Richard Kilty hasn't run a 200 meters race in two years but that will change this thursday night in Oslo, Norway. I hope he has enough time to recover after two very hard races today. If he is recovered enough, I expect him to run a time of around 20.30's or so since he hasn't run the deuce in a long time. With a few more 200 meters contests whether in training or races, it can help him to get that elusive sub 10. He could have had it today but he tied up just slightly in the last 10 meters. Despite this he held his from very well to finish with that new p.b.

I think Kilty may run a very good 200 meter time. As far as recovery, we are not talking Lemaitre over here...Kilty is better trained, COACHED, and much stronger, too bad he dosen't have that natural top end speed like Lemaitre has... or had at one time.

"Richard Kilty, who finished fifth in a personal best of 10.05, promised he would soon be following Gemili in the sub-10 second club. “I’ll break 10 seconds, for sure,†he said. “Once I get my starts like indoors and get my race together, it’s just a matter of time.
“I’m finally finding my feet in the outdoors. I’m not going to rush it. Once I come into a race fresh I can definitely break the sub-10-second barrier.†"

This season's fastest whites and Asians are now as follows:

Gemeli 9.97 (2.0w)
Kilty 10.05 (2.0w)
Teeters 10.07 (1.9w)
Guliyev 10.12 (1.9w)
Sven Knipphals 10.13 (1.9w)
Lemaitre 10.16 (0.6w)

Bingtian Su 9.99 (1.5w)
Kei Takase 10.09 (-0.1w)
Peimeng Zhang 10.15 (1.8w)
Yoshi Kiryu 9.87w (3.3w)

I think if we could put the best of these guys in one race they would finish in this order:

1/ Gemeli
2/ Su
3/ Kilty
4/ Teeters
5/ Kiryu
6/ Takase
7/ Lemaitre
8/ Guliyev

Lemaitre has fallen so far that he is basically an also-ran, even in all white/Asian 100m.

Lemaitre is the fastest and most raw natural of all these sprinters...he is just a victim of a brainless, unconfident coach and environment.

John Teeters is not running in the 4x100 preliminaries for OSU, not sure if this strategic or due to injury

I hope it's that they think they have a strong enough team to qualify and leave him fresh to anchor the final. Certainly hope he's healthy.
I saw he ran good times 2 weeks ago in preliminaries but never saw a "finals" result. I'm not sure how these meets must work

Wow, here's to hoping Teeters is able to run his 100m.

Zach Taylor a sophomore from Mississippi State ran a 10.66 in the decathlon 100m, very impressive for an underclassmen multi-eve yet. Estonian Maicel Uibo is leading the decathlon thus far and may end up breaking the NCAA record tomorrow. He's jumped 24-7 and 7'1" already today.

"Teeters is scheduled to compete in the 100-meter semifinals at 7:16 p.m. Wednesday. But he pulled a quad muscle in practice last week, and his status was unclear as of Tuesday afternoon."

from this article:

Teeters is in the semi-final with the 2 fastest guys in the NCAA this year.
If he is not 100%, it will be very very difficult for him to even get through to the final - if he even runs.

Overall disappointing day IMO. Teeters was injured and didn't run the 100. Watts looked out of form in the 200. Johnathan Cabral finally lived up to his hype and ran the second fastest time to get into the final. Matthew Viverette of Sam Houston State looked like he was gonna sneak into the final but he came off a hurdle very, very awkwardly and fell way behind. Notre Dame senior Christopher Giesting had a very disappointing performance in the 400 and missed out on qualifying. Zach Bilderback got in with a 45.53 PR. Jussi Kanervo and David Kendziera got in the 400m hurdle final. Pau Tonnesen, Maicel Uibo, and Scott Filip are the decathlon leaders.

Huge tip of the hat to young Laura Muir. She ran an incredibly gutty race to win the Oslo Diamond League 1500 today, over some top Ethiopians, among others.

Laura was the only runner with the grit to follow the pacer. For two and a half grueling laps she built a huge lead over the field. Then, running completely alone, she dug deep, kept up a hard pace and held off everyone with margin to spare.

Laura (a Scot) has really been coming on this year, looking formidable at both 800 and 1500. Remember the name!

The Great Britain 4 x 100 Relay Squad of Gemeli, Robertson, Ujah and Kilty won the gold medal today at the European Team Champs. They broke the European 4 x 100 Relay Record running a blister 38.25 for the gold! These guys can really fly. I believe all of them are under 25 so they should be potential medal threat at the World Champs later this summer.

I believe the team was Kilty, Talbot, Robertson, and Ellington.
Gemeli is injured, but if he had been available, the team would have been even faster.

Great Britain can put together an incredible relay team using Kilty, Gemeli, Robertson, and Talbot.
All of them are white - or mostly so. I think Talbot is maybe 1/4 black.

By the way, Robertson ran 10.22 in the B race of the 100m.

I appreciate the update jacknyc. Yeah they are a pale squad for sure and it's good to see. Similar to Germany.

Glad to see Andrew Robertson still running fast times. That was his second 10.20s time this month. He is rounding into form for the British Nat'l Champs. Wish the kid got funding and he didn't have to work a regular job. Robertson is very talented.

Carina Horn of South Africa (I've mentioned her somewhere here before) ran a wind legal 11.16 today in Finland. Very good time.
Meanwhile at the US Championships, Jenna Prandini moved forward in the heats of the 100m, as did Patrick Feeney in the 400m.
Meanwhile, John Teeters was not on the start lists for the 100m, so he must still be injured. His season is effectively over I think. And Jeremy Wariner scratched in the 400m.

At this moment, almost all of the sprinters we support are injured:
Teeters
Lemaitre
Gemili
and now Kilty - hamstring tear.
plus Yoshi Kiryu of Japan.
Very bad luck!

Look at Gina Lückenkempe (born 11/96):
She's only 18 years old and ran a 11,25 (+0,9) in Wetzlar (fast track).

Are you sure about that Kilty hamstring tear? I Googled and couldn't find any mention of it.

Also, Wariner didn't scratch in the 400. He ran a season's best and made it to the semis on time. Still, he has a ways to go to catch up with the youngsters.

Yes regarding Kilty.
He said he is skipping the British Championships because of a hamstring problem - maybe not a tear.

What a damn shame. I do admit though that his coach Linford Christie runs the kid too much. He never gives him enough time to recover. He races twice as much as Lemaitre.
