Draftexpress has 4 white guys going in the first round. Thats 4 out of 30 which sucks. It would have been six but Jan Vesely and Kyle Singler withdrew their names from the draft.
Cole Aldrich and Donatas Motiejūnas look like they will be selected in the lottery.
Two guys who might make it into the first round are international prospects Miroslav Raduljica and Nemanja Bjelica.
Raduljica is a sure fire first round pick who i have watched extensively. The only reason he might not get selected in the first round is because he looks to have signed a contract with a euroleague team a la Rubio.

So of the 4 only 1 (1 out of 30) is a full fledged white American. It does get a little better with NBAdraft.net having 3 white Americans in the first round. Aldrich, Gordon Hayward, and Luke Babbitt. 3 out of 30 a whopping 10%. Only Aldrich is projected Lottery Pick. [IMG]

Luke Babbitt had a 37.5 vertical which was near the top. I do not ever recall anyone in the media hyping his athleticism his entire college career..Same vertical as Uconn's Stanley Robinson who the media deemed greatest leaper of all time every second of every broadcast. Haywood was near 35". Haywood looks like a top 5 pick to me see article in SI.

Nice video of Babbitt. He has amazing range for a big man and very nice hops to go with it. Good luck to him in the draft.

Hey guys. You might want to check out the new Sports Illustrated. They have a good article on Gordon Hayword from Butler. They predict his should be drafted between the 5th to 15th pick of the first round. This kid is going to be an All Star in a few years. Edited by: white lightning

For fun I took a look at some of the numbers for 4 of the top forwards in the draft. They are listed from 6-7" to 6-9".

bodyfat Nostep vertmax vertBench 3/4 ct.sprint

    Player 1 6.9 30.5 34.5103.22 11.73
    Player 2 5.3 28.5 33.5173.25 11.14
    Player 3 8.6 27.5 34.5 93.27 11.06
    Player 4 5.6 29.5 37.5153.410.98

I tried to edit this and I'm having trouble with the columns. The last column is lane agility and the next to last is 3/4 court sprint.

Now, care to guess which two are white and labeled as "unathletic" just from the numbers? Player 1 has the best no step vertical, tied for best max vertical and fastest 3/4 court sprint. Player 3 has the highest bodyfat, lowest bench and fastest lane agility drill. Player 2 has the highest bench press and is 2nd on several other things. Player 4 has the best lateral quickness.

Player 1 is Gordon Hayward. Player 2 is Patrick Patterson. Player 3 is Evan Turner. Player 4 is Luke Babbitt

You NEVER hear "unathletic" mentioned with Patterson or Turner. The worst I've heard is "average" mentioned with reference to Turner's athleticism. From Draftexpress regarding Babbitt: "in spite of his limited athletic ability" yet he's a better jumper than Patterson and Turner, has better lateral quickness and is almost as strong as Patterson in the upper body despite being outweighed by 22 pounds. Also, Turner and Patterson are both 21 years old while Babbitt and Hayward are 20. A year's maturity makes a difference, especially given that whites seem to mature later than blacks. I'd like to see what Hayward and Babbitt's numbers look like after another year with a good strength coach.

We won't even consider that Babbitt shot 89% from the free throw line and 41% from three point range................. Or that Hayward handles the ball like a guard and often brought the ball up the court for Butler. Those things must be considered as skills by the pundits and not figured in as "athletic ability".

Just looking at the numbers, you would think Player 4 was the most athletic. Draftexpress must just be looking at pictures.

I agree. I haven't had a chance to see Babbitt. I live in KY and have seen plenty of Wall, Patterson, etc. Funny, but Wall's max vertical is only 1.5 inches more than Babbitt yet Babbitt is "unathletic". I'm not sure what a white guy would have to post to be considered "athletic" or if it's even possible these days.

I found this site with all of the numbers in one location: http://www.nbadraft.net/nba-draft-combine-athleticism-test-results

I hate the NBA. I haven't watched a full game in more than 15 years. I can get into college basketball when there are some white players on the floor, but the NBA flat-out sucks.

All of a sudden Luke Babbitt is expected to be a lottery pick. I'm guessing the fact that he tested out well athletically is really helping his case.

Alexey Shved from Russia looks to be an interesting prospect. He has very nice size at 6'6 for the shooting guard position and is very athletic. He's even compared to Penny Hardaway!http://www.nbadraft.net/players/alexey-shved

Babbitt had the 2nd highest vertical of the guys tested from one article I read. He is a big man with some serious hops!

Hopefully Hayward goes a bit higher. With Hawes being traded, the Kings have become a possibility. Also, I hope he does notgo to Boston. Doc Rivers seems to have a lot of control overGM Danny Ainge and my guess is he'll push hard against Hayward.

Some mocks have only three whites going in the first round: Hayward, Aldrich, and Babbitt. That's a whopping 10%. Every year we see the number of white Americans players drafted get smaller. Where is the next Keith Van Horn when we need him???

there's some good information in this thread. good work, gentlemen. [IMG]hopefully, this post won't ruin that. heh.

watching the early edition of Sportscenter before the USA-Algeria soccer match, i noticed that the ESPN negrophiles had an entire 5-minute section devoted to the "incredible" John Wall. the focus of their "reporting" was how "breathtakingly" fast Wall is. they even had some sort of "scientific" labratory-like room set up to "prove" how "superhuman" his speedis.

in addition to the words quoted above, to describe his speed they used such additional understated adjectives such as "amazing," "phenomenal," jaw-dropping," unbelievable," and if i'm not mistaken, "mythic."

so, would it surprise anyone here that Wall wasn't even the fastest player to perform at the Chicago pre-Draft combine? [IMG]

by the way, that list doesn't even include any of the foreign-born players, none of which participated in the running or agility drills.

oh, the fastest player who ran was Trevor Booker, a 6-6 "power forward" from Clemson. i will be expecting his ESPN feature shortly by those "expert reporters"on Sportscenter... [IMG]

There are only 5 whites in the 1st and 2nd round mock drafts altogether. The other two are Brian Zoubek and Jon Scheyer. Why is Luke Harangody not included?

Harangody may not the best athlete around, but he make's up for in hustle and craftiness. The guy had a great career in Notre Dame, and has got game to excel in the NBA as a solid 6th man.

Luke Babbitt sounds great. Great shooter with great athleticism and good size.
He could be the best player out of this draft.
I don't think that John Wall and Evan Turner are that good. Demarcus Cousins is good but he is a head case. Favors, Monroe, and Ed Davis don't impress me much.
I hope Babbitt goes into a great situation. He sounds like he can become a Larry Bird like player.

Cousins is nothing more than another obese afflete with limited potential. He's 300lbs. Give me a break.

I saw that Sportscenter piece on Wall...that was so cheesy ridiculous with the fake scientist. I knew some CFers were probably cringing over the negro worship.

My local paper gave some hype to Keith Van Horn back in 1997 when he went to the Nets. His athleticism was mentioned many times. He was a star but never a superstar. Gugliotta was the better player in my opinion.
