Keep your eyes on Chad McMahan this year. He was a LB in 2003 and a leader in tackles for the Skyhawks. Last year his performance declined slightly when moved to FS. He will play at FS again for his Senior year and has been voted a co-captain. Chad also won the 2005 William 'Colonel' Kaler Leadership Award, which is a UT-Martin award. A big game for Chad will be the Arkansas State game on September 10. UT-Martin is Division 1-AA and Arkansas State is Division 1-A. Other big games for the Chad and the Skyhawks in 2005 are against Tennessee State, Southeast Missouri, and Murray State. Edited by: Colonel_Reb

Chad and the Skyhawks are 3-1 right now, which is their best start since 1995. Chad has 2 Interceptions this year even though he didn't play (injury) in the Arkansas State game, their only loss. He has 13 tackles on the season, including 1 for a loss, and will be starting again against Tennessee Tech tomorrow for homecoming.

Chad McMahon had a great Homecoming game today, getting 8 Unassisted tackles and 1 assisted tackle in a 46-16 romp over Tennessee Tech. This guy came from a medium sized private school in the Mississippi Delta and has done an outsanding job for the Skyhawks his whole career. I know that his old school is proud of him and so are all of us Deltans! Way to go Chad!

Chad now ranks second on the team in tackles with 54 in 7 games! That includes 13 in a tough loss to Ohio Valley Conference leaders #24 ranked Eastern Illinois last week. He has also been named as 1 of 3 winners of the Ohio Valley Conference Scholar Athlete Award. He has a 3.79 GPA! Congratulations Chad!

By the way, Eastern Illinois is 6-2 on the year, their losses coming against BYU 45-10, and Illinois State 27-6.

This week, the Skyhawks host Southeast Missouri State.

Today Chad was the starting punt returner, in addition to being Free Safety. He had 5 returns for 84 yards. I knew he would do well if they let him run the ball. That is what he was best at in high school.

By the way, Chad had 4 tackles in the 24-21 win. They are now 5-4.Edited by: Colonel_Reb

Here's another award Chad just received. He had 1 punt return today, plus his normal duties as starting safety. I will update his defensive stats soon.

Last week Chad had 3 tackles, and last night he had 10 against Murray State. That makes him 3'rd in tackles on the season. He also had a 6 yard punt return last night. Chad ends a great career at UT Martin on a winning note. They won 49-20 to go 6-5 on the year, their best season in several years. Chad also finished 1'st on the team in punt returns this year, and tied for 3'rd in interceptions. Congratulations on a great college football career, Chad!

For those of you who pray, please remember Chad and his family. I am good friends with his older brother and he informed me last night that their father died Tuesday morning. It is a very sad situation that I won't go into detail with here.
