Baseball as bad as football? I say yes.

Yes I am a Troutaholic and believe me living on the east coast I wake up lot at 3 am just to catch some stats on MLB network. He is currently in a horrific slump which sucks of course.
But overall baseball has quietly but doggedly over the years has shown the trend where most of the speed stuff is by black or mixed players. Case in point only one active white player is on the top 20 career sb chart Brian Roberts at 16 and I don't think he is in the league now. Ellsbury is American Indian.
This year has been a real disaster as the likes of young players like Gordon an Hamilton and others have been showing speed and stealing bases at an impressive clip.
Unlike football there have been and still are plenty of white speedsters in the minor leagues but most never make it to the big leagues. Yet the way MLB promote players has that sinister glow of black players getting the speed positions white players get the pitching and slower positions, in general.
Granted there are some terrific white athletic players in the league. Certainly guys like Gardner, Stubbs, Eaton, Borjous and Shaefer and others have great speed but some of these guys have had bad seasons. Heck Oakland has a burner named Billy Burns who was called up for one friggen game and was sent down the next day after going 0-4. Meanwhile BJ Upton plays every day for the Braves despite barely batting 200.
Maybe it is just me but baseball has become depressing in many ways. I see the great speed of some white college and minor league players but the vast majority can't seem to hit well enough to make it to the big show. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!

Yes Shadowlight, I agree. Trout has been up and down since the all star game. He was 7 for 17 and I thought he was coming out of his slump, but since then he's been like 7 for 37!

.....and yes baseball is as bad if not worse than football! At the collegiate level in baseball, most players are white, like 90%, but doesn't translate to MLB.

....however at the collegiate level in football, most or 80% of the players are black and does translate to the NFL.

So in some ways it's more of a slap in our face, baseball wise!

I say baseball is worse than football, if you look at from a transitional point from college to the pros.

Thanks

Well I feel a little better knowing I am not just going crazy yeh given the field of players to choose from you are absolutely right CS. The transitional rate is unbelievably bad.
