I am pretty amazed how the Chargers have thrown Cardale Jones into the conversation as a viable number 2 quarterback yet they have given what seems to be no consideration to Mike Bercovici.

Cardale Jones, an affeletic train wreck waiting to happen. It a sick joke he is on a pre season NFL roster.

Bengals vs Chiefs: 3 winners and 4 losers from second preseason game

Alex Erickson finally had his breakout NFL game as a pass-catcher. The ace returner hasn’t done much in the pass-catching department up to this point in his career, but that changed in a big way against the Chiefs.

Erickson’s highlight of the night came on a 31-yard reception towards the end of the first quarter to put the Bengals in field-goal range. It would have been the longest catch in the preseason or regular season during his rookie campaign, as he was rarely featured in the passing game in 2016.

However, Erickson has consistently drawn praise this offseason for his improved pass-catching and ability to get open now that he knows the playbook. There was almost no chance he wasn’t making the final roster, even if he were to have a poor preseason showing, but this should all but lock up his spot on the final squad.

While the defense as a whole struggled, Nick Vigil was a rare bright spot on Saturday night for the Bengals. Vigil was all over the field against the Chiefs, making plays in the backfield and in coverage that we rarely see from other linebackers in this defense.

Vigil looked like the best linebacker on the field for the Bengals on Saturday. He looks well on his way to locking down that starting strong side linebacker spot, which he should keep for a long time.

Love how the writer has to put in "now that he knows the playbook." As if some rookie affelet with a 71 IQ can master the playbook and be the 3rd receiver on opening day. Typical cast writer who now has to admit Erickson has talent and should have played on receiver last year. BS!

Anquan Boldin retires rather than stay with the Bills. Guess he wasn't thrilled experiencing Tyrod's scatter arm up close and personal. Buffalo has become one of the most disgusting NFL organizations along with Seattle, just behind reigning Caste System champion Oakland.

ESPN's Jim Trotter reports Anquan Boldin has elected to retire. He lasted 13 days after signing a one-year deal. After the Bills made the unprecedented maneuver to trade both their best wide receiver AND cornerback just weeks before the start of the season, 37-year-old Boldin decided it wasn't worth it staying in Buffalo anymore. He had been running with the first-team offense. The Bills are left with Zay Jones and Jordan Matthews with Andre Holmes and Rod Streater behind them. We wouldn't be surprised if Boldin resurfaced with a team in a few weeks. We would be surprised if the Bills won more than a handful of games this season. The new regime is off to a rocky start.

Lol good decision by Boldin.. What a crappy group of upsiders Buffalo is left with at WR! They're going to be in for another long season followed by another rebuilding phase come next offseason.

It is totally amazing that the GM can not see what NE is doing to be successful.

Said before, looking forward to NE and Burkhead tearing it up big-time in 2017. We got a taste of that last night. BB is a genius, saw the potential in Rex and will he exploit it.!

Laugh of the day from some fantasy site I'd never heard of before. Black RB averages just 3.0 yards per carry but it was "leagues ahead" of Zach Zenner, who had just four runs and averaged 2.0 ypc. Yeah, four carries in a preseason game is a tremendous sample to work from. Even the headline is funny. Guess what Tesla, your boy Washington didn't play very well!

Dwayne Washington outperforms the competition yet again
By Shane McCormack, Lions Correspondent,

Dwayne Washington led all Detroit running backs in both attempts (8), rushing yards (24), and total yards (35). Fantasy Impact
Washington didn't see any action until the first half was nearly over, but when he was on the field he was put to use. His 3.0 yards per carry won't be blowing away any of his coaches, but it was leagues ahead of teammate Zach Zenner, who ran the ball only four times for a total of eight yards. Washington also caught the only catch-able pass thrown his way for a gain of 11 yards.

From Weenieworld. Looks like both Anzalone and A. J. Klein will be starting at LB:

Saints third-rounder Alex Anzalone is in the lead for the team's weak-side linebacker job. Craig Robertson and former first-round pick Stephone Anthony are still in the mix, but Anzalone is the frontrunner after starting and showing well in the second preseason game. Anzalone's career at Flordia was derailed by injury, but there has never been any question about his talent. He could end up being a massive value pick for the Saints.

