really, dwid? if that's true, then Saban IS an idiot! anyone who has watched any Texas games knows that Gideon is the man who makes their secondary go. maybe their entire defense, in fact.

but McCoy is banged up and out of the game ... no word yet on how serious it is. appearedto be the back of histhrowing shoulder getting hit by the crown of a Bama lineman's helmet.

and another Bama special teams mistake!

a guy to keep an eye on in the future is Texas sophomore safety Nolan Brewster. he's played a lot this year, backing up both safety spots (and on special teams) and has tremendous speed, running a 21.8 200-meters as a sophomore in high school!

2 early story lines:

1) McCoy is still out of the game, and he left the field with his shoulder pads off.
2) Bama's "speed" at wide receiver hasn't been able to get open against the Blake Gideon-led 'Horns secondary.

Ingram is running hard tonight for the Tide.

Bama scores after a nice drive of physical running on a short td run by Ingram ...but they got away with an un-calledfalse start by "Mount" Cody who was lined up in the backfield.

with the newbie under center, Texas' offense is struggling mightily.

edited to add: and now it appears that he is shaken up, too.Edited by: Jimmy Chitwood

so far, Texas has no answer for Bama's running game, yet for some reason Saban keeps calling pass plays whichTexas is completely shutting down ... and as a result his quarterback is getting beat up.

also, it doesn't look good for McCoy. no official word, but they just showed him leaving the x-ray room with his pads off ... and his face said a lot, none of it good for Texas.

4 possessions since the freshman replaced McCoy for Texas ... and 4 three-and-outs.

Bama scores. Richardson on a 49-yard run where he didn't even have to change direction. tremendous blocking by the Tide's o-line. Texas is down, 14-6.

the Longhornsare going to have to find some offense or this game is over ...

Texas affletic wideout drops a pass in the endzone, and the very next play the freshman qb throws a pick. ouch.

the Longhorns' defense is already getting worn down ... they've been on the field a long time in this first half and are getting smacked in the mouth in the running game. their secondary is still a blanket, though.

oh!
Shipley was open for a BIG gain, and the frosh simply missed him. yet another three and out, and now Bama will stop from the 29-yard line of Texas.

I'm watching a bit of the game but it doesn't look good for Texas. Alabama won't give Shipley a chance on the punt return. And Colt is injured. Hopefully Colt will come back.

Bama just scored a touchdown with just 3 seconds left in the half when Texas should have taken a knee.Edited by: mrjohnnynofear

That shovel pass has to be the worst call in coaching history, what the hell is he thinking with a minute left in the half and a raw rookie at QB. Sit on the ball go in and regroup. Sheesh. I hope they have someone else for QB, that kid is too raw. Heck a RB and a wildcat offense would give them a better chance. BTW the fumbled shovel pass looked like it was the RB fault as much as the QB.

I have been watching the game.

First off, the black lady who "sang" America the Beautiful was atrocious.

Apparantly the same afrolete that knocked McCoy out of the game got the defensive TD in the final seconds. Ever obnoxious "annoucner" Kirk Herbstreit began talking about how this guy was a big reason why 'Bama was out in front. He almost sounded happy when he said he was the guy who knocked McCoy out of the game. Herby and Brent are joyfull as ever up in the booth that Alabama blew out Texas in the first half. I mean, how lucky can Alabama get this year?

As soon as Colt was hauled off to the locker room, the air went out of the entire Texas team. They're not a power running team, they are a primary passing team built around Colt McCoy. With him out, 75% of the playbook goes with him. I doubt that Texas could beat any of the other top 10 teams in this game, let alone a strong Alabama team. Before McCoy went down, it looked like it was going to be all Texas, without him, they're done.

"I mean, how lucky can Alabama get this year?"

No kidding. They were lucky to beat Tenessee, plus a few other games. And now McCoy gets knocked out on the first drive? WTF???

That shovel pass was a horrible play call. This game is basically over. What a joke. It could have been a great game.

on a slightly different note ...
every time i see Texas' running back Tre Newton touch the ball iscowl a little bit. he played at Southlake Carroll in Texas, and he is not even close to being the best tailback thatnearly always all-White school has produced. yet negro Newton has a skolly and is a starter for Texas, while all those White kids who were more talented and more productive disappeared into the shadowy abyss of the caste system.

Texas shows a little bit of life with a 3rd and 25 conversion.

It appears 'Bama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart will be interviewing for the Texas Tech coaching job, according to Brent.
