Report: Man supplied Vick with steroids

The Dallas Morning News is reporting that a man from Texas supplied former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick with steroids when he played for the team.

The man, David Jacobs, is identified in the report as a Plano steroids trafficker.

According to the Morning News, Jacobs killed himself and his girlfriend in June 2008. They report that before killing himself, Jacobs admitted to being at a party with Vick and other Falcons players who used his drugs.

The report comes after documents were released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture that detail the investigation into Vick's dog-fighting operation in Virginia.

According to the documents, Vick, now a backup quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, was questioned about a conversation had at the Atlanta Falcons' annual Christmas party in December 2006.

"An informant from the Drug Enforcement Administration supplied information that during the party, Vick had a conversation with an unnamed person about steroids,"Â￾ the documents state. "Vick was reportedly overheard telling the unnamed individual that he liked his product."Â￾

Vick told investigators the conversation never happened and that he never used steroids or any type of human growth hormones. Vick and his agent did not return calls from reporters for the Morning News article.

Vick pleaded guilty in 2007 to bankrolling a dog fighting operation and then served a year and a half of a 23-month federal prison sentence. He was released to home confinement May 22, 2009.

So what? The NFL doesn't really care if their players use steroids. Vick could test positive and he'd only get a few games suspention. Now if it was Peyton Manning.....

If ConVick admitted to using steroids, he would probably get a contract extension. Meanwhile, Matt Jones will continue to be Whiteballed in 2010 for having a couple of beers.

Yeah, isn't it funny how the NFL gets a free pass for steroids while baseball comes under the microscope? The NFL is supposed to be the new National Sport replacing baseball, so one would think that it would be the other way around, but it is not. I am sure that Steroids are infinitely more prevalent in the NFL than they ever were in baseball at the height of the steroid era. If it can be estimated that probably at least 50% of MLB was using steroids at one time or another you can bet that it is much much higher in a more physical game like football where recovery is key and careers are already cut much shorter than baseball due to injury and the physical beating football players take. Nobody should buy the NFL's line about its stringent drug policy, because it is obviously smoke and mirrors.

Yet there are still lots of people trying to make it out as blacks always get punished to the fullest extent and whites get a slap on the wrist. When has that ever happened?

Drug testing is probably always a step behind the users. Thru a second hand source that tells me of a lifelong aquaintance of his bulked up "suddenly" in HS got a Big Ten scholarship and a 6 year career in the NFL. Never caught once at any level. Another source is loosely associated with his old HS' athletic association where he knows an ex O-line guy from a dynasty team and needless to say he has shrunk considerably. The NFL is another lie we tell ourselves.
