Arkansas' Rotnei Clarke once again carried the Razorbacks to a victory, this time against the Oil Spill of Alabama (they are certainly too black to be the 'Crimson' Tide). Clarkehit the decisive go-ahead bucketwith less than a minute left in the game, beating his man off the dribble and getting into the lane before hitting a beautiful pull-up floater in the eye of Bama's big man.

Clarke, the Razorbacks' best player,is the only White starter for head coach John Pelphrey, and one of only two White players on scholarship. i find it especially disturbing that Pelphrey, who won so many games with Kentucky asone of the four"Unforgettables" (three of whom were White players: Pelphrey, Richie Farmer, and Deron Feldhaus), would not now, as a head coach, offer a scholarship toany of these Kentucky basketball legends ... not even himself.

i have even pointed out his racially-biased talent evaluationsagainst White players to him in a face-to-face dialogue. needless to say, he doesn't seem to think my factual observations are relevant ... so he continues recruiting (almost exclusively) black affletes and eschewing more talented White ball players.not coincidentally, his teams continue to suck something fierce.

Did anyone watch yesterday's USC/Oregon game?.. Several absolutely TINY blacks running around on the court and mucking things up with turnovers and terrible "passing"... wow...

If USCs affletes had fed Vucevic early-and-often around the basket, thus creating rhythm and purpose, USC would have won.

Instead, what happened is, Vucevic came on strong in the latter part of the game with quick-passes (to his open "teammates") and some sweet offensive put-backs, but, by then, it was a little too late for USC.

P.S. -- It looked like Vucevic had longer arms than some of the bruthas whole bodies!!
smiley36.gif

Only watched a little of the game -- Oregon court too distracting! Don't know how he played this game, but one of USC's really tiny black players is Maurice Jones, a freshman from Saginaw who I've watched since he was in jr. high. He's actually really good, but has been playing 40 minutes a night since November and is bound to hit the wall. I respect the kid because of the odds being that short, and does it without being a total jacker like Tajuan Porter was at Oregon. He's a tough little bastard.

Jones' played kind of "wild" -- and BOTH teams' bruthas looked largely unimpressive.

For example, Oregon built a good lead and then their bruthas were throwing some really awful passes that went for turnovers. If anyone thinks that ALL blacks are "elite" at basketball, then they are really blind!

Remember the St Mary's Gaels from last year? Well, they look to be back in the Big Dance this year. They are 16-2 and their only losses are to Top 20 teams BYU and San Diego State. Two big name teams they've beaten are St. Johns and Mississpi State. For the most part, they've been destroying their conference foes.

From what I can see, they play 5 whites out of 10 in their regular rotation, starting three of them, Mickey McConnell, Matthew Dellavedova, and Clint Steindl all start, with Mitchell Young, and (sometimes) Phil Benson coming off the bench.

Sharpshooter Mickey McConnell still leads the Gaels, averaging 15 ppg leading the Gaels in scoring average.

Matthew Dellavedova is the third leading scorer with 13 ppg.

Mitchell Young comes off the bench to score 13 PPG as well.

This team has the look of one that can make another Tourney run this year.

Perry Jones, of Baylor, looks anorexic... Bob Knight said that, right now, he wouldn't select Jones' in the 1st round of the NBA Draft!!

He also said that Jones' needs to get tougher/more physical and grab more rebounds. I want to know.. "where are all the black basketball Gods?"

Newcomers' Jared Sullinger (Ohio State) and Terrance Jones (Kentucky) have been good, but their numbers have gone down since the schedules have gotten tougher (which tends to be expected; I'm NOT knocking these athletes, believe me).

I will call John Henson "solid" -- but, if he leaves NC after this, his Sophomore year, he will HAVE NOT reached "basketball God" status!

JaJuan Johnson, of Purdue, is a STUD and that has been evident ever since he was a frosh. I have never once said anything negative about him because it was always clear that he was LEGIT. Nice jumpshot, soft hands and an excellent shot-blocker.

I'm not enamored with the Morris twins at Kansas (that's just my view), and here's my point, they're not the type that's going to "save the NBA." I'm not hatin'.. simply put, the talking-heads make watching a Kansas game UNWATCHABLE! Some folks must know what I'm talking about..

The Morris' look too laid-back to me, and I think their jump-shots are ugly to watch.

Illinois big, Mike Davis, has very long arms -- but I would describe him as awkward, inconsistent and lacking in passion. He returned to Illinois because even the "black supremacist scouts" were saying he looked lost. In Mike Davis, we are probably not looking at the next Al Horford...

There's that freaky-looking mixed dude, with dreads, on Pitt (McGhee) and Alex Oriahki of UCONN, both appear solid. Some people will bring-up Mbakwe of Minnesota. And there's a guy, here and there, on a Syracuse and Arizona that have been solid.

Texas appears to have found a couple of quality bigs.. Florida State has a couple of solid bigs.. Overall, though, I do not see tons and tons of ebony titans.... I do not see tons of Andrew Bynums and DeAndre Jordans..... (Note: This post was a breakdown of only forwards and centers).

