I wanted to start a thread to discuss the results of the Euro Under 23 Championshps. The field is stacked with great talent of some of the rising starts from europe. We should see some really fast times if the weather stays warm.

The Euro Under 23 Championships starts in around 9 hours from now. One thing to look forward to is Gemeli vs Horvat in the 100. Gemeli has run 10.19 this year while Horvat has run 10.20. There are some other young guys that could suprise us too with personal bests. It should be a really great competition to watch as will the rest of the track events. Here is the link to watch it live for free.

Well they have run the quarterfinals and semi finals of the mens and womens 100 meters. At the moment, Gemeli is the favorite on the mens side and Schippers on the womens side. Schippers needs to become a full time sprinter. She ran a 11.20 in the quarters and an 11.30 in the semis into a monster win. Her p.b. is 11.09 from a couple of weeks ago. She is very tall and also powerful. Her potential in the 100 is very good in my opinion. She is good in the heptathalon but her future is the sprints if she is smart. She has sub 11 written all over her. I hope she wins the gold tommorow. I would be shocked if she didn't. The womens final is very white friendly. Check it out guys.

On the mens side Gemeli is a man among boys at the moment. He ran a 10.18 like a jog in the park and he won by several meters. He is such a likable chap. Always smiling and very friendly to the other competitors until he blows them away. I was hoping Dario Horvat of Crotia would do better. His p.b is 10.20 from around a month ago and he also ran two other times in the low 10.20's along with a wind aided 10.18 at 2.1! This kid has potential but the long colllege season appears to have taken it's toll. He is in the final but drew lane two due to his very slow semi final time. This race is Adam Gemelis and everyone else is runnng for 2nd or 3rd. I would like to see some of our other guys put on a good show. Here is the lineup for the mens 100 meters final in the euro under 23 champs.

Here is an interview with Adam Gemeli after his big semi final win. In the interview he is asked if he is dissapointed that Jimmy Vicaut pulled out of the European Under 23 Championships at the last minute. I will let you guys watch it. Gemeli had the UK Trials this weekened just like Vicaut has the French Trials but I'm sure both have a ticket regardless. Good luck to Gemeli in the final.

Both of them were so dominant through all the rounds and especially in the finals when it counted the most. We are looking at two potential olympic medalists someday. I really like to watch both of them run. I wish Dafne could have had better conditions to break her p.b. of 11.09! She could have smashed it with a little wind. As I said before, she is destined to go sub 11. I would be really upset if she goes back the heptatalon because she is a natural sprinter.

Gemeli will go sub 10 most likely either this summer or next. He has a few things to work on but he still makes these times look so easy.
