Ok, let me first say that since I am on this site, "as far as athletics go", I am certainly more ethno-centric than average. I pull for Irish athletes the most and then of course any person of European decent second b/c they are closer related genetically to myself. However, my first inclination even before race sometimes is to root for the underdog. Having said that, I find it very hard to root for any black athlete ever, in a sport where the caste system rears its ugly unfair head, even if they are a big underdog.

I can root for an underdog black in swimming (especially long distance swimming...no caste inclinations of speed superiority there) or an underdog black golfer (not Tiger obviously) because if a black wins, it will have little effect on the emasculation of the white man. If Calvin Jones (or whatever his name is) started dominating Michael Phelps all the sudden, I would be upset, b/c I wouldn't want the drunken sports fans to foolishly think blacks are superior across all sports.

I root for whites b/c we are emasculated in any running/ speed event or any huge media covered sport (basketball, football) and made to look weak and like we can't survive if we were put out in the wilderness, as if we are a tiny dog put out of place amongst his other canines in a wolf pack. For the first 200,000 years of Cro-Magnum existence, humans lived as hunters and gatherers. We were all in Africa until about 80,000 years ago according to the current dominant theory. In the last 80,000 years humans have migrated to every corner of the globe. I hate the racist theories that whites survived in Europe mainly b/c of our superior intelligence and blacks survived mainly because of their superior athleticism.

This is in truth, I'm afraid, what the closet racists believe, but will never admit. They support black athletes trying to seem all liberal and supportive of the struggling poor black man, but what they are really saying is: "Blacks deserve to be kings of sports because they lag behind at everything else." I bet you Tom Luginbill of ESPN's racist Scouts INC. is really a "mega" closet racist who because of his own insecurities of being so, emasculates white football players harder than any man on the planet. He just wants to go with the flow and not shake anything up or tell the truth. However, he overcompensates for his insecurities and far left agenda, by being one of the biggest anti-white hate mongers of all time. To be that biased, there has got to be some agenda. ESPN is owned by far left Disney after all..hmmmm.

So where am I going with this rant you may ask and how does it apply to Deonte Wilder? I had heard good things about Wilder and how he gave up his professional basketball dream (he was a very talented ball player), b/c he had a baby daughter with Spinal Bifida who needed financial support right away. He gave that dream up and worked his tail off at two jobs driving a beer truck and waiting tables. He doesn't seem like the brightest guy, but in an interview with him from NBC, he seemed to have a huge heart. He boxes for the love of the sport and b/c of his competitive spirit and probably because his daughter is in better shape and he can now afford to.

Going into the match with the Italian at first I just wanted to see a close fight. I worried if Wilder won, the media fawning would start which would lead to more disparaging of the white athlete. I was debating who I was going to hope for. But I heard the Italian had already won gold last summer Olympics.

And then when I saw that this was going to be a very tactical fight between two very contrasting styles, I was drawn in. Wilder got ripped off early on falling behind 0-1. The Italian should never have gotten credit for that first point. Then Wilder fell behind 0-2. Now he couldn't wait for Russo (the Italian) to come to him anymore, like what had seemed like the original game plan. By the 3rd round it was apparent he was going to have to fight Russo Russo's way, to win the fight. Russo is a lightning quick, brilliant tactical fighter with lots of experience. He dances around until the opponent makes mistakes and then throws the quick punch inside when they come after him.

All the sudden I was hoping for the underdog, (yes you heard it right) Wilder, a black American. In fact I was starting to pull for him pretty hard. In the end he lost to a better fighter, but I was still a little disappointed b/c I wanted to see Wilder in the finals. I may not have supported Wilder in the finals b/c I am sick of the black supremacy in sports lies.

However, I am proud to say that I was rooting for a great American in Wilder, even though he is black and part of the caste system problem. This was a very rare event for me, but I really wanted to pull for this underdog who has fought night and day to support his disabled daughter with apparently no college education. I am happy that he ended up with a bronze medal, but I truly wanted to see him at least in the finals.

Interestingly in the final interview, I learned Wilder is a strong Christian. I took a liking to him from the start, but clearly he lives his life the way God wants him to. Despite a tough match and probably much aggravation from being out dueled by a more experienced and superior boxer "at this point", Wilder never fought dirty.

The only thing he did that caste footballers might malign him for was when he picked Russo off the ground once. Clearly that was just his competitive desire and his statement to Russo meaning: You might be quicker and a better tactical fighter, but I'm bigger and can knock you to the ground with one good punch. If a white boxer had done this none on this site would have a problem with anything Wilder did.

I am proud to say that Wilder is a great American, even though the media will fawn over him. He has overcome significant obstacles in his life and left with a bronze medal.

