Harper 0-3 with 3 walks tonight. This kid knows how to work the count. Not a bad night despite being hitless. He got a bad called strike 3 with the umps claiming he went around, and the announcers saying he didn't.

So I'm watching the Phillies-Nationals game. Cole Hamels throws over to first to keep Jayson Werth close to the bag -- and as he does so Bryce Harper (who had been hit in the back by a pitch by Hamels) steals home! F'in awesome! I think the kid is up in the bigs to stay, and may kick butt big time even as a 19 year old rookie. :clap2:

WOW! Harper steals home!!! This kid is awesome, he's going to be an all-time great if he stays healthy. That has to be an MLB record for youngest person to ever steal home.

Jayson Werth injured a wrist yesterday and will be out for at least 12 weeks, which means Harper is up to stay at least that long and likely the rest of the season.

Harper remains a big topic of discussion after Cole Hamels admitted to hitting Bryce on purpose on Sunday (Harper got his revenge in a big way by subsequently stealing home after being plunked). Hamels was suspended for five games but won't even miss a start so it's not really a suspension at all.

Harper is a Las Vegas native and here's what the morning rag wrote about him in the sports section's smarmy daily gossip column: "[Harper] was a major topic on at least two local talk radio shows Monday. . . and the general question was why many Las Vegans don't like Harper. There was no good answer, other than he's ****y."

I guess no one dared to bring up White self-loathing and jealousy of successful Whites. That would have been too obvious and "controversial."

Living in D.C. I have been watching as many Nationals games as possible and Harper comes off as anything but ****y. He has rarely made a mistake, he hustles and has shown great humility for a 19 year old.

I am hoping he finds his power stroke soon.

Would Cole Hamels have the balls to hit a black player and say later that he intentionally did it? I doubt it.

Every day in the lower right portion of the first page of the sports section, the Las Vegas Review-Journal has a box that gives Harper's results from the previous day's game along with his year-to-date stats. It's obvious homerism since he's from Vegas, but it still shows how popular he is and will be if he becomes a superstar (other than with that portion of DWFs who will always hate him for no good reason other than he's White and successful).

Harper hit one again tonight. His power is amazing. He has such a natural swing and he can hit the ball anywhere for average or hit it out of the park. This guy is going to be a legend of the major leagues for years to come.

Way to early to be comparing Bryce Harper to Ken Griffey Jr., but at the halfway point in the season, Harper's stats are eerily similar to Griffey Jr.'s. rookie numbers!

    Griffey Jr.:

G AB H R 2B 3B HR RBI SB AVG. SLG. TB OBP
    127 455 120 61 23 0 16 61 16 .264 .420 191 .329

    B. Harper:

G AB H R 2B 3B HR RBI SB AVG. SLG. TB OBP
    58 228 63 39 14 4 8 23 8 . 276 .478 109 .349

Harper is ahead or even with Griffey in almost every stat, except RBI. Could be because Harper is hitting second in the batting order.

The 3B stat is interesting, I think it shows Harper's hustle and speed!

Again, I know it's way too early, but it's fun to compare stats. Let's hope Harper can stay healthy and become one of the all-time great players!

Harper gets a hit against 10-4 Bumgarner and The Nationals get 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd with 2 outs to tie SF 3-3!

I'm still pulling for Bumgarner to go 11-4!

Time zone, heat, and game time probably not going to be kind to SF.

Washington wins 9-4 as Harper goes 2-4 and 2 runs scored, now hitting .280.

Bumgarner has a tough outing after pitching a complete game 1 hitter last week, now at 10-5 on the year.

Don't forget to vote for Bryce Harper at www.mlb.com

You can vote as many times as you want.

There sure was a push to get Chipper Jones on the AS team since it's his last year, but where's the love for Jim Thome? He's one of the greatest run producers ever, but no love. I hate the media in this country.

Harper hits HR # 20 passing Mel Ott for the NL record for most HR's by a teenager!

Tony Conigliaro holds the ML record of 24 HR's by a teenager.

Harper another HR tonight! That's # 21! With 7 games to go he could catch Conigliaro for most HR's by a teenager. It will be difficult, but it's possible!

Here's a good article on Bryce Harper and his upcoming age 20 season. Check the stats listed in it for how he did over the final quarter of 2012, if he can maintain close to that pace for 2013 his season might rival what Mike Trout did last year at 20 years old.

I'm getting pretty psyched about the upcoming baseball season, I have a feeling it's going to be another really good one for those stubborn overachieving types who refuse to be replaced by hispanics and blacks.

If Bryce Harper has historic season, don’t be surprised

Hard not to be impressed by Harper's acheivements at such a young age. The Tigers got a 21 year old guy named Castellanos that they think is going to be very good but is still supposed to be a couple of years away. Harper is just 20. I look at most 20 year old kids today and it seems like that can't do a thing.

Bryce hit solo homers in his first 2 at bats today. He had a huge spring and I believe he's going to have a Mike Trout-like breakout this season. At only 20 years of age, he may establish himself as a top 10 player in baseball.
