watching the Shot and they just panned to the 100 metre girls sitting there relaxing. Dafne looked tight lipped and tense, Luckenkemper seemed almost joyful. How will it play out?

As expected based on the semis....
I am glad though she keeps her season 10.point something in tact.
The last two years have seen her drop maybe 1.5/tenths form her banner years of 2015,2016 but she still has four consecutive years under 11 and another championship medal.
Gina was over the moon with her silver on German television. A bit teary and talking 10 to the dozen.
Asher-Smith has been getting gradually better and at 22 this has been her banner season. Seems a long time since when she got that 10.99 at 19

Tortu 5th in the final in 10.08. So-so result! Unfortunately he had no lean at the line whatsoever. It was as if he was out of the medals so didn't bother. The 3rd Brit leaned hard to pip him with a 10.06.
The Gold and Silver winning Brits were with him in and got away a bit to get their 9.95 and 9.96.
But Tortu's now up with the big boys of Europe.

Vicaut Did Not Start in the 100m Final.
It seems that has happened to him before. Need to go back and check.
But both he and his countryman Lemaitre, seem to come up short or injured on a regular basis.

Congrats to Gina Luckenkemper and Dafne Schippers for taking silver and bronze medals in the
womens 100 meters finals. I am especially proud of Luckenkemper. She is amazing. Two sub 11's
in the biggest championship of her life at only 21 years of age. Her poise and stamina were amazing.

As far as the men go it was very sad to watch. 7 of the 8 finalists were not white in a European 100 Meters
Finals. I was glad to see F. Tortu at least look descent. He ran a 10.08 for 5th. Not too bad a performance
considering there was no wind. Bigger and better things to come in the near future for this wonder kid.

So from a positive standpoints, We have a 21 year old Luckenkemper and 21 year old Tortu to inspire the
youth for the next decade. I really believe they will continue to inspire like Lemaitre and Guliyev have for
so long now.

I also want to congratulate D. Schippers for being one of the best female white sprinters I have ever seen. She
has struggled a lot this year but still pulled off the bronze medal. What a true champion she is. Love watching her.

It sure has happened before. Must disappoint French fans after an easy looking 9.95 semi. You'd think he'd line up since he needs not run again this year

I am still thinking Asher Smith is doping, you dont get that fast that quick...I might be wrong but I doubt it. Glad for Luckenkemper, abit sad for Schippers as she seems to be carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders last year and even more so this year.

If things keep going the way they are in Europe soon it will be called the European Negro T&F Championships...

Beyond her times there really isn't anything that screams PED's about Smith.

As for Schippers she has seemed a bit heavy the last few seasons. Maybe it's just aging but she doesn't seem as lean as when she first made a splash on the world scene.

Part of the problem on the men's side is Turkey imports athletes from Jamaica and other countries to represent them.
Britain and France are just full of immigrants and their children, etc. from their former colonies.

Well that is true and we can look at it in a negative way or a positive way. Gemeli, Guliyev and Lemaitre could
have all made the final. None of them were even entered in the event. Secondly if we our men and women to be
the best then they have to beat the best. Peds or not our men and women need to raise their game. I believe they
will. As I've said countless times there is nothing on earth that keep white sprinters from running these times. If you
have good genetics combined with hard work the times will come. We are on the verge of many, many more young
sprinters breaking through just like what is happening in Asia. The future is going to be exciting. So let's stay positive.

Why, in your opinion, are fast black athletes doping while fast whites aren't?
Asher-Smith ran 10.99 at 19, fell back a little to 11.0+ for 2 years and back to sub 11 last season and this.
She's now 22/23 and growing in expertise in her craft, getting better little by little then a bit of a spurt. That's usually how sprinters go.

Schippers improved to these sorts of times more quickly, has a square jaw and acne but we hate it if anyone dare accuse her of doping.

I certainly believe that black athletes from under-developed countries in Africa, and also from Jamaica are using PEDs.
I don't think it is a coincidence that countries like the Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Qatar have a dis-proportionate share of top athletes. As East Germany did in the 70s and 80s.
These countries don't have a strong athletic associations and testing programs.
At the same time, I think Dina Asher Smith is clean. She came up through the ranks as a top junior and has just been maturing and developing since.
I feel the same way about Dafne.

The 200m semi-finals are this afternoon, and I would say that Guliyev, Gemili, and Hortelano all look like strong possibilities to medal.
This could be a sweep of the medals among these three.

The womens 400mh final will be all white girls, should be a fantastically fast race! The mens 200m has all three of our guys in it although Gemili ran 20.46 and was the last qualifier, wonder if he has a niggle?

I would have to say Gemili is out of the medals.
I'm also disappointed that Alex Wilson (a Jamaican running for Switzerland), a journeyman sprinter, is suddenly at the age of 27, running top tier times.
He has always been a 2nd or 3rd level sprinter in Europe, but was the fastest qualifier in the semis.
He also looks very bloated. Put 2 and 2 together.

Yes Wilson was a journeyman at the European level and a non factor at the World level and he looked somewhat fat compared to his buffed look he has now. If he is 27 he must be visiting Greg Oden's beautician.....

Luckenkemper and Schippers 100m, is it just me or did Schippers look completely stressed out at the start line, even red in the cheeks.

Excellent video. I want to point out that Gina Luckenkemper had her worst start of the season. She was just about dead last
out of the blocks. In a post race interview she said that she had an issue with her starting blocks. They were the short kind that they don't usually use for championship races. I don't want to have too sour oats here but her top end speed is with any female sprinter in the world. She ran down everyone except the winner. Luckenkemper with a better start makes this a very interesting race. She usually is a quick starter. I still am amazed at how she walked down almost everyone except Smith. Her future is so bright. She will be the face of German Sprinting for a long time. I believe she has sub 10.90 potential and in time she will prove it.

I do agree that Dafne Schippers looked unusually stressed & nervous which is odd for her.

Wow
Guliev first in 19.76, Hortelano 4th 20.04

He almost broke the European All Time 200 Meters Record by Pietro Mennea of 19.72! What an epic performance. Wow he even
surpassed Lemaitre when he ran a 19.80 around 6 years ago. Phenomenal time by Guliyev. He is a legend now and
will be talked about and remembered for decades. How much faster can he go? This is at the end of a summer where
he raced as much as any sprinter on earth. The guy is a machine! Woohoo. I'm so pumped.

Sad for Hortelano. So close and he tied his national record again. I was hoping he would get a sub 20 and medal. Still
a fantastic performance.

No it's the championship record. Mennea still has the European record of 19.72A. Guliyev could have set area record if he was at Trieste as he easily would have done a 19.5X at altitude. He may have set the record if he ran through the line...
