The South American championship begins tonight with Argentina vs Bolivia starting now. It looks like you'll be able to watch all the games here http://www.youtube.com/copaamerica.

I'll be rooting for all white (or mostly, it's hard to tell with some mestizos) Uruguay and the hosts Argentina. Brazil has won the last 5, so Argentina desperately needs to get the monkey off their back and win one, especially at home.

My unscientific estimate is that Argentina are starting 9 whites and 2 mestizos (Tevez and their keeper Romero). Tevez is very borderline though, so is probably mostly white. In any case, Messi is obviously white, as are other players like Zanetti, Cambiasso and Higuain and many of those I wasn't sure about have Italian last name, so I think we can conclude they are white as well.

Vamos Albiceleste!

i did the list of the background of all the uruguay players, it is here:

argentina has no chance to win, this one is for uruguay

i watched argentina's match: i knew it, their team is bad, very bad
they do not play with their best players, they have a bad defense, and no real foward
maxi lopez, german denis, diego milito, these are real fowards
tevez is overrated
they play without bolatti, big mistake

bolivia scored the first goal, a bit lucky, on a corner: the argentinean team was sleeping
just before the goal, they substituted cambiasso, one of the best players, by di maria, one of the most overrated players of the last 10 years

they managed to equalise, but before, bolivia could have scored a second goal, since marcelo moreno went head to head with the goal keeper, but the goal keeper won

after the equilisation, bolivia had another big opportunity to score

i would say that the man of the match was ronald raldes, the captain
together with ronald rivero, he formed a very strong white central defence
both are born in santa cruz de la sierra , the part of bolivia where whites live, the richest part
both are white, and ronald rivero is partly german

like i said before, this copa america is for uruguay, only brazil can stop them

Yeah it was rough. I still think they can somehow win if they figure out the right combination of midfielders and forwards to play. Their attackers are easily the best in the world, but their defense and keeper are not world class. I think the problem last night was they had too many quick, smaller attackers like Messi, Tevez, Di Maria, and Aguero and they needed a bigger poacher. Luckily they have 2 of the best in the world in Higuain and Milito. I don't know why they never came on. I would play Messi, Aguero, Di Maria, and Milito with Mascherano and Cambiasso as holding midfielders.

i agree, except for higuain, he is good in some matches, but in the big matches, he is invisible, or he misses big oportunities

and di maria is overrated, he always wants to score alone, he often makes the wrong decisions (try to dribble when he can pass the ball, usually)

right now, paraguay, brazil, uruguay, these are teams that are better than argentina: if they play against one of these teams, they will be eliminated

they still have to play costa rica, colombia (with falcao and guarin) so it won't be easy to even get passed the first round

i miss crespo, this was a foward

colombia won 1-0 against costa rica

costa rica is not a good team, argentina should beat them
it will be more difficult against colombia

we also have to note that colombian main players, the "stars", are not black, while the rest of the team is mostly black, proving black players have no charisma, and fail to gain attention
the stars i talk about are radamel garcia "falcao" and mario yepes, the defender and captain

the next match is brazil-venezuela, brazil will win easely, with great players like neymar, and white leaders and stars like pato, lucas pezzini leiva (from veneto) lucio (italina) julio cesar (italian) or elano blumer (italian + german) substituting lucas pezzini leiva

then paraguay will win against ecuador, ecuador has a mostly black team, and paraguay has indigenous + europeans like roque santa cruz (spanish) and mostly white haedo valdez, italian edgar barreto, and jonathan santana (italian or german)

it will be fun to see elizaga (italian + basque), the ecuadorian goal keeper, in one of his last matches

i really advise the soccer fans to watch the brazilian team, it has a lot of great white players, better than the argentineans:
pato is very young and is already one of the best strikers in the world
lucio is the best central defender in the world
julio cesar is considered one of the best goal keepers in the world
leiva is the soul of the team, like elano blumer, but only one of the two can play

the brazilian coach knows what he is doing, he puts a white player in every part of the field, one goal keeper, a central defender, a central middlefielder, a foward

it will be like that in 2014 too
this is not random, this is regulated by "quotats", a certain number of white players in certain places (central defender, goal keeper, and central middlefielder principally aka the most important ones)

That guaranteed"easy win" didn't quite materialise, eh?

We shall see how Uruguay fare in their opener against Peru...

it wasn't a win, but it was easy
venezuela didn't do anything

regarding brazilian white players:
lucio was a monster
julio cesar had nothing to do
very good match from pezzini leiva
outstanding match from pato: i did a video about his controls:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Et0D1uN0L4E

a bout the others: neymar did well
thiago silva looked nervous
robinho is one of the most over rated players in the world, hopefully he won't play, he got booed
ganso was awfull

peru vs uruguay will be a match with a lot of fighting spirit

about the match uruguay did against peru: it is not surprinsing to do 1-1, since peru is a good team, it could have been one of the outsiders, but they started without their stars, jefferson farfan, white (spanish+italian)claudio pizarro and vargas (vargas entered in second half though)

but it is disapointing to see the coach making some mistakes
victorino is absolutely not the best central defender, they need godin, or coates
i don't understand why arevalo rios plays, while gargano did an outstanding season at naples

i'm happy cristian rodriguez entered in second half, they need to do this at every match

but cavani was very bad, he missed everything
forlan on the other hand did a very good match, he proved he was ready, but he missed what for him is an easy goal, maybe because he played very few matches this year

after every team played their first match, the favourites are brazil, uruguay, paraguay and argentina
these teams showed superiority, despite not winning

argentina needs to do well against colombia, and it won't be easy

Argentina play Columbia tonight at 8.45 ET. The Argentines will have to play a lot better than they did on Friday night. They have the players yet in recent years they haven't been able to put it together as a team.<div>

