So Knowshon has been replaced by Washaun...that fumble on the 2 yd line was a back-breaker for the Dawgs.

I like Chapas & Munzenmaier...not your typical run of the mill Fullbacks...they need more carries! Richt is going to be run out of town if the afflete's can't hang on to the ball.Edited by: TwentyTwo

Rex Burkhead just went over 100 yards! He has 13 for 104 and a TD!

You beat me to it Colonel_Reb. What a great td run by Burkhead using his hand to keep his balance as he ran though the hole. What a gifted back this kid is and their qb Martinez is incredible as well. DeLugi is having a nice game for BYU as well but it looks like they will lose.

Zach Line played well today for SMU. 8 for 82 yards (10.3) and a 10 yard reception. Even though he had to split carries with afflete Butler, he seriously outplayed him. I think Zach has solidified his position as RB#1 now, even if next week brings a bad performance. It's a rare thing for a white RB to have a guaranteed starting job. Even a loud sneeze can cause them to permanently lose their spot on the depth chart.
He might have had a better day, but they had to take what Wazzu was giving them. And the receivers were open all game long. Padron had 280 yards passing and 4TD as well as 32 yards on the ground and a rushing TD.

When I was watching the Navy Vs La Tech game I noticed a white runningback, Ray Holley, getting a few carries for Louisiana Tech, he is a junior college transfer, they said he ran for 1500 yards last year

Here are his highlights from that
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8uGdX7Nt0k

Hopefully his carries will increase as he is only seeing a few carries, he is still a junior. Hes averaging 5+ ypcEdited by: snow

Joe "The Show" Glendening a sophomore at Hillsdale (rugged D2 GLIAC) has 500 yards thru three games, averaging 5.4 a carry with 6 TDs. I touted this kid back at East Grand Rapids, where he was just as good as Kevin Grady, who was an All-American then a flop at Michigan.

Speaking of Hillsdale, it looks like Raiders rookie left tackle Jared Veldheer is about to sicplace Mario Henderson at Oakland.

Kyle Minett of the South Dakota State Jackrabbits finished with 115 yards on 29 carries in their 17-3 loss, but valiant effort, against Nebraska.http://cstv.collegesports.com/ncaa_mt/mt-search.cgi?blog_id=180&tag=Kyle%20Minnet&limit=20&IncludeBlogs=180

While not a very explosive game for the Nebraska offense, glad to see that Martinez and Burkhead lead in rushing with Rex getting the 3 yd TD.

We really need to see some of these type of games in the bigger match ups, where the leading rushers on both teams are white!

SMU tailback Zach Line had a big day on Saturday.

the "hard-working, blue collar, overachieving, gym rat" tailback for small-school South Dakota State, Kyle Minett, rushed for 112 yards against the Nebraska defense.

Nate Eachus, yet another "unheralded, overlooked, undersized fullback" at a small school dominated against Division I competition. The Colgate star ran for 147 yards and a touchdown against Syracuse on Saturday.

UConn's explosively fast Robbie Frey finally got the chance to carry the ball and had a terrific day. some who pay attention may recall his game-breaking ability when he returned a handful of kickoffs last year ... and took one the distance (pictured below).

I have to admit that I'm dissapointed with Rutgers. I know Martinek had a slight injury but they are almost totally ignorring him now. He is there star running back. Rutgers is now 2-2 after another loss today. Hopefully they get Joe running the ball around 20 times a game again soon. This is a huge year for him if he wants to keep a chance at playing on Sundays.

Hunter Furr has been ignorred at North Carolina. We knew it would happen despite the fact that he is the fastest player on the whole team! He should transfer.

JJ Deluggi of Byu had a descent game last night rushing for 91 yards in a loss. Byu is in a rebuilding mode. I can't remember ever seeing the cougars be this bad in my life time. Very sad but hopefully they will be ready for next year.

The big game is coming up in around an hour. SMU vs Rice. It's time for the white running backs to shine. I hope McGuffie can finally have a breakout game. I'm working on finding a link to watch the game.

Air Force RB Jared Tew had a game high 17 carries for 111 yards. I too am looking forward to the Rice/Southern Methodist matchup. Hopefully I can find a live stream once the game starts.

I read that Zach Line had an illness this week and was questionable for the game. Hopefully Butler has a bad game because some fans were wanting him to get more carries, even after Line's game last week vs TCU.

Line missed two days of practice due to an undisclosed illness.
Jones said he would play, but won't let him start. So nevermind on the modern historical significance of this game.

That's ok, Riddlewire. Its best to be ready for games like these even if they don't go according to plan. I'm glad you mentioned it because I like watching Sam run anyway.

Yet he still couldn't get a mention by ESPN on the highlights. Plenty of coverage of black quarterback Jefferson, though. And those new Air Force helmets look stupid.

Sam has done much since that catch, his line is mediocre at best. 7 - 3 SMU so far.

Hopefully they can get Sam in the open so that he can create.
