Hey guys. We have another white guy in the NBA Dunk Contest. I think that Chase Budinger has a good chance of winning this contest. He has won dunk contests in high school and at college in Arizona. The kid can fly. He probably chose to enter it due to the Rockets dumb decision to bring him off the bench instead of keeping him in the starting lineup. The kid has so much potential and he is wasting away sitting on the pine half the game. Oh well. I'm pumped to see him in this contest. This blonde hair, blue eyed guy can help to continue to break down stereotypes.

Kevin Love will be in the three point contest too. I can see memories of Larry Bird as you don't see too many big men stroke the three like he can. Good luck to both of these great basketball players.

It would be awesome if he could actually win the dunk contest. He certainly has a chance as his athleticism and vertical is up there with the best in the league. He would be the first white guy to win since Brent Barry in the mid 90's.

We are only a day away from All Star Sat. Night. I'm really pumped about Chase being in the Dunk Contest. I think he has a chance to win. This is the first year that the fans will decide the winner by text voting. So for the guys here, give Chase some support. I'm also looking forward to the 3 point contest.

Only two whites, Love and Anderson, out of seven in the three point contest. No that long ago the three point contest was half white.

So we will root for Anderson and Love. I agree with you though that we should see alot more white guys in it. Jimmer would do amazing in the 3 point contest. Steve Nash, the kid from the Knicks, JJ Reddick and others.

It would make my night if Chase could win the Dunk Contest. Don't forget to vote guys.

I'd say the two best three point shooters of all time are Larry Bird and Drazen Petrovic.

Great choices. Mark Price, Steve Kerr, and Steve Nash are just a few of countless others.

Congrats to Kevin Love on winning the three point contest!

Chase got ripped off in the dunk contest. He was the shortest contestant and he had good dunks the entire contest. He also only missed twice while the other thee giants(around 7ft) missed so many times I would need a calculator to add the totals. One guy took 10 attempts no just one dunk alone. Budinger won but the dumb ass fans in America are too brainwashed to let a guy with blonde hair and blue eyes win despite him clearly being the best dunker!!

The voting was so close. Chase just about won it! Damn I wish he would have. At least some of the fans saw the truth about who the best dunker was last night.

ORLANDO -- With the game's biggest stars watching from courtside, Saturday night's Sprite Slam Dunk contest provided an opportunity for a fresh new face to introduce himself to the NBA's global audience.

And that's exactly what Jeremy Evans did.

A relative unknown and former D-Leaguer, the Utah Jazz forward won the 2012 Sprite Slam Dunk contest, defeating Houston's Chase Budinger in a tight race that included 4 million voters on NBA.com deciding the champion rather than a panel of judges.

Evans collected 29 percent of the fan vote to Budinger's 28 percent, instantly making a name for himself after not even being an original invitee.

Eric Freeman, who writes Yahoo's white-hating "Ball Don't Lie" (only liars do) unsurprisingly listed Budingers dunks as the WORST of the night. If you don't feel like reading about his black superheroes who had the "best" dunks, here is the bottom rankings where he slams Chase:

10. Chase Budinger "honors" Cedric Ceballos while dunking with a thin blindfold. At 1992's dunk contest in Orlando, Cedric Ceballos won by dunking with a blindfolded that he could very obviously see through. Budinger chose to "honor" Ced by blindfolding himself. The first attempt was hilarious, as Budinger came up well short and caused everyone to think that he'd blundered by using a real blindfold. That idea was quickly proven wrong with his second attempt, in which he took off from exactly the right spot to execute a reverse jam. This dunk was scripted, hammy, and totally indicative of the overdetermined approach Budinger brought to his first dunk contest.
11. Chase Budinger does Derrick Williams's motorcycle dunk, just without the motorcycle. There are few things worse than when a dunk contestant tries a less impressive version of a dunk that another competitor had finished several minutes earlier. Yet, here was Chase Budinger, trying the same windmill as Derrick Williams without a motorcycle to provide a gimmick. For some reason, Budinger didn't realize the problematic nature of this dunk and carried out his original plan. He came to this dunk contestant with no belief in the power of spontaneity.
12. Chase Budinger kind of dresses like Woody Harrelson in "White Men Can't Jump," jumps over Diddy for some reason. Yes, while Budinger might have attempted the most boring dunk and Derrick Williams had massive problems completing one of his, this dunk takes the crown as the worst of the night, because it was indicative of everything wrong with the contest as it currently exists. There was a reliance on props — Budinger's entire schtick involved throwing a snapback on backwards and wearing a Sprite t-shirt, as if everyone could immediately identify that as inspired by Billy Hoyle. There was the unnecessary inclusion of a celebrity — Diddy has no connection to the movie and isn't even very tall. There was no spontaneity or surprise — the concept was the entire point. And, in a very sad development, the dunk itself has been done many times in recent years.

The majority of writers on Yahoo are as liberal and white hating journalists as you will find. This guy is full of sh**.

The fans saw it different as Chase nearly won. He should have won but at least he finished a close 2nd out of 4 dunkers!

As I've said countless times. White Men Can Jump! In fact we are the greatest vertical jumpers in the world. From the high jump in athletics where we dominate to volleyball and basketball. It's just funny how most of the athletic white guys never get scholarships or they never get drafted by the nba. Only a handful of guys have. It seems like the league mostly only wants a small percentage of white guys with most of them being only slightly athletic.

All anyone has to do is go to youtube.com where you can find multitudes of white guys dunking over cars and doing all of the dunks that Kobe, Lebron and Vince Carter have done. Jacob Tucker proved this last year winning the National College Slam Dunk Contest at only 5'10 inches tall. He was even more explosive than Spud Webb could ever dream of being. Jacob has a 52 inch vertical. I have never seen anyone jump that high. Whites in a fair world would win countless dunk contests!

white lightning, this probably belongs on the track & field thread, but to let you know about a possible up an comer, Duke Sophomore Tanner Anderson had the 5th best high jump of the year at 7'4.25. An injury cost him a chance to compete in the NCAA's.

He jumped 7'2 in high school, I believe is the second best jump ever for a high schooler. Am I correct?

There was a White guy in Marietta, GA (Pat Gallagher) who jumped 7'0 in 1986. He also played hoops on Sprayberry's 86 state runner up team. I believe he went on to compete for Georgia Tech.

please pardon the re-post, but in light of the recent comments in this thread i thought it fitting to bring my post over from the 2012 indoor track thread ...

Jimmy Chitwood said:
i've posted about the South Dakota State basketball team quite a bit this year, thanks to their terrific point guard Nate Wolters. however, the best dunker on campus doesn't even play on the Jackrabbits' hoop team ...

Jared Vlastuin, a jumper on the men's track team, is phenomenal in the air whether it be the high jump and long jump (his specialties on the track) or on the hardwood with a basketball in his hand. yesterday, he broke his own SDSU school record in the high jump with a leap of 7-feet 1-inch en route to winning the Summit League high jump Indoor Championship. he also took 2nd place in the long jump, with a leap of 24-feet 5-inches (he missed the title by 1/2 inch).

on the basketball court, well, let the pictures to do the talking.

speaking of high flyers, Air Force freshman Kobi Rex took home the Mountain West Indoor high jump title with a leap of 7-feet 1/4-inch. not bad, especially when you consider he's only 6-feet-2.

the claim that White men can't jump is laughable, because there are obviously many who can.
