This should have been done years ago so that Bruce's place could have been taken by Kevin Curtis, who was much faster and more explosive, one of the best big-play receivers in the league when given opportunities. Now the question is, will the Rams shop around for a number two to replace Bruce or promote Drew Bennett to where he should have been last season after he was signed as a free agent. Bennett had a lackluster 2007 season due to notbeing allowed to playmuch and playing with the league's worst offensive line, one which allowed Marc Bulger, not the sturdiest QB around to begin with, to be battered to the point of ineffectiveness.

Bennett is still in his prime years, a terrific package of size, speed, smarts, good hands and big play potential. Hisrecord-settingrun late in the 2004 season with Tennessee when Billy Volek was the starting QB was one of the all-time beststretches of dominationby a wide receiver in NFL history. The talent is there, but will he be allowed to display it in St. Louis with Bruce out of the picture?

Drew Bennett needs to step his game up if he wants to have a serious impact on this team. I suspect he will get the number 2 spot, but if you watched any games last year you will have seen that Drew was not at his best. He showed poor hands and bad route running at times. If he plays like we know he can, he will have a chance to showcase his skills on this team now that Al Saunders is the offensive co-ordiantor.
