Deadlift
Hall of Famer
In the last 4 years of competition, there have been 8 1st-time Major winners that are White! And, add Y.E. Yang to the "other" category as another Major winner. Here are the White winners:
Trevor Immelman
Stewart Cink
Lucas Glover
Graeme McDowell
Martin Kaymer
Louis Oosthuizen
Charl Schwartzel
Rory McIlroy
I remember the MSM having "negativity" toward Immelman and suggesting that his Major win will be the only one of his career (which is probably correct - though). McDowell was also branded with the same - "that will probably be his only Major" line - which is likely correct again.
I see 4 of these players as having quite a legit chance of getting a 2nd Major win (Schwartzel, Kaymer, Glover & McIlroy). Someone will likely step-up -- like players' like Harrington, Goosen, Els and O'Meara did in the recent past -- but we may have to wait until next year. Winning a 2nd Major is difficult indeed, and a 3rd even moreso. It's certainly made even more difficult with all of the World competing now, and a Major like The Masters can be won by numerous players. I have some patience, but maybe a little worry too.. because, if someone doesn't "rise above" soon, the MSM will "make fun" of more of these single Major winners. Yes, part of the MSM likely wants "a star" that they can market.. either an American or Jason Day.
