I was looking at the heights and weights of players at this years combine and I saw something that I was sure was a misprint. There is a 5'7 149lb black wide receiver from Kansas State that was invited to the combine. I though there had to be something wrong with the number 149 so I checked the college website and sure enough that's the midgets actual weight. How in the world does a 149lb weakling get invited to the combine?

This is to add to Whiteathlete33's point.

There is a group of almost all whites who had they chosen sports instead of the military , would put the Affletes to shame. US Special Ops. The US rangers have to run something like 20 miles over broken wooded ground carrying a 70 lb ruck sack in a timed run. Or in 3 days they have cover 60 miles with 60 plus lbs on their backs over broken ground .

The required time to complete each run is secret, but how many men in the world could cover 60 miles or more in 3 days carrying 70 lbs over broken ground doing 10 miles a minute ?? This is also under conditions of being dehydrated, and injured due to the nature of the terrain they have to run on . It isn't a course with directions like is used for cross country competitions.

They have also be smart enough to use the directional finder to make sure they are headed in the right direction. If they aren't they just have added to the amount of running they have to do, and decreased the time to do it in. The Rangers and Navy Seals are almost all white. They are definitely world class athletes.

So looking at the site, Dennis Pitta is the 3rd fastest tight end, really the second, Dickerson who clocked in at 4.40, is 226 pounds, can't really see someone of that size as a tight end, Im sure there are plenty of White tight ends who could run that if they cut down their weight. BUT if you go to the NFL site, Pitta is not listed, it goes Dickerson 4.4, Jimmy Graham 4.56, Ed Dickson 4.67. I wonder why he is not listed. I guess they have to do extra work to confirm the time since he is White.

However, looking up his time, I see that they changed Austin Collie's time of 4.55 (which was there for several months after the combine) to 4.63. There are sites saying that Pitta ran a 4.63, just not NFL.comEdited by: dwid

Don't y'all know that bench press at the combine is like an IQ test or college entrance exam tests, culturally biased...

From the Detroit Free Press:

Michigan State wide receiver Blair White said he had received "mixed feedback" from NFL teams.

"I think one of the main things I've heard is that a lot of people think I'm just a possession receiver at the next level," White said. "It's tough trying to overcome that stereotype, because I think I'm better than that and I disagree. But I just have to go out there and let my performing do the talking for me."

White said he had been working hard on his speed. The receivers run Sunday. White said his goal would be to break 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

"You are probably thinking, 'Is this guy crazy right now?' " White said. "But that's fine. That's how I like it, and that's kind of how it's been my whole life, doing things people don't think I can do."

From his game tape he looks like he is a 4.4 guy. Ridiculous that a White receiver has to go sub 4.5 to be considered anything but a possession receiver. He was last timed at 4.52 though, hopefully he has gotten down, Im sure he has if his goal is to go break 4.4

I'll bet Gerhart would have put up around 25+ reps if he didn't drop ten pounds and do so much speed work. He still showed himself to be a beast. I can't wait to see him and all of the rest of our guys running tommorow! Good luck to all of them.

22 reps is respectable, as Toby's not a Fullback, but a Running/Tailback!

And 1/10th of a second would have no effect on a football field, only in a track meet would a tenth of a second matter. Running a 40 in shorts is the most overrated aspect of the combine IMO. They need to time players with pads on while having a ball in their hands or going out to catch a pass. The tapes don't lie if you can play, but a 40 time can as the Raiders found out in the 1st round last year...

It also would appear to be the only one that blacks have a slight advantage in on average. Whites hold their own and sometimes more on average ineverything else testedfrom what I've seen over the years, including the shorter distances and flexibility and quickness tests as ToughJRiggins and others have documented.

And Whiteshold a decided advantage in the Wonderlic test, and I'm sure also in the interview phase. I was admiring how polished and articulate Tony Pike was during a sequence on the NFL Network today where he was questioned and quizzed by Steve Mariucci and Jim Moron Jr. I couldn't help but compare that to the Senior Bowl broadcast on the same network the day before when the best affirmative action sideline reporter they could come up with was Corey Chavous, who seemsready to give Shannon Sharpe a run for his money as the most unintelligible announcer ever.

It is really amazing and quite frankly sad how so many morons out there believe blacks are stronger than whites. Whites monopolize the 225 pound bench press despite the fact that there are far more black participants in the event. There really is no comparison between black strength and white strength. Whites are substantially stronger than blacks. In addition there are scores of other strong white players like rylan reed last yearwho are not invited to the combine. Taking all these factors into account it would be accurate to say that thestrength levels between blacks and whites aren't even close. Whites are clearly stronger.

I noticed Petrus got mild praise from Jabba the Hut and got mild criticism from his White coaching co-broadcaster. But Campbell got mad love from everybody on the broadcast today. Jabba sounded like he was talking about a double order of Biggie Fries and a Wendy's Triple Burger.....

Cooper ran a 4.52 and 4.53. Good times for a 6'3 receiver but I really thought he would at least be in the 4.4 range the way he runs on film, though he would even go sub 4.4. He has been timed as low as 4.32 so I don't know what happened.

Gilyard who is ranked higher than better White receivers was supposed to time in at 4.35 comes in at 4.56 and 4.62 Edited by: dwid

I think 40 times in general are pretty sketchy. The times that guys get in practice are usually faster than what they run at the combine. Trindon Holiday, who is a track guy with a 100m best of 10.02, ran 4.34 and he said he could run 4.25 or better.
So, I think some of the times guys say they have run in practice are not as fast as what they will run at the combine.

The 40 times bandied about for a player are almost always faster than they really are. This includes the players this site roots for.

Yeah maybe the synthetic turf they are running on at the combine is not as fast as a regular track?? With Holliday & Gilyard running slower times...and LaFell too, only ran 4.6..it's the only reason why I'm not more disapointed in Cooper's time...because he's a legit 4.4 (4.35 hand timed)

At 6'-5" 243 QB-Skelton from Fordham is a specimen...

Gerhart had the 2nd most reps at RB...(not including Fullback Conner)

Why didn't McGaha run??Edited by: TwentyTwo

38 and 1/2 inch vertical for Tebow which puts him at the top of his group

That's sweet! Almost a 40" vert for Tebow. I wish his 40 time was a little better, but still solid.

Narc, good points about us Whites dominating bench press at the NFL combine. My 225# rep best was 34 (but I only attempt the max rep(s) a few times). However, I could have easily hit the mid 40s had I been jacked up on PEDs (like many an "afrolete").

Blair White ran 4.5 even the second time around
no clue why McGaha didn't run, he had a great vertical and broad jump, put up 19 bench press reps

Meier ran a 4.62, his teammate who is top ten on most peoples draft boards, considered to have elite speed, posted 4.6, and 9 reps in the bench pressEdited by: dwid
