The media continues to pile onChase Coffman. One of the best receiving tight endsin college football historyand a third round draft pick just last season, Coffman had an injury-marred rookie season and has already been written off by DWF Nation, which is madly in love with Jermaine Gresham, who was injury prone in college but is a "wonderful athlete." Shows again how quickly White players are written off while love affairs with black players continue for many years even when they "underachieve."

Coach Marvin Lewis confirmed Monday that newly signed rookie Jermaine Gresham is the top tight end on the Bengals' depth chart. It's not like his competition is stiff, but the Bengals appear to be counting on Gresham as an every-down player. Blocking TE Reggie Kelly still figures to play plenty on running downs. Chase Coffman may not make the roster.

Yep, Gresham misses his whole Senior season, but still gets drafted in the 1st round.

Coffman has a great Senior season and wins the Mackey award, but "falls" to the 3rd round. That's the Caste System in a nutshell.

I hope Coffman gets out of Cinci. Another team just might give him a chance.

I hope it works out for Coffman...white players do seem to get written off quicker...let the dwf's be disapointed!

I'll also be keeping an eye on Tom Nelson...he's a versatile DB that hits like a safety and covers like a CB! At 5'-11" 201 and legit 4.4 speed. Looking at recent message board; there is a "love-hate" relationship with Bengal fans...some feel like I do...but others give him the Steltz treatment; it could be the brutha's fault but if he's anywhere nearby it's his fault of course. He can also be a threat as a punt/kick returner!

LT Andrew Whitworth 6'7" 330 is a "stud"!

Could Brian Leonard be the leading reciever out of the backfield??

Of course we are all watching the WR situation!

Skimming the Bengal training-camp "80" player roster I counted...(taking a page from College Football thread)
    21-white
    55-black
    4-polynesian

On defense it's a staggering 2-white 31-black 3-poly....DB-Tom Nelson & LB-Dan Skuta are the only whites...IN TRAINING CAMP! Nelson has is work cut out for him buried deep on the depth chart; but he can make the final 53 man roster IMO! Skuta is impressive at 6'-2" 251 probablydestined for special teams for now....

    Offense is 15-24-1....O-Line is 6-white 8-black

Nice article on Chase Coffman...don't count him out yet; he's healthy now!
    http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/Knocking-Back-Hard/7811f049-561c-458d-9ce1-e30010f4fdd9

6'-9" 320 Dennis Roland is as tall as anybody in the league..currently listed 1st team LTahead of ex-1st rounder Andre Smith 6'-4" 345+...Roland and RT 6'-7" 335 Andrew Whitworth is a bad azz!

Would like to count more of the 80 man rosters around the league...who has the whitest & blackest training camp rosters for curiosity's sake.

    From Walterfootball:

    Jermaine Gresham, TE, Bengals [IMG]

Jason Cole (Yahoo! Sports) noted that Jermaine Gresham looks "lost" in
training camp. The signing of Terrell Owens was already a bad enough hit
    to Gresham's 2010 fantasy prospects.

Might be good news for Chase Coffman.

This should help Matt Jones make the roster.

The Bengals threw away $60 million in back to back seasons on black losers at WR (not all of it guaranteed of course). They signed Matt Jones for the veterans minimum, but will they continue their stupidity and waive him in favor of a black scrub with a small fraction of his talent?

Bengals released WR Antonio Bryant. Undrafted rookie C Mike Windt was also let go. Bryant is released on the same day as Laveranues Coles was by the Jets, making some history. They were massive, $30 million free agent busts for Cincinnati and ended up being released in back-to-back years. At least Coles played a down for the Bengals. Bryant never did, but will collect a $3.6 million signing bonus, $3.1 million roster bonus (paid in March), and a $250,000 offseason workout bonus. The Bengals will open the season with Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco, and Jordan Shipley as their top three receivers.

