The Packers are the choice to be the dominant team in the NFL during 2014-'16. Not mentioned in the article is that the Packers are the Whitest team in the league along with the Patriots, the team that has been most prominent in the AFC during the past decade and looks to continue that trend.

Future shock: Packers will own 2014-16

If you expect your team to stand out in the NFL in three to five years, it's a given you need at least three of the following ingredients beyond a young, stud quarterback:

Star young players just coming into their prime on offense.
Star young players -- especially a pass-rusher -- just coming into their prime on defense.
Great coaching. A top-flight personnel department that knows what it takes to build through the draft and doesn't rely on free agency.
A solid to above-average running game is nice, but in today's passing-dominated league, it's like parsley. It's nice decoration, but it's not a requirement.

If you have all of these key ingredients -- and you're also coming off a Super Bowl title --- you have a good chance to be very good, maybe even dominant, in three to five years. Take a bow, GM Ted Thompson, coach Mike McCarthy and the Green Bay Packers. With a superstar quarterback (27-year-old Aaron Rodgers), a rising young superstar-in-waiting at tight end (Jermichael Finley), a solid offensive line and a young, deep defense led by linebacker/wild man Clay Matthews, your team is the pick of the ESPN.com Pigskin Panel to be the NFL's dominant team from 2014 to 2016.

"It's rare that a defending Super Bowl champion is considered an up-and-coming team, but that's exactly what the Packers are," ESPN.com AFC West blogger Bill Williamson said.

With six votes from our 24-person panel, the Packers didn't exactly win the popular vote in a landslide. Two other teams with young standout quarterbacks -- Tampa Bay (Josh Freeman) and Atlanta (Matt Ryan) -- finished second and third with five and four votes respectively. With three votes each, the Steelers and Rams tied for fourth. Four other teams received one vote apiece. Freeman, coming off a monster second season (25 TDs vs. six picks), will only be 26 in 2014. Ryan, 33-15 as a starter, will only be 29 at the start of the 2014 season.

"Tampa Bay's biggest hurdle is the division it plays in," ESPN.com AFC North blogger James Walker said. "But once the window closes on the New Orleans Saints and quarterback Drew Brees, who's 32, the Bucs and Atlanta Falcons should battle for NFC South supremacy."

The panel will weigh in on hot NFL issues throughout the season.

Green Bay will start 9 whites this season. I checked their roster and I only found 15 whites on the active. That's quite a drop from last season. Also, the only white backup on defense is Frank Zombo.

Yeah and Zombo will be out for a while with a broken shoulder blade! Green Bay has definitely gotten darker in one years time and most DWFS don't even notice/care.

So what is the "whitest" NFL team this year? New England?

Jordy Nelson starting for GB, although in the opening credits they listed the FB Kuhn and two WRs as starting. Jordy with 3 catches and a TD in the first two drives.....:clap2:

Your welcome, Dixie! Glad it works for you. Took me a few minutes to find one that actually worked and was free.

The blackening (sickening) of the Packers —

The Packers' team that won Super Bowl XLV had 10 white starters and 25 white players on the roster.

During the offseason, the team released eight white players. They drafted three whites (one made the team, one was traded, one was cut). They signed 15 undrafted free agents, only one of which was white (he did not make the team). Three of the non-white undrafted free agents made the team, six made the practice squad. Therefore, the offseason equation equals -7 white players on the team; eight cuts, one draftee added. (Additionally, only one white player is on the team's practice squad).

Is this a league edict? If the Patriots, Rams, and Texans have successful seasons, which is likely, will their rosters undergo the same changes during the following offseason; especially should one of these teams win the Super Bowl (most likely the Patriots, the current whitest team in the NFL)?

It's almost as if Mike Sherman has become the head coach again. It's one of the quickest blackenings of a team I've ever seen, except that many of the remaining White players remain key starters. Very disappointing and very disgusting; the Packers should remain an elite team because of their youth at most starting positions, but it's almost certain they will rapidly decline in a few seasons. With their rabid fan base, they will sell out every home game no matter how good or bad (or black) they are.

Frank Zombo - LB - Packers

Packers OLB Frank Zombo (shoulder) expects to return to practice next week.

Zombo had an X-ray of his fractured shoulder blade on Thursday. "I feel 100 percent, I feel great," said Zombo, "and so basically once they take a look at that, they’ll determine when I can get back." Erik Walden is Pro Football Focus' 27th-ranked outside linebacker through three weeks, so Zombo could regain his starting job in a few weeks.

27th ranked OLB while benefiting from playing with Clay Matthews?! Yeah Zombo should take over soon.

Ryan Grant is out for Sunday's game so we'll see. . .

Packers coach Mike McCarthy indicated Friday that John Kuhn will see an increase in carries in Week 4 against Denver. "We’ll see how the game goes," McCarthy said. "Our primary rotation will be with James Starks and John Kuhn. And Alex (Green) will get in there at some point." Kuhn has already vultured two one-yard touchdowns, but the Packers have been leaning toward a hot-hand backfield all season. Kuhn has exceeded nine carries once in his career. If Starks starts hot, he's likely to remain the primary ball carrier in this favorable running-game matchup.

Placed S Nick Collins on injured reserve. Signed G/T Ray Dominguez from the practice squad

The comments at the JS were yanked after about 100 of them, not sure how negative they were.

The Packers will be putting black sumo Derrick Sherrod on IR at some point this week, and due to injuries to him and other O-lineman, I'd guess that he will be replaced by another O-lineman. It will be an interesting test to see who they sign to replace him, yet another sumo or an actual white player.

Some websites, Walterfootball for one, are claiming that Greg Jennings being out was a big reason for Green Bays loss this weekend. What a bunch of bs! Jordy Nelson has proven he's just as good, if not better, than Jennings yet he hardly got any looks during the game. Just another example of the huge double standard when it comes to white athletes.
