Does anyone have a link to a video of the race? What a great personal best for the youngster.I just wish Dariusz Kuc would get back to form also.He finished 3rd in the Polish Nat'l Champs in a 6.71 today.

These young guys are going to make the next several years very interesting!Congrats the Christian.Maybe he will be the next Tobias Unger someday soon.

with his 60m being where its at, he should improve his 100m this summer.

does anyone know if he is related to sprinter Marc Blum from Germany? Marc had a PB of 10.13 with 0.0 wind.

He has the build of a 400 meter runner or even a bulky 800 meter runner. He has a lot of potenial filling out do...

As I reported in another thread,Christian ran a new p.b. of 10.26 today. He then followed that up with a 10.30 in the finals.Blum is only 20 years of age and he along with Pickering & Kuc will give us alot to look forward to over the next 5 - 10 years. All of these guys are only 20 years old and they will get alot faster as they become stronger.

Great pic of the soccer players. How old is that guy that beat him and has he ever competed in track?I have always said that alot of whites that play rugby and soccer/football could be great sprinters. We have a thread on one guy from Australia that could be the next Shirvo but he plays Rugby.

I don't think Christian Blum has even scratched the surface yet of what he is capable of.Just wait until he gets bigger like Pickering.Blum needs to do some serious weight training over the next few years. What a natural sprinter he is though!

I forgot to post this a few days ago. Christian Blum ran a 10.26 wind legal! He is still only 21 years of age so he has alot of upside to come.

So far this year, Christian Blum has been on fire. He opened up with a 6.61 and just yesterday ran a 6.56 for a new personal best. The crazy thing about that race is that he slipped with 5 meters to go and still won. He could have been close to a 6.50 flat which would have been a world leading time. Blum makes everything look so easy. While he doesn't have the power of a Pickering yet, he by far one of the smoothest sprinters I have seen. He makes it look effortless. That will help him as he chases that sub 10. I wish Craig's Coach would take notice. All of the great sprinters look so smooth. Christian Blum is just a natural. Here is a video of his first race as he just destroys the competition!

wow he may be better than pickering in time, but i think pickering will easily break 6.5 this year and get 10.0x. By 2012 pickering will break 10 i think

Here is Blums 6.56 race. Watch how he falls just after wining the race. It looks to me like the us sprinter stepped on his spikes but I'm not sure. Man is this guy smooth. He blew away Tobias Unger and Matic Osovnikar. He is quite the sprinter. This weekend is the German National Indoor Championships. I have a feeling we just might see anotehr personal best from the young german sprinter. What an exciting year so far! Here is the link to his latest victory just a few days before this weekends champs. Enjoy!

First off, Pickering is my favorite sprinter on the planet! I have followed this guy since he was a kid. He has excelled at every level and I see no reason why he can't continue to win races. Craig is still ahead of Blum at the moment but Christian is just about there in his indoor races. Who knows what he will do outdoors as Blums personal best is far slower than Pickerings. I'm just glad that they are both competing at a a high level.

Pickering should throw down a super fast time this weekend in Birmingham. He will be racing Dwain Chambers, Tyrone Edgar, Simeone Williamson, Paul Hession, Nick Smith and several others. It will take a ligthning fast time if Craig is going to win. I am hoping that he can run a new personal best. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Keep up the great posts ABsprinter! We need to light up this track board. By the way. Do you sprint currently or have you in the past?

haha im a junior in highschool. i ran varsity track with a pulled groin just to salvage a season and only ran a 7.07 55m (FAT). whatever i still have spring track but yeah im just an excited spectator for the most part.

Pickering is my favorite too, more recently though. Hes a class act in sprinting because he is anti roids; that is very hard to find these days. Also he runs the same way as me so i thought that was cool. hes just 10x more powerful than me.

im still rooting for blum though, he looks as skinny as i am.

i cant believe i forgot. in massachusetts, where i race, there a junior in andover who runs a 6.42 55m FAT and is sure to kill that time by the end of the season. His name is christopher mcconnell and im new to this so its hard for me to give you a link, but you can find him at coolrunning.com. then go to races/results. He is a sure bet to win the state and probably new englands. I expect him to break 6.3 by senior year, considering he is so consistent and dominant.