It comes down to whether the Bengals keep Matt Jones, Dezmon Briscoe or Quan Cosby as their 6th WR. IMO Jones surely has the most potential to help the Bengals in the near future and could be Owens' replacement as an outside receiver (next year or in two years). Matt Jones= better than Briscoe as an outside WR, Jordan Shipley= better than Caldwell and Quan Cosby as a Flanker, but more likely these guys are slot prospects with Cinci. I actually think the Bengals will keep Jones, but might pull a surprise and do something like cut Brian Leonard (who is injured I believe) to "balance" things out.

They definitely don't need Quan Cosby. He's not big or fast. He didn't look good returning punts and kicks. He's the same age as Matt Jones, and only has 7 career catches. He is black, though.

Plus the Bengals already have enough slot prospects, who could play Flanker if need be, in Shipley and Caldwell- and Jerome Simpson has potential at all 3 WR spots if need be. I think most teams have two slot prospects in the current NFL, but a few teams still have only one. How many teams have 3 (4?) guys who are mostly considered slot prospects?

The Bengals will cut Matt Jones. There is no question about that. He'll have a hard time sticking anywhere.

Just look at what happened to him last year. No team would give him an opportunity. Compare that treatment to Pacman Jones who seems to get arrested every month and is give chance after chance. It's no surprise the Cincinnati Criminals are the team that picked Jones up.

How should we do this, exactly? Have a march on Washington with Glenn Beck leading the charge?[IMG]

Castefootball looks at the 2010 Cincinnati Bengals

The latest version of the Bengals looks to be very poor in terms of white starters. A total of 5 whites look to be starters on this team and all of them on offense.

Carson Palmer is the starting quarterback. Palmer was drafted in 2003 and was a top 5 qb for his first few seasons in the league. Carson made the Pro Bowl in 2005 and 2006. He has taken a step backwards in the past few seasons and now has probably dropped out of the top 10 qb's in the league. Injuries have obviously taken a toll on his body but he still has some good seasons in front of him. Hopefully he can still make a Pro Bowl or two before his career is over. Dan Skuta out of Grand Valley state looks to be the fullback. He went undrafted in 2009 out of Grand Valley State and now looks to play the dreaded position of battering ram. Kyle Cook is the starting center and this will be his second full season as a full time starter. Dennis Roland starts at right tackle and Andrew Whitworth starts at left tackle. Jordan Shipley is another very interesting player. Although he's not a starter he will see lots of playing time in his rookie season. He's a very talented slot receiver who could easily have 1,000 yards receiving if he was a full time starter. Shipley impressed in the first regular season game with 5 receptions for 82 yards.

That about sums up the Bengals. There are no white starters on defense and the only white backup listed is Dan Skuta who would be moved back to linebacker in case of injuries.

    Grade D-
    White starters 5

I thought it was funny when Ochocinco and T.O. bailed on their teams and went to the lockerroom early.

Those two should stay in the locker room and let a real reciever like shipley catch all the passes.

Rotoworld always finds a way to attack a great white player.

Jordan Shipley was on the field for 58 of the Bengals' 76 snaps in Week 1.

This number is a little bloated because the Bengals were playing
catch-up and went no-huddle for much of the second half. In a normal
situation, we don't expect to see as many three-wide looks. Also, 51 of
Shipley's 82 yards came on a Hail Mary at the end of the first half.
Re-draft owners shouldn't see him as much more than a low-upside
    possession receiver right now.

The Bengals slap Chase Coffman in the face by signing Paul Foschi to the active roster while Coffman remains on the practice squad.

Wow a new phrase has emerged
I have heard of "upside" and seen it used so much it has become irritating - and now we have "low-upside". First time I have seen that.

The Bengals draft Coffman in the 3rd round of the 2009 draft, never play him, and then draft a supposedly more affletic tight end in Jermaine Gresham. Looks like he's dealing with the Mike Hass treatment for now.

The Bengals dropped to 2-5 today.

The signings of TO and PacMan to go along with OchoCinco did the expected-the team is back to its inept, me, me, me, ways.

Marvin Lewis will probably keep his quota job, though.