</div><div>Apparently the coach doesn't like Carlos Tevez but is under political pressure to play him.</div>

it's because the fans love tevez, the coach gets insulted if he doesn't play
they say tevez is a real argentinean, unlike messi

the coach, batista, said "what we need is a real foward"
this is what i said too after the first match
now, he will play with tevez as a foward, or with diego milito

messi has been insulted by burdisso
it is possible that he will be substituted by pastore for the next match

</div><div>Why do they say Messi is not a real Argentinian? Because he was in Barca as a youth, not Argentina?<div>
</div><div>Uruguay play Chile at 6.15pm ET. The Chileans played really well against Mexico (though not full strength) so Uruguay (the team I'm supporting) will need to be careful.</div></div>

thank you matra, i will do a highlight video about forlan for every match, because he is my favourite player, and he is so underrated

they say messi is not really argentinean because he lived for a very long time in spain, and hasn't played for a local club
you often don't realize this because you live in europe, but for an argentinean, messi is like a stranger, since he never played in argentina

players like mascherano or tevez are very populars in argentina, and this is why they play, because they gained respect in local clubs

tevez is known as "the poeple's champ" (i think you would say it like that in english)
so is mascherano, this is why mascherano is the captain, while players like zanetti and cambiasso don't get the respect they should get

http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/worldcup/story/Messi-criticized-by-Argentina-teammate-Palermo

"He (Messi) is not one to take the role of leader. He won't do it
because he's not used to this position. He grew up in another way, he's
lived differently. He's been with Barcelona since he was 12
."

actually, martin palermo, a local club legend in argentina, even said that messi wasn't a real argentinian
i think burdisso, also a big player in boca juniors, said the same to messi

regarding uruguay, i know it will be complicated, because there is no easy match with them, and it is why i like them so much
during the 2010 world cup, they started with a nul too, and forlan missed a goal too , against france
in the end, they could have won the world cup if the referee didn't decided to be blind
forlan is in shape, as we can see in the video i made, so i think uruguay will win
cavani is bad thought, and i would like to see sebastian coates or godin, not victorino

as i said, they need players that play in south america, for the local fans: this is why victorino plays, and arevalo rios too
gargano would be so much better

also, forlan is not very popular in uruguay, for various reasons

</span><div>
</span></div><div>Wow! I had no idea. After decades of having having very few good players - only Recoba comes to my mind - you'd think a small nation like Uruguay would be in love with Forlan.</span></div><div>
</span></div><div>I figured being away from Argentina for his teenage years would be the reason for not considering Messi a real Argentinian. It'll be interesting to see how he plays in the last group match.</span></div>

i think that this might be his last competition with argentina, if argentina doesn't do well

and in my opinion, messi was in the first two matches the best player for argentina, he gets bashed because they expect him to do like he does with barcelona, but what happens here is the proof that a central defence ronald raldes-ronald rivero or mario yepes-colombian black is better than carvalho-albiol or rio ferdinand-vidic
and i am not surprised by that

uruguay has now the best defence i have seen in a while: coates-lugano

ok, uruguay qualified for the next stage, but they will play argentina
i thing they will win against argentina, but it will be dificult

coates will be suspended, he won't play against argentina, because of a yellow card at the last secnd of the match
it's sad, because he proved he was the best defender in the world (yes, in the world, only lucio can be better than him)

cristian rodriguez played against mexico because cavani was suposedly injuried
i hope he plays against argentina, he did well, very well

suarez was fantastic, forlan too, forlan has even been elected "man of the match"
but they both missed easy goals, i hope they score these easy goals against argentina

i loved how they played against chile, there was a lot of fighting spirit
i think the team will be the same than that against argentina, and they will play the same way, except coates won't be here (i hope godin plays, not victorino) and cristian rodriguez barrotti will hopefully in the place of cavani
also, the coach might want to play with a more defensive middlefield, so the middlefield might be gargano-perez-arevalo rios

(in this video, when you see a big central defender taking the ball, it' coates)

the most interesants quarter finals will be:

-uruguay vs argentina : uruguay should win, even without coates
-brazil vs paraguay : for all the fans that wanted to see brazil eliminated, you must be happy now, because paraguay is one of the best teams in the world right now, top 4 for sure
the only thing that is not perfect is their central defence and the keeper
santana ghere (of german or italian descent) should play
edgar barreto (italian) i think he is not ready, his injury is more serious that they thought
santa cruz was injuried too, i don't know if he will play
but they have enough talent to win against brazil

both will be great matches, with a lot of fighting spirit
