Could one imagine humility coming from a Black baseball player? But for an excellent NHL team captain, "For the Team" can be reality.

Clark's Deal [Washingtonpost.com]
[Chris] Clark is due to earn $1.1 this season. The extension will pay him $2.75 million, $2.65 million and $2.5 million, according to sources.

Update 3 p.m. Here are a couple of quotes from Clark:

Asked about the possibility of playing on a checking line next season, he said: "I got a lot [ice time] the past couple of years because of what we had on our team. If things change next year, if we're winning, I don't care. I could be the third string goalie and that would be fine."

Asked whether he accepted a "home team discount", he said: "Risk-reward can go either way. I like where I am right now. I like the organization. I love the area. It's a lot [of money] for me."

When I think of great leaders in sports of the past two decades, it's mostly hockey players (and captains) that come to mind -- Steve Yzerman, Ron Francis, Mark Messier, Rod Brind'Amour. Sidney Crosby, who will wear the "C" for the Penguins this fall at the age of 20,recently signed a long-term deal formillions less than hecould have under the player union's bargaining agreement with the league in order to helphis team sign some of his fellow young stars in the future.

There's a helluva lot of class and honor stillleft in hockey, much like golf, another white bastion that has proved mostly impervious to the degradation caused other sports since the corporate/Cultural Marxist takeover of the U.S.

Drop the Puck! Come on Summertime, hurry up and end! It's time for NHL Hockey!

Penguins are legitimate Cup contenders this year. The Beak is Back!

Flyers and Caps will make the playoffs. I hope.
