I'm watching Raiders-Bills game and i noticed that all of Bills defensive lineman are white :) Sam Adams wasn't on so it was Kelsey, Bannan, T. Anderson and Schobel. It just might be the first time i have seen something like that in years, if ever

thanks Jax,

unfortunately Bills failed to stop Raiders, and gave up 3 rushing TDs and i am sure that at least one of these guys will be found "guilty" and become a scapegoat...

Schobel had 6 tackles and a sack, his best game of the season so far.

Maybe not the greatest game but this happens every week to some of the all black defensive lines in the NFL.

haha, i was trying to look up a thread about Bills defense and it turns out it was a first thread i created! good stuff
smiley2.gif

anyway, we have no less than 5 whites playing for Bills tonight at any given moment: Aaron Schobel, Ryan Denney and Chris Kelsey spelling each other, Kyle Williams plus Jim Leonhard playing safety and now Coy Wire playing a hybrid safety/linebacker...

gotta love it

JP Losman is playing a great ball game, too

Sweet! This takes me back to the late 80s, early 90s days of being a Bills fan.

JP is half Mexican, and raised by his Mexican mother. I have been researching the fathers ethnicity. I suspect he is jewish, but cannot confirm.

Ooooh! Such nasty remarks. Why so snooty with me? I didn't invent the one-drop rule. Is there a backrow rule? I know we have had discussions here on this before and there never seems to be an answer. I determine a person's race by their ancestry and their personal politics. What race do you think he put on his application to UCLA? People of biracial parents have a choice to make. They can be one, the other, both or not acknowledge their racial makeup. Until JP acknowledges his European ancestry, he is off my list.

As far as a caste standpoint, JP has had all the breaks of a non-white. Kelly Holcomb has consistently outperformed JP (When given the opportunity). The media has been explaining JP chances as "a development process". Meanwhile, the better, more experienced, and whiter QB rides the pine.

why don't you consider whoever you want white and i will hold them to my standards? plus Losman was their QB of the future, they stuck with him and now it's paying benefits. and media were ripping him apart all this time.

nothing pisses me off more than this nitpicking, hence my attitude.

PS Schobel got 3 sacks for NFL leading 12,5 sack and Denney got 5th sack of the season, his career best!

The so-called one-drop rule isn't a 'rule', it's an opinion. It isn't like the law of gravity or the Second Law of Thermodynamics or something.

It seems like every time a 'white' athlete is mentioned on these boards, there is someone calling them out. First it was Greeks, then Spaniards, then Slavs...

According to the 2000 census, 77% of Americans identified themselves as white. I'm beginning to wonder if any of them play in the NFL, at least any that would pass inspection here anyway.

Being that he is from Venice California with his ethnic look I figured he was part Mexican or Native American. But the Buffalo media treats him as white, not hispanic. I know I live in the media market.

Stating facts is not nitpicking. Seek help for your attitude.

My question is simple; Is JP one of the 77%?

The media has never commented on JP's ethnicity. As far as the media criticism, it has been well deserved. JP had a very good game today. Maybe this is a sign of things to come. But nobody should forget how he has completely stunk for most of his starts. I doubt the members of the Western New York media are even aware of the heritage of Losman. If they were, I'm guessing that the criticism : praise ratio would suddenly turn to his favor.

I don't think they would sell as many tickets if the fans knew the truth. It's in the Bills best interest to keep JP little secreta close to the vestal.

i will repeat one thing to begin with: in any case, he can be Mexican and still white...

anyway, don't worry about my attitude and thanks for advice... why don't you follow mine and go to investigate what little white players are left in the NFL...

it is very simple: if you don't like any given player, don't follow him. why the need for this crusade to prove who is who according to you. save it for yourself.

Yes but the upside of Holcomb isn't much. He is a serviceable qb nothing more. Losman has star potential. I have heard some media people going nuts over his performances and others stating give him time. Also some Bills media members have done Micheal Irvings and stated why have the Bills drafted so many white D-Linemen. Yet they haven't wondered why they have drafted no white O-Linemen?

My crusade is fighting affirmative action. And if I don't like a player, should my posts look more like this...

There will always be a "gray area." We root for white althetes, the exact boundaries where an athlete becomes "officially" non-white is always up for question.

Yes my example was unclear. What I'm saying is this: You don't like
Vick, however you follow his play and post on his actions. Telling me
to not follow players I don't like seems hypocritical from you. Edited by: C Darwin

if you knew me at all from the boards, you would know that i don't do that, i just found this photo posted on Bucs boards and couldn't resist. no hypocrisy here...
anyway, this whole argument got blown out of the proportion, especially since i mentioned JP Losman as an afterthought to Bills white defense.

If Nick Goings is 1/4 black, then he is actually more 'white' than Tony Romo. But Goings seems to be considered 'black' while Romo is considered 'white,' if not by CF'ers but certainly by the media.

My perception of a player is colored (no pun intended) by the media representation of that player. Despite the local TV station airing a story about Romo's parents, they haven't made a big deal about him being a 'Hispanic' or 'Mexican' quarterback. And apparently it's all the same to Michael Irvin, whether white or Hispanic - as long as he isn't black, he can never be 'that' athletic.

I consider Romo and Losman to be 'white' for caste system purposes, and Goings to be 'black' for those same purposes. For me, it's all about how they're perceived by the system, and how that can influence changing the system for better or worse.