The reason I am writing this isn't to tick people off on this site, but to make people realize that although we share a common goal at this site, there are black athletes who are great people and underdogs the way some white athletes are. We don't have to support them, if it will hurt our cause, but a man like Deonte Wilder should be respected as a great American. Sometimes we lose site of this.

P.S: Getting back to our site's goals, I will strongly be pulling for Spain tomorrow over the "Dream team". Does anyone know when and what channel the game will air? I guess I should have posted the last part in the NBA forum.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Great points, TJR. I did not see the fight you are talking about, but I agree with your larger points. I, for one, felt really bad for the sprinter, Gay, who dropped the baton for our relay team. When he was being interviewed, he looked so sad, and he is clearly having a disastrous experience. I root for whites too, but not all blacks should be rooted against, for goodness sakes!

As for the big game, it is on live at 2:30 am Sunday morning, EST, on NBC.Out here in the wild West, it is an 11:30 game on Saturday night.

So, although I will be seeing the game before you, I promise not to post a spoiler.

Thanks for the reply Glory...Yeah, I am actually not really much of an ethno-centric person except when it comes to sports. Although of course I am racially aware here in the U.S because of A.A politics which I despise in any work force b/c it is unfair and causes more racism. I just basically want fairness.

But I am excited for this basketball match-up between Spain and America. The Argentina game would have been much closer if Manu didn't get injured in the 1st quarter...bummer.

TJR you make some valid/moral points. I remember liking Ken Norton when he fought. He was one black fighter who I thought was cool and good person who I wanted to win back in the day. He got ripped off in that third fight with Ali. For some reason the media and powers that be had the fix in for Ali. I asked how could a draft dodger like Ali be mor respected than Frazier?

Today I have the same feelings about Jarmine Taylor. Due to the Caste System and powers to keep whites down, I will root for him against anyone not white.

Great and insightful post as usual Tough J. You often do a good job here in laying your complete thoughts out on a issue and explaining your reasoning behind it. I wasn't aware of Wilder's story at all or his faith, if I had been I may not have rooted against him in that fight you referenced but for caste reasons I rooted for disaster for the American boxing team and certainly not because I individually hated any of them. I also felt bad because two or three of them clearly got jobbed by corrupt and/or incompetent judges. A few Russian fighters got screwed as well. Anyways you really expose yourself to ridicule with a post like that and although I don't agree with every sentiment you expressed, I do applaud where you are coming from.
My very first post here under the guest301 username a few years ago was entitled "innocence lost in sports". It was basically about growing up watching sports and not caring about what race the my favorite athletes belonged to and just rooting for my hometown favorites. I grew up in Dallas and my favorites as a kid were guys like Staubach, Dorsett, Drew Pearson,Too Tall Jones, Randy White, Bob Lilly, Chuck Howley, Danny White and of course the legendary safeties Charlie Waters and Cliff Harris. I could have cared less about their color but I started noticing the decline of the white athlete as I became a man and I discovered this site one day and probably read posts for about 9 months or so here before I got the nerve to join and now I know what's up and it's very hard for me to root for a black athlete in anything because of the larger issues at stake. So I understand where you are coming from Riggins and part of me wishes I could watch sports again with the carefree abandon I did as a kid once with no poliical or racial issues involved. I miss the innocence that sports used to be to me but there is no going back now. It is what it is but maybe someday soon it will be better.

Sheesh! White people! always able to go on and on about their favorite negroes while their race heads toward extinction due in large part to blacks. I would bet that not one person on this site could find on any "black" sites a similar praising of some random white athlete.

Man love! On a more serious note, I never felt like Guest301 when I was a kid. I remember during the 1977 season, I would count how many whites were starting and hoped they would win. I used to go to a predominately black grade school. In 3rd grade most of the black children were mock voting in school for McGovern. I instincively knew that R. Nixon was the better choice that the liberal democrat. The Point is, I knew as a child what my and races interest were. Too bad most whites stand by getting drunk at NFL games while their race is slowly being pushed ove a cliff!

Well I was only rooting for Wilder in the Semis probably. I am pretty sure I would have rooted against him in the finals. This is not rowing or ping pong, where a black victory won't do harm, I admit. But Wilder was a real interesting story, so I wanted to see him go down in the finals and end up with a Silver.

Whites have already done a ton to dispel the black superiority myth in boxing, despite Yahoo and their ilk trying to lie about it. I don't think a Silver for one black would have hurt anything. However, the guy that beat Wilder did end up with the Gold, so maybe it would have been Wilder with a gold instead and that could have been bad for our cause. Basically I felt bad for Wilder b/c he got gypped early on a very bad point call that rattled him and the guy has had a rough life.

