Since 2006 Florida has started 6, 6, 6, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 4, 6, 5,and a dismal 1 in 2017. In 2018 the Gators may see a raise to 4 white starters! Hopefully new HC Dan Mullen is on to something here, 4 is still bad but its a start. At QB, big 6'5 235 (So) Kyle Trask should have the edge for the starting job, after mulatto Feleipe Franks played terrible last season throwing only 8 TD's for 9 Int's. Trask is viewed as the future, but Franks may steal a couple starts because his experience. No starters at WR or TE, but giant back-up TE (So) Lucas Krull 6'7 255 has been called their most intiguing TE option and will no doubt see PT. The OL will start the season 3/5 white which is a big upgrade from last season. Defense is on par with the SEC quota. (So) DT Tanner Rowell 6'2 285 is listed as a 3rd stringer, and could be part of a rotation. The only other white defenders on scholarship are wstd (Jr) LB Danny Weldon, and (Fr) S Nick Oelrich. Offense QB- Kyle Trask (So) 6'5 234 LG- Tyler Jordan (Sr) 6'4 320 C- Brett Heggie (So) 6'4 314 RT- Noah Banks (Jr) 6'5 309 Defense None Ones to watch in 2018: C Griffin McDowell, OG Nick Villano, OT Chris Bleich, TE Lucas Krull, DT Tanner Rowell, LB Danny Weldon, S Nick Oelrich
Bummer...Trask was on the verge of replacing Franks, but he broke his foot (just confirmed) in a non-contact injury during practice today and had to be carted off: Florida quarterback Kyle Trask suffered a serious, noncontact injury in practice Wednesday and was carted off the field, according to multiple reports, putting his availability for Saturday's game against South Carolina in doubt. Trask came on in relief of starter Feleipe Franks for the No. 15 Gators (6-3, 4-3) in the second half last week and gave the team a spark, completing 10 of 18 attempts for 126 yards and a touchdown in a 38-17 loss to Missouri.
