Yes the situation is a little better but our guys are still getting screwed! Martinek starts a few games and in other games only get token carries. Lippincott went from getting 20-25 rushes a game to having to be 2nd string to a new guy. I know he was hurt but this guy was and still is incredible when he touches the ball. Mosure just like Martinek only gets to carry the ball alot in around half the games. He sits the rest of the time. Only Gerhart has got around 20 carries every game. None of the other guys have or even come close. None of the other guys are guaranteed to start.

I'm not trying to be overly negative. I do see the positive as well but it is not even close to exceptable. We need starters like Gerhart that will remain starters throughout the season period unless of a major injury. They will pull a white running back if he has only a couple of bad carries. That is not fair. The bottom line is that we need to stick together and pull for all of these kids. We also need to hope that the future will be brighter. We should have tons of white running backs. As far as the NFL goes, it's worse as you guys know. It's going to be a long hard fight. Whites need to stick together and demand fairness. The players need to start speaking up more as well to everyone. Get the facts known about the discrimination that these white running backs face.

Very well said WL! One thing we should note though, to put some of this negative situation in perspective, is that most FBS teams give 1/4 or more of their carries to backups. In this case the Joe Martinek situation isn't too bad. I have seen on the Scout.com forums, that even though Martinek struggled a bit in the 3 Big East games, that most blamed it on him not having enough carries in a row to establish a rhythm. I saw at least a few threads suggesting that De'Antwan Williams become the second option as a scat-back instead of Jourdan Brooks and wondering why Williams isn't playing more. However, most wanted Martinek to start the game and be the featured guy in the 2nd half. The fans realize Martinek gets better with more carries and as the game goes on. I was surprised to see so many DWFs that love De'Antwan Williams' "upside" realize that Martinek is the better and more proven tailback on the team right now! Most were calling for Williams to have more playing time at the expense of Brooks, for the most part- and not Martinek!

Iowa's first play from scrimmage today featured Weagher at TB and Morse at FB, i.e., 2 white running backs! Wow, when was the last time that happened with a team ranked in the top 10. Meanwhile, their opponent, Northwestern, is also starting a white RB, Scott Concannon.

Crapola! A bogus holding call nullifies the long Wegher TD!

I really believe there is an effort on the part of officials to deny White RBs long TDs. It happens all too often to just be coincidence.

Now they say he fumbled when his knee was down. I'm getting mad!

There was no hold at all on that run. The same thing happened to Toby Gerhart this year and Jared Hawkins last year, as well, in games I watched. That would have been around a 70 yard run by Wegher. Wegher is playing great, but the officials have screwed him twice. That was not a fumble either. Colonel I'm getting more than mad...I'm getting really mad!Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Yes his ypc would have been much better if they hadn't called that one run back. I didn't see a hold, but you can technically call a hold on any play, but I agree that there is an effort on the part of officials to deny White RBs long TDs, it is odd when they decide to call these "holds"

I don't think it's a conscious effort, where they would risk their credibility (or even jobs) by constantly throwing the flag on long runs by a white tailback. It might be a sub conscious one however. Maybe their quick assumption is "yeah, that white RB wouldn't have been able to break free by that much if that white o-lineman hadn't knocked down that black DE with a "hold"..got to be a hold zebras!" This particular play was just a clean hard block, where the Iowa Center knocked the NW D-lineman off his feet and the refs quickly "reacted" and threw a flag. Wegher would have been at about 7 YPC instead of 3.3 YPC and the game would have been going to OT if not for that "hold".Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

While it doesn't help on the stats, that called back run does not go unnoticed by the coaches in terms of evealuating his status. As a true freshman Wegher is doing great even if his stats from the game don't jump off the page.

I hope so ES, Ferentz seems pretty fair, so hopefully he'll factor Wegher's 70 yard run that should have stood into the evaluation. Wegher would be at over 4 YPC right now and that run could have helped win the game against NW and won over the Iowa media and some dwfs. Right now his 3.6 YPC doesn't look good (Wegher also had a 19 yard run called back on an iffy call this year).

I wouldn't be surprised if Jewel Hampton and Adam Robinson are the number one and two backs next season (Hampton ran for 5.1 YPC in 2008 and Robinson was at 4.6 YPC this year)- and Wegher falls to third string. I sincerely hope that Ferentz is fair- and gives Wegher a chance to compete to be an important cog for Iowa next season. Let's hope Wegher finishes off the year strong in a BCS bowl!

Congrats to Brandon!!!

Man, I'll tell you what, I was so happy for that kid last night. 113 yards rushing on 16 carries for a 7.1 ypc. I loved it when they kept showing head shots of him with his helmet off. I want as much exposure for great white athletes such as Brandon as possible. Hopefully, this performance will solidify him as the starting tailback next year. What the heck else does he need to prove. I also love the fact that his performance was on national television sothe DWF can wake up and recognize that we have talented athletes that deserve to be in the limelight.

I noticed that with around 5 minutes or so to go in the game, FedEx gave their "Ground Warrior" or whatever they call the award that they give to the outstanding rushing player of the game to Anthony Allen of GA Tech, who had the Yellow Jackets lone offensive touchdown. He finished the game with 21 yards on 3 carries! Who are the doofuses in charge of giving out these awards?? Even at that juncture in the game Brandon Wegher had three times the yardage.

