I was going to mention this on the "weeping wussie" thread, but it's a little off topic. Thrashen made mention of Pat Knight's weirdo dad I believe and I wanted to get CF's take on Bobby Knight. I figured out Thrashen's take.

I was listening to mad dog radio the other day and the "Evan" part of Evan and Phillips was complimenting BK on his coaching and said he would not have a problem with sending his son to play for BK even though he(Evan) has no children. Whereas Steve Phillips retorted that he had major issues with BK and would not advise his son to play for BK.

I remember a number of years ago when the physical abuse charges came out against BK and it was clear on a video that he grabbed one of his former players by the throat; I believe it was Neil Reed.

I have sons and I've seen some tough coaches over the years working with my them, whether on the wrestling mat or on the football field, and I have no trouble with my kids getting kicked in the rear or scolded if they've done something wrong, but if BK had grabbed one of my sons by the throat, it would have been ("his" BK's) mistake. Both (my sons) are trained to know what to do when someone grabs them by the throat, it's probably the worst thing you can do to someone who knows how to retaliate.

I kind of liked BK up until that point, but I think you're crossing the line when your temper get's the best of you to the point you have to lose control so much as to choke someone. The guy has major issues!

If my son were being recruited by BK, I would just say to him, if you want to get physical, that's ok, but you may be the one getting hurt!
