Since 2005 starter list was 9,8,8,9,11,12,8,6,9,13,10,7,9 and 8 last year. This year about 8 but 5 of them are OL. You get the picture.

Since this team was "centered" around young black skill players like WR Rondale Moore I instinctively was turned off. The media wouldn't shut up about him. I imagine they will force feed him the ball at all costs this season. For all the hype Purdue had a losing record (6-7) last year. Auburn crushed them like a bug in their bowl game. A mainly black flash team that lacked some substance.

I feel the same way this season. Just can't get excited about this bunch which has a fairly standard caste layout. The key will be if some of the white depth rises to the top. They do have some potential young white studs but on the surface this team lacks white skill players which is nothing new in college football but I expect better from a team like Purdue.

The two deep includes OL Eric Miller, Sam Garvin and Will Bramel. RB Zander Horvath looks to play but is seen by most as a FB. TE Payton Durham. WR Jackson Anthrop is now a junior but only caught 8 passes last year. Look for him to become more involved. DE Jack Sullivan. QB Jack Plummer. S Brennan Thieneman.

One to watch is redshirt freshman WR Kory Taylor. He is an angular 6'5" speedster with a lot of talent.

Offense:

QB-Elijah Sindelar
OC-Viktor Beach
OG-Alex Criddle
OG-Jimmy McKenna
OT-Matt McCann
OT-Grant Hermanns

Defense:

DE-George Karlaftis- (a true freshman)
LB-Ben Holt

Yeah Shadowlight ...that was the Standard Caste blue print i remember most growing up as a kid in the 80's. Snow plow O-Line units were more common w the QB ; & Skill players almost always seemed to lack melanin. The Front Seven on Defense generally had 3 or 4 white players. Soul Patrol DB Units(as my Dad used to say) begin to emerge in the late 70's. Now entire Defenses are becoming this way more & more.

Karlaftis looks like the best NFL prospect at Purdue on Defense since Ryan Kerrigan.

After all of the 130 FBS write-up's are done....I'd be curious to see How Many Teams Start ZERO white players??

Excellent news regarding Horvath, huge RB! I'm assuming he must have some decent wheels.

Karlaftis is the next Ryan Kerrigan. He also has a highly rated younger brother that is a LB/S currently in HS.

Karlaftis has 6 sacks as a True Freshman! Leads Boilermakers in Sacks!

Ben Holt a Transfer from Western Kentucky leads the team in tackles with 99 and is 2nd leading tackler in Big Ten! Undersized, but tough and athletic!

Also Aidan O'Connell a former 4th string walk-on has been starting at QB due to injuries.

Unfortunately doesn't look like Purdue has any intention of using Horvath anymore. It's a shame he can't get more carries when they average a measley 40 running a game.
