Alex Smith - Indiana

Does anyone remember Alex Smith, RB for Indiana in the 90's?
He was a great runner and I remember an article about him in Sports Illustrated, addressing the fact that he was a white RB who seemed destined to make it in the NFL.
Unfortunately, it seems that he didn't?
Does anybody know more about his story?

He had hamstring problems that limited his playing time after his freshman or sophomore season. After that he was viewed as a marginal prospect and was cut by the colts who only had in camp to be training camp fodder.

I went to the Indiana University website and saw that he rushed for 1500 yards in 94, and had 3 games with over 200 yards rushing! Shame he never made it to the NFL>
