills and nice mobility goes late in the 6th round.

Could somebody please explain the supplemental draft (when's that?) and the "compensatory selection"?

Hass is suffering the same draft day bias as Luke Staley did a few years back.

Except that Hass hasn't had a dozen surgeries. So it's even worse.

The best wide receiver in college gets picked in the sixth round. It's absolutely disgraceful. Anyone who denies the Caste System is in denial. Period.