Deshaun Watson finishes the day with a 30% completion rate, yet according to him, he did "pretty good" I have a feeling the Texans will be looking for another QB in three years

Saints Rookie LB Alex Anzalone had the speed & agility of a Running Back in HS Summer Camps...knew he was special when an SEC team like Florida actually went up to Pennsylvania to recruit him. AJ Klein could be on the verge of being one of the NFL's Leading Tacklers in a new Starting role with the Saints.
Rookie D-End Trey Hendrickson was getting comparisons to Rob Ninkovich last night....LB Nate Stupar nearly had a Pick Six

Packers Back-up (Rookie-free agent)QB Taysom Hill has been well documented here in the past...after his Human Highlight Reel game vs. Texas in College...he had multiple knee injuries....leaving him a shell of his former self running-wise(just when his passing game was really improving )....
.....until Saturday night...looks like he got some of that mobility back!! Announcer said "every other QB would have slid at the 10 yard line; but he's a rookie"
Check it out..putting defenders on skates

Here is his TD Run vs Texas pre-injury

Crazy to see Matakevich, Chickillo and Watt on the field for the Steelers defense. I think the last time they had three white defensive starters was when I was still a fan with DE Aaron Smith, NT Chris Hoke and DE Brett Keisel many years ago.

Chickillo ended the game with 5 solo tackles, most of any Steeler, including 2 sacks. Matakevich had 4 tackles, 1 solo. Watt had 4 tackles, 2 solo. It will take injuries to Bud Dupree and Vince Williams for either Chickillo or Matakevich to see much regular season action, or maybe if Williams flops as Lawrence Timmons' replacement. Other than that, and other LBs like Arthur Moats might still get the call before them, it's going to be another year of racial apprenticeships even though both have starting talent.

This really ticks me off. First round draft picks Paxton Lynch and Jared Goff both roundly proclaimed as busts already -- based on nothing other than routine rookie struggles. Lynch had all of 83 pass attempts last year, and actually wasn't that bad. His combination of size, running ability and arm strength is very rare, yet it appears Denver has it in for him, with the hearty cooperation of the media. Could you imagine the reaction if a black QB with similar attributes was summarily given up on before he even had a chance to prove himself? Fortunately Goff is actually getting an opportunity to develop by the new regime in LA and is coming along nicely.

From Weenieworld: Paxton Lynch has lost the Broncos' quarterback battle to Trevor Siemian. For the second straight year, 2016 first-round pick Lynch was unable to unseat 2015 seventh-rounder Siemian despite superior theoretical tools. Lynch has a big arm and plus athleticism, but he has shown no ability to deliver accurate passes downfield. The Broncos may have to go back to the drawing board at quarterback next offseason. Siemian has a low ceiling, and Lynch isn't cutting it.

Chad Hansen caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Lions. Hansen easily saw the most reps amongst the Jets' receiving corps Saturday, so it's clear that New York management wants to see what they have in the first-year Cal product. Notably, both he and fellow rookie ArDarius Stewart vastly out-snapped Charone Peake, who was only on the field for two plays and seems to be falling out of favor with the team. Thus, it seems Hansen is moving up the depth chart. and he could therefore be in store for another large workload in the third preseason game Saturday against the Giants.

I'm not a Jets Fan but Hansen could make me tune into more games. He is a very good receiver with speed to take
it to the house. Great all around wide out. I'm excited to see what he can do. I'm hoping that Petty wins the starting
quartback job as he is getting better all of the time. I hope the Jets put some belief behind both of these guys!

Tuning in to the Browns vs Giants. Gruden calling out NYGs sumo tackles as liabilities! Their OL stinks, gave up 7 sacks last week vs Pitt!

Boring game so far. Giants defense looks good but they are playing the Brown's. Giants offense could be in trouble with weak OL and RB, Paul Perkins is their starter..

Kizer looks horrible. Zero pocket presence taken a lot of big hits and been sacked three times. Not impressed by Duhshone or Duhsean lol

Lynch was a known work in progress when he came out in 2015 - raw but very talented. It obviously takes good coaching and it hurts that Kubiak is no longer in Denver. I would think that Elway would be happy with letting Lynch sit and learn since he picked him in 2015 - he is only 23 years old. The 24/7 sports media has to make up issues where one does not really exist and the DWFs eat it up because they don't think for themselves. A pragmatist would see the benefit of sitting Lynch and letting him develop but there is no pragmatism as it applies to white athletes.
