No, he's Polish, German and English and attended a Roman Catholic school while growing up.

Somebody as a joke wrote he's Jewish on his wiki page few years ago (because of his nose), but it was soon edited.

Im really looking forward to this fight. Froch/Kessler 1 was a war and I ultimately agreed with the scoring of that fight. It was close but I thought Kessler was a bit better on that night.

Both guys have great momentum right now in their career, both coming off big wins. Its a "pick em" fight. If the fight's in England, you gotta like Froch though!

What I've read is that his father is Jewish Central European, and his mother is Christian English.

I don`t know for sure if thats true, but in all honesty Ive read it on numerous sources and Id say that it likely is true. If you just search google `carl froch jewish` you can have a look.

However, I know for a fact that Froch does not practise or abide by Judaism, and also that Jewishness is passed down from the mother, not the father.

Because of these reasons (also Froch self identifies as simply Brit, not Jew), I think Froch should be considered white.

He also looks extremely white, and is clearly entirely of an European stock. ALSO, to 99% of people who watch his fights, interpret him as a white man and are oblivious to his religious background.

So for all of these reasons combined I think at this site we should support Froch.

Ive read a few times that his father is Jewish, but I cant say that it is true. Because Ive never heard Froch himself say it in an interview. You cant trust everything on the Internet and it may well be a rumour.

Funny, I mentioned the daughter molesting by Dave Hilton Jr to a Jewish guy I worked with a few years ago (before I learned the Hiltons are Jewish) and he became upset and went into denial about it.

In May 2001, Dave Hilton Jr. was sentenced to seven years in prison for sexually abusing two of his own daughters who were under the age of 14. He was also stripped of the World Boxing Council super middleweight title. Hilton was granted parole on May 10, 2006 and was released from prison in June 2006.

I remember Teddy Atlas was openly rooting for Hilton on ESPN Classic and becoming very excited. I was surprised, because Teddy generally roots against and discredits white boxers. But when I found out Hilton is Jewish, that explained it. :icon_lol:

The Hiltons were always celebrated as Scottish Canadians. If they have Jewish ancestry it could be from their mother or way down the line on the paternal side. Matthew Hilton used to wear Tartan trunks into the ring. As for Froch, the name is Germanic but I heard his father was a Polish national or came from Poland. The national lines are blurred between Germans and Poles if they are from Silesia or Prussia as these areas are now formally Poland. I myself have in laws from this area and a friend of the family and all identify themselves as Germans.

It could be a marketing ploy, like with Max Baer. The boxing writers like Fleisher always wrote nice stuff about him.

If you tell people you have Jewish ancestry and they believe it, no matter what kind of person you are, you'll automatically have 14 million to 32 million friends (or whatever number you think is correct). No other group is so ethno-centric.

But David Hilton Sr is officially listed as Jewish by reliable sources, so I think he really was. However, like Teddy Atlas, Matthew and Dave Jr probably had a shiksa mother.

Calzaghe wouldve made Froch look like a damn amateur, and while Froch's achievements are impressive, they're not at and probably never will be at Calzaghe's level.

Actually, you have to remember that the Hilton Brothers were also family to Arturo Gatti.

If I remember correctly, Arturo at one point was married to either a daughter or sister to the Hilton's. My memory is a bit flawed on the exact details.

But I know for 100% certain that through marriage, Gatti was connected to the Hilton family. I just forget the exact details.

In fact I think it may have even been Gatti's wife that was molested, Im not sure.

Davey Jr. was married to Arturo's older sister. He molested his two daughters. During the trial the two boxing families split and have never been on speaking terms since. I think when the trial was going on Arturo said during the trial that if he could he would kill Davey Jr. The whole trial was a soap opera in Montreal.

I would have to disagree on the Hiltons, they had the talent to win multiple titles between the brothers. They just didn't have the discipline. Not too many people can win a world belt at 21 and beat former champions(admittedly on the downside) barely out of their teens. Matthew was Saul Alvarez 25 years ago and Davey Jr was viewed as more talented than Matthew. I think Davey Jr. got into a motorcycle accident and basically wasted his career from his mid 20's to his mid 30's by ballooning up and going in and out of jail for fighting, robbery and all around thuggish behaviour. Yet Davey Jr was able to win a world belt at a weight 20 pounds above his best weight in his late 30's. The other two brothers Alex and Stuart weren't more than club fighters with Alex having a longer career that was marred with the same thuggish behaviour in his twenties through mid 30's.

That link Dempseyfire provided is part of a very interesting series on the Hiltons. I watched the whole show. It's too bad they came before the era of Reality TV. They could have made some good steady money with their own reality show. Then again they might have blown the deal by beating up the camera crew.

What is with all this Froch bashing? If he looked like Bute or Kesseler not word said. He was born with a crow's nose. Why can't Froch be given credit for his destruction of a top 5 PFP fighter without speculating if he is a Jew or has Jewish roots? Why the obession and degredation of a top fighter? If he had beat Ward months ago and Bute, he would be a top 5 or 3 fighter in the world right now.

I wasn't bashing Froch with the ear thing. I don't know, that was just me being off the wall (again?), maybe it was just a slow news day. I root for him whether he's part Jew or not.
