Woods, of Sheffield, England, scored a 5th round TKO over previously
unbeaten American Rico Hoye for the IBF Lt. Heavyweight title.

Hoye was warned repeatedly for low blows and docked a point, which was meaningless to the outcome after the stoppage.

A good solid and dominating performance by Clinton Woods.Using an airtight defence where Woods was catching a lot of Hoye's punches with his gloves coupled with some fine counter-punching had Hoye frustrated.Hoye was only throwing one punch at a time and was trailing badly entering the 5th round where I thing Hoye was looking to try and end it,but was caught with some good counter left hooks by Woods to the point the where the fight had to be stopped.Next up for Clinton could be a match with Joe Calzaghe, since they were pushing for that in the post-fight interviews and they even had Calzaghe on the phone.Or Woods could get a third fight with Glenncoffe Johnson.I means how long can Johnson go on,he's an old man.Time catches up with Johnson and Woods wins this time. It's nice to see Woods hit it big on his fourth attempt to win a title.

Clinton Woods will fight today against Elvir Muriqi, an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo.

He says he will retire if he loses. Whoever wins will move up in the rankings at 175.

I hope Clinton Woods wins. Tavoris Cloud is not as impressive as some people make him out to seem. He has beaten a bunch of bums so far. Clinton's age could play a factor though.

Another thing in Clinton's favor is Cloud's inactivity. By fight time Clould will have been out of the ring for over a year.

I'm hoping Woods pulls off the upset.

Once again, Woods is going to be fighting a negro in summer in hot, humid Florida. I remember Clinton seemed lacking in energy during the Tarver fight, but I've watched videos of some of his fights in England, and was much more aggressive and moved more quickly.

Because Cloud's ancestors evolved in tropical Africa, he's naturally able to deal with heat and humidity better than Woods. If the fight were in cooler, temperate England, Woods would have a better chance.

I think Huck will defeat Ramirez though. And I wonder when Brudov is going to have his fight with Guillermo Jones for the WBA title? He's been waiting a long time.

Although he lost, Clinton Woods showed what a lion-hearted warrior he is tonight.

The past-prime English boxer received a lot of hard punches from young slugger Tavoris Cloud, but even though he appeared seriously hurt a couple of times, he never went down, and kept coming back and answering with a few good ones of his own.

All three scorecards were 116-112 for Cloud, and that's how I saw it too. Nice to see the judges in Florida scored it accurately and without bias.

I guess he did better than I thought he would. He is past his prime and probably should retire. No need to take more punches in the head.

Considering he's 37 I thought he fought very good. Better than I thought to be honest. Even some of the DWFs who were drooling over Tavoris Cloud have now began to think he's overrated due to Clinton's performance. Clinton said going into the fight that if he lost, he would retire. So if he retires he can hold his head up high knowing he had a good career with the highlight being his IBF title win over Glen Johnson. Throughout his career Clinton certainly dispelled the "myth" that white men can't take a punch as his chin was among the best in the sport for the better part of a decade.

Good ole Teddy Atlas had it 119-108

Most people think Teddy's only half-Jewish, but with a hatred toward white boxers like he has, he MUST be Jewish on both sides.

He must be Jewish on both sides. At least Woods put up a good fight this late in his career. Marco Huck just has to win today!!!!!!!!!!!!! He gave Steve Cunningham a run for his money and I think Cunningham is much better than Ramirez.Edited by: whiteathlete33