I noticed that farce award too. I love the confidence Wegher displayed, considering this was the biggest game for Iowa. Here's a guy who if he doesn't perform well in this last game would have probably fallen to 3rd string next year. I'm sure he knows how the evaluation processes work, but it didn't faze him. He stepped up and had his best game of the year and will make it difficult for Ferentz to not AT LEAST allow him to earn the same role next year! I was getting sick to my stomach reading DWF posts on Scout.com calling for Wegher to be moved to safety and claiming Brinson and even fat boy Brad Rogers should get playing time next season as the 3rd and 4th backs.

The good news: The media and fans remember what a player did last- in the crucial BCS bowl game, Wegher had a phenomenal game after struggling a bit late in the season. The bad news is that coach Ferentz didn't remember what he "did last" to bring him success and has signed three black RBs without a single white one. Also notice in the following article how it states that Ferentz finds lots of "under the radar" recruits and how low this "mixed" class is ranked (for a team that just won the Orange Bowl) by the "anti-white Nazi" United Negro College Fund cronnies that pathologically pose as "scouts" BrownieScout.com and White Rivals.

Recruiting repeat?
Hawkeyes hope they have found another star like Brandon Wegher.
BY NIGEL DUARA THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Beating Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl last month certainly helped Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz on the recruiting trail.
IOWA CITY -- Iowa freshman Brandon Wegher's remarkable journey from high school standout to Orange Bowl star was both a testament to his abilities and a clear sign of the program's tattered depth chart at running back.

The Hawkeyes would love to see someone from the Class of 2010 emerge as a force like Wegher, whose 32-yard touchdown run helped Iowa clinch a 24-14 win over Georgia Tech in Miami. Iowa's just hoping it won't need any of its true freshmen to do it next season.

Iowa announced its latest signing class on Wednesday, a group of 21 prospects that looks like a typical Kirk Ferentz class.

The signees are spread between offense (10) and defense (10), with one player's position still undetermined. Ferentz said they adhere to the type of hardworking, grind-it-out prospect he likes: 19 were captains in high school, 14 WERE ON THE HONOR ROLL and all played another sport besides football.

Iowa, which went 11-2 and finished ranked No. 7, brought in a decent class, according to the recruiting services (Rivals No. 42 and Scout No. 44). That's also typical Advertisement

for Ferentz, who has built his program by molding under-the-radar recruits into solid Big Ten starters and all-league performers.

"We just need guys that are going to come in and work hard," Ferentz said. "MAYBE THAT'S THE BEST WAY TO RATE A RECRUITING CLASS, SEE WHAT THEY DO ON THE FIELD."

It will be tough to imagine any of Iowa's 21 recruits playing a major role next season, given that the Hawkeyes return 15 starters.

Iowa loaded up on the defensive line, signing five linemen. The Hawkeyes will start three seniors on a line that should be among the best in the country in 2010, with end Broderick Binns coming back in 2011.

Iowa also added depth at running back, something the Hawkeyes struggled with in 2009. Signees Marcus Coker, DeAndre Johnson and Anthony Hitchens join a group that also includes sophomores Wegher, Adam Robinson, Jeff Brinson and Jewel Hampton, who should be back after knee surgery.

In fact the Hawkeyes signed Tanner Miller out of Iowa rivals ranks him as an athlete however his last year in high school he rushed for nearly 2000 yards. I think he will be given a chance to play running back and should clearly out play the affroletes in front of him if given the oppurtunity. Miller is 6ft2in and 200 lbs with 4.5 speed in the 40 big enough and fast enough for big 10 play.

The best runningback in the country this year was Nile Knapp out of Georgia. He wanted to be a Hawkeye. He ran in the 4.4 range during a recruiting visit to Iowa. Ferentz didn't want him.
I have no more use for Ferentz or his Blackeyes.

I can't find Knapp ranked on Rivals or Scout.

Not surprising... I wish someone of importance would have the balls to call out these services for their bigotry in their rankings.

Even Draft Daddy hasn't had the courage to go there. I have never seen any posts in the DD blog about those "recruiting" anti-white Nazis who want to wipe the white athlete off the map. I mean one white WR in the top 100? (and barely in the top 100). Even the most drunken of fans should be scratching their head- especially since lots of the best WRs in FBS ball this year were white! By their rankings, if it were up to Rivals, there would be "zero" white WRs in the NFL and that is a SICK "FACT"!

Espn has Mauro and Knapp rated as 40's about as low as you can get on their recruiting scale...

I just thought I would bump the REAL Brandon Wegher thread so that the other one, which is fraught with name-calling and little to do with Brandon can fade away.

Hey White Athlete 33. No my actual name is Rob. I am not Jewish. I think Jews who make up 2 percent of the country have an unbeleivable amount of power and money meaning they are doctors, lawyers, in the media but are you crazy to think they all get together in tiny hidden rooms and are plotting the overthrow of whites. Yes I understand a lot of their culturalist marxist agenda and many Jews love the black athlete which as we all know is crap. Most Jwes by nature are Liberal. I myself am conservative. Maybe through history Jws by and large become Liberal due to the systematic racism they have faced. It can be argued they brought it upon themselves. I have made many posts regarding my love for the underdog white athlete. But if I see a white athlete that I think is ovverated I will say something. I loved Brandon Weghers high school highlights. He is unreal. Why in college cant he make the same moves or run with any real speed? Im hoping that changes in the years to come.
