Since 2006, Texas Tech has started 7, 9, 8, 10, 7, 8, 5, 4, 7, 5, 6, 8, and 6. In 2020 there will be 9 white starters, which is the most since 2009.

The offense is highlighted by talented but often-injured Alan Bowman, who has two talented slot receivers in Dalton Rigdon and McLane Mannix who are 2 of the top 3 fastest players on the team. Mannix struggled in 2019 while Rigdon shined until he took a cheap shot that sidelined him for the final few games. RB Jax Welch could’ve been a contributor but he decided to leave the team to focus on law school. The snow plow OL is headlined by future NFL players Jack Anderson and Dawson Deaton who are some of the best TTU OL in recent memory. On defense look for Eli Howard to continue making plays in the backfield and Colin Schooler to be a menace like he has been his entire career. Texas Tech has tremendous depth on offense but is lacking on the defensive side.

Players to watch:
QB Maverick McIvor, QB Henry Columbi, WR McLane Mannix, WR/KR Caden Leggett, WR Sterling Galban, TE John Holcomb, TE Simon Gonzalez (white/Mexican mix), TE/FB Connor Killian, C Will Farrar, OG Connor Franks, OT Troy Bradshaw, OT Landon Peterson, OT Casey Verhulst, OT Zach Adams, LB Christian LaValle

QB Alan Bowman (SO)
WR Dalton Rigdon (JR)
LT Ethan Carde (SO)
LG Weston Wright (SO)
C Dawson Deaton (JR)
RG Jack Anderson (JR)
RT Josh Burger (SR)

DE Eli Howard (SR)
LB Colin Schooler (SR)

I like Bowman alot and hope he can avoid injuries. Schooler is a tackling machine - the Longhorns should of went after him too. You must be happy about this team @Red raider

This will be one of the teams we focus on here on this board. Many things to like and they should be very good in my honest opinion. Then in baskeball they also have Mac McClung now. Exiting time in both sports at Texas Tech!

I do like what Coach Wells is building at Texas Tech but it could be starting to go downhill in terms of our guys. He doesn't seem to offer white WR's like Kingsbury did but he is bringing in some solid transfers across the board. We'll see what happens but if some of the many white WR's on the roster (primarily Caden Leggett, Sterling Galban, and Cameron Cantrell) can move up in the coming years I will be happy. The current TE is a black JUCO senior and after him it should be all white guys for the next 4 years or so. I'd like to see more defensive players offered as well. The OL and QB situation looks really good for the present and future. This season should be a fun one with 7 of 11 on offense to root for and two 4 year starters on defense!

Another SnowPlow in the Big12?! Hell ya, Good to see Tech jump back up in starters. They've definitely got the star power now on defense with Schooler and Howard. WR as usual is promising, just wish they'd go after some young WRs to bring in.

*Tech has become a popular landing spot for both Basketball and Football. Mac, Mooney and now Schooler for Football.

@Red raider is it true you can see your dog running away for 2 weeks in Lubbock?

I mean it’s pretty flat until you get about 100-150 miles out or so but the town isn’t bad like people perceive it to be. Hell, I have more fun there than I do when I’m back in Dallas.

Thanks Red raider for the sterling report. I see you are using your alumni muscle to force TT to move in a less caste direction. Good job. Ha.

It dawns on me this looks like the fastest fleet of white wide receivers on a team in college football. Sterling Galban has suffered through injuries for two straight years but he was a 4.3-4.4 speedster coming out of high school . Hopefully all this white WR potential gets realized this season. One of the teams I am really looking forward to watching. I am still steamed about that dirty hit Rigdon took last year.

Sounds like a town I'd like. Never been to Texas, but I think I'd prefer a midsized Texas city over one of the Giant cities.

I wrecked a car in Lubbock ( completely my fault) smacked into a young girl with a luxury SUV. Her father was a mountain of a man, clearly an ex football player showed up on the scene super pissed, willing and ready to smash my face in. After telling the cop it was my fault multiple times in his squad car (the big guy was making a massive scene), he kept asking if she was at fault. I was supposed to report to a base in 2 days time which the cop was previously stationed at. He said beware of STD’s down there and please sneak the hell out as I’ll take care of this guy. Mexican cop did me a real solid in Lubbock, drove off 10 MPH with a broken tire rod and the giant SOB yelling the whole time. Good town, didnt see Bobby Knight.

TTU released the depth chart today, I got the number right but both of the tackles I got wrong. It’s not looking good for McLane Mannix, he’s listed 3rd as an OR with a true freshman. Dalton Rigdon is listed first but he’s listed as an OR with a black receiver. Mannix looked to be on the way to the NFL but his transfer may have ruined that for him. On the bright side, Caden Leggett is the #2 kick returner again.

As expected, Schooler won the starting MLB job after a week on campus. He’s THAT good. Texas Techs MLB last year was a 1st round pick, Schooler could put up similar numbers this year.
