Doc Rivers insults the late Jerry Quarry

The fool Doc Rivers used Jerry Quarry to describe Stephon Marbury looking unsteady on his feet during his first half playing for the Boston Black Celtics. The stupid fool Rivers, said "Marbury had boxers' legs out there in the first half. He looked like Jerry Quarry". I took that to mean Marbury was unsteady or to use to proper boxing expression "on queer street". Why use Jerry Quarry someone who died tragically at a relatively young age, as a form of insult? Maybe it's a good sign that Rivers had to reach back to late 1960s early 70s, to find a relatively well known white heavyweight, to use to ridicule one of his affeleths.

For Rivers information, Quarry was a very good fighter. I had the privilege of seeing him spar in his train camp in person, when he trained for the Ron Lyle fight. I was very surprised at his skill. He beat top fighters such as Earnie Shavers and Ron Lygle. One of the reasons Quarry didn't do well when he fought Frazier and Ali at their best, was IMO, Quarry was somewhat undersized.

Seeing him spar in person, showed Quarry to have tremendous skill . He was probably just born too early. If he were active today, he may have won an alphabet heavyweight title. No one else at the time Quarry lost to Ali and Frazier were able to beat them.

Rivers just shows his low IQ and obvious racism, by making such a statement. With coaches like Rivers, how long will it be before the NBA is 100% black?

If that happens, then kiss the NBA goodbye. It's boring enough to see a game that's always black. Doc Rivers most of the time does not have any idea what he's getting at, a typical dumb, and arrogant negro. Jerry Quarry would WHOOP is ass if he ever heard that remark. The Celtics absolutely stink!!!!!

Quarry never got knocked out though he was stopped on cuts a few times. At about 185 he was a small heavyweight even for the 1970s. Today he would be a cruiserweight and probably could have made light heavyweight in his day if he tried. Besides beating Ron Lyle and Ernie Shavers he beat Buster Mathis as well.

Quarry would have dominated the Cruiserweight division if he was born ten years later. Only Holyfield could have given him a competitive fight in Quarry's prime in that division. Quarry was that good of a small heavyweight. When I think of the junk journeymen who have won titles in this division. You can only lament about the what if for Quarry.

Besides the obvious fact that Quarry would crush Doc's skull with both hands tied behind his back, Doc Rivers' sole claim to fame is playing second fiddle to Danny "Why can't I stop crying like a woman" Manning on the early 90s Clippers.

I never loved basketball but followed it up until about two years ago. Now I get just about all of my info on basketball from the NBA and College forums here. Just can't bring myself to watch a game these days.

I am the exact same way. When Nash won his last MVP was the last season I watched. Now I just come here to see some diamond in rough basketball coverage from these men on CF.

For a brief period the NBA MVP award was won from 2005-07 by whites, Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki. Like you fellows, I may follow basketball based on stats sooner or later. I mostly watch International and European basketball these days.

Doc River's ignorance notwithstanding, Quarry still gets more respect now than when he was fighting and he was maybe the original whipping boy for DWFs. And by the way, he never got rubber legs, now matter how hard or often you hit him.

as well , he was a point guard I believe for the 76ers and tripped bringing the ball upcourt . Afterwards he got up and realised that they were gone. He then started to scour the court for his beloved teefus.

We could solve the World's energy problems off of the oil fields on Doc River's brow. I think we should harness that oil field.....

Did anybody see ESPN's retrospective on Jerry Quarry hosted by our beloved Al Bernstein? They could not muster enough courage to show some of Jerry's best wins,oh no,they instead showed his losses to Ali and Frazier basically telling us that Quarry was good but not as good as the all-superior negro.A pure propaganda piece. It's no wonder knobs like (C)ock Rivers said what he did because that is all ESPN will show.I'd like to add one more fight to Quarry's best wins and that was the one against Mac Foster who I guess could have been considered Mike Tyson before Mike Tyson.Well Jerry beat his ass every which way and old Mac was never the same.