Anyhow this was a very rare event for me to cheer for a black in a caste sport, even when comparatively this meant less than many other things. But in football, no way I could ever root for a black skill player over a white one no matter how great of a guy the black player was!

In boxing "generally" the best man in the ring that day wins, unless the judges or ref fixes the fight, Or there's a cut stoppage like in the Lennox Vs. Vatali fight. In football the best players rarely play b/c 67% of the population is basically denied even close to fair opportunity in the sport!

I can't root for a black. To me it doesn't matter what sport or anything. All my jerseys are whites, Favre, Steve Nash, Jeremy Shockey and my favorite player of all time Wayne Chrebet. I have seen the enormous amount of racism thrown at whites by blacks. Even though they are the real racists whites suffer the consequences in the real world. Why would I support someone that hates me?

Great news Deonte is turning pro and Riggins has up to 5 years to cheer for him here is the story.......Bronze medal winner Wilder to sign deal with Finkel

A week after receiving an Olympic bronze medal in the Beijing Olympics to complete his meteoric rise through the amateur ranks, heavyweight Deontay Wilder is turning pro.

[

Deontay Wilder won the only medal in boxing for the Team USA in Beijing -- a bronze.
The 22-year-old from Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Thursday signed a multi-year contract with powerful manager Shelly Finkel. Finkel will co-manage him with Jay Deas, who is also Wilder's trainer.

Finkel, who was back in New York on Friday after completing the deal, told ESPN.com that he was finalizing a promotional contract for Wilder with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.

"I was in Alabama on Thursday getting our deal done and next week he should be signed with Golden Boy," Finkel said. "His lawyer is looking at the contract."

Finkel said he planned for Wilder to have his first professional fight in November or December, but he said he would bring him to Las Vegas to introduce him to the boxing media at the Sept. 13 Joel Casamayor-Juan Manuel Marquez lightweight championship fight.

"My game plan right now is take it slow," Wilder said during an appearance on "Friday Night Fights" on ESPN2. "I'm just turning pro. & I'll learn some different things. I got great people coming in to work with me. I'm looking forward to this game."

Finkel said trainers Mark Breland and Ronnie Shields, both of whom are close with Finkel, would work with Wilder, who will also keep Deas in his corner. Wilder also will get a strength coach to build up muscle on his lean 6-foot-7, 200-pound frame.

"I believe at the end he'll be a 230- to 240-pound solid heavyweight with the right physical coach and dietician," Finkel said.

Finkel said he paid Wilder an undisclosed six-figure bonus and that Wilder would receive another six-figure bonus from Golden Boy. It's money that will go a long way to helping Wilder support his 3-year-old daughter Naieya, whose fight against the spinal cord disorder spina bifida was well-chronicled during Wilder's unexpected Olympic run.

Wilder, who didn't begin boxing until three days before his 20th birthday in 2005, was the only American to earn a boxing medal in Beijing. It was the worst performance for the United States in Olympic history. The 1948 team also only won a single boxing medal, but it was silver.

Although Wilder was the most inexperienced member of a U.S. squad that boasted two reigning amateur world champions in welterweight Demetrius Andrade and flyweight Rau'Shee Warren, he saved the team from a shutout.

Wilder, a former junior college basketball player at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, won two Olympic bouts to advance to the semifinals, where he lost 7-1 to reigning amateur champion Clemente Russo of Italy.

Now the pros beckon and Finkel has high hopes for the raw and powerful Wilder.

"He has great size and natural ability," Finkel said. "I knew he didn't have experience, but he's determined, he's athletic and he has ability he doesn't even know he has yet. In four to five years I would hope he is ready to fight for the heavyweight championship of the world."

Finkel knows a thing or two about heavyweights champions. He's managed former heavyweight champions Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Michael Moorer and currently manages unified titleholder Wladimir Klitschko and his older brother, former titleholder Vitali Klitschko.

It's good that Deontay Wilder has turned pro...

...because someday I'm going to enjoy watching one of my favorite fighters like 6'1" Denis Boytsov KO 6'7" Wilder!
smiley2.gif

Deontay doesn't have much talent, but he'll make good fodder for the white heavyweights.

I don't think he'll fight at cruiserweight as a pro. He only fought at under 200 in the Olympics because they thought he would have a better chance against smaller men. There's lots of heavyweight tomato cans for him to feast on during the next few years.Edited by: JD1986

They heavyweight division is stacked right now with Europeans and there are many more up and comers which I am unfamiliar with. Its going to be good boxing for years to come. Jd did you see Bowe vs Golota? Recently watched that fight on classic sports. I hadn't seen it for 10 years since it happened. From watching that fight Golota had the potential to be the best out there. His shots were so crisp and powerful. Bowe had never been beat that bad before. I don't know what happened to Golota I can only think what could have been.