Alabama beat Kentucky (it's now) yesterday, and this was ONLY Jamychal Green's "4th" double-double of the season.. that's pretty much the norm, many black bigs that aren't racking-up more numbers than many Whites' could if only they were full-time players....

Northwestern's - Luka Mirkovic - had 13 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists in their win over Michigan.

He's averaging 8.6 PPG and 6.4 RPG, while playing 25 MPG. He has steadily gotten better.

Kyle Kuric had 20 points in a win over St. Johns for the Cardinals last night. Stephan Van Treese started for the Cardinals, with guards Kuric and Elisha Justice getting good minutes off the bench. Mike Marra must be hurt, as he hasn't play in the last couple games. Tim Henderson also got a few minutes off the bench.

Santa Clara smacked Gone-zaga (or maybe I should say Gone-zulu?)...

Too bad, though, that Portland lost at San Francisco. In other news, Florida defeated Auburn by a score of 45-40.. WGAs for sure...

Northwestern beats SIU-Edwardsville, 98-55.

Mirkovic knocks in 15 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks.

Shurna skipped the game to rest his sprained ankle.

I think Gonzaga will get back to playing white men after this year. four of Gonzaga's next six recruits over the next two years are white. The years I looked at are 2010-2011.

Well, Butler got back to it's winning ways in the Horizon League last night, defeating Green Bay 81-75. Matt Howard put up 29 points and 16 rebounds in the Bulldog's win.

Butler will need to step it up if they want to make it back to the NCAA Tourney, with Valpo giving them a serious challenge this year.

Deadlift,

I agree. Perry Jones is too skinny and not dominant enough. Lots of fans fear
that he might turn out to be another Anthony Randolph, a player who has talent but not a
position, length but not heart.

Sullinger looks solid but he is no Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, and maybe not even a Dejuan Blair.
He could go anywhere from 1 to 10. I think Perry Jones is a top 5 or 6 pick. Might not be worthy of the top pick but I don't think anyone is.

The Morris twins are solid. They are value picks in the late first/early second round. If Ed Davis and Greg Monroe could go high in the draft then one of them might get picked in the lottery.

Kyle Singler looks good. He would be a great addition to a solid young core. He would be a good starting small forward on the Clippers. He could spread the floor and be a great third or fourth option. I could also see him being the go-to guy down the stretch and the guy taking the last shot. With Singler that team should feed the big men early (Griffin, Jordan, Kaman), let Baron Davis get his, and allow Eric Gordon to pick his spots and get easy fast break shots. Let Singler hit threes, play the two man game with Blake Griffin (pick and roll, pick and pop, high-low), then give Singler room to operate at the end of games. Damn, I hope Singler goes to the Clippers!

As far as guards go, Kemba Walker would make a very good combo guard. If your team gets him outside the top ten then you have done well.

Jimmer Fredette should be a top pick. His scoring instincts, stocky size, strength, and deep range remind me somewhat of DaJuan Wagner, who was one of the best high school scorers EVER, a number 7 pick by the Cavs, but who suffered kidney disease and had to basically cut his career short. I have seen Fredette compared to Mark Price and I can see that. He would be good on the T Wolves.

one of my favorite players was superb tonight. Florida's point-forward Chandler Parsons dominated Arkansas tonight despite only scoring 5 points. when he left the <STRIKE>game</STRIKE> blowout for good, Parsons had 15 rebounds. to put that in perspective, Arkansas' entire starting five had a combined 17 boards. to supplement his supremacy on the glass, Parsons alsotook a rest with agame-high 5 assists ... with only 1 turnover.

at 6-foot-10, Chandler Parsons also was assigned to guard Arkansas' quickest ball handler tonight. not too bad, says i. i just wish he'd look for his shot more ... although he did have a nasty two-handed dunk-and-1 on a couple of Arkansas affletes.
smiley4.gif

conversely, it was a night to forget for Arkansas' Rotnei Clarke. the best player on the Razorbacks roster (who actually entered the game leading Arkansas in rebounding in SEC play ... at just 6-feet tall) managed only 3 field goal attempts, due to a combination of Florida's defense and (more so due to) his teammate's freezing him out of the offense. not surprisingly, with the deadly scorer being held scoreless, Arkansas went down in flames ...losing by 32. ouch.

Kyle Singler had 24 points and 7 rebounds, with Ryan Kelly exploding for 20 points of his own and 6 rebounds as Duke chased Wake Forest off it's own floor today. It was nice to see Kelly do so good today. Hopefully, he can start developing into another weapon for the Blue Devils.

In a tight win over Marquette, Notre Dame's Ben Hansbrough dropped 28 points on the Golden Eagles tonight in a 80-75 victory.

On a side note, St. Mary's went to Vanderbilt today and got stopped by the Commodores, 89-70.

Louisville lost to Providence today, but it appears that Stephan Van Treese is starting for good now, and is becoming a bigger part of the game plan, with 10 points in the loss. Kyle Kuric, Elisha Justice, and Mike Marra all recieved double-digit minutes off the bench for the Cardinals as well. Louisville has become somewhat a team to cheer for with 1 white starter, and three white guards that get good minutes off the bench.

Awwww, Gonzaga lost again, this time in OT to the San Francisco Dons.

Maybe it would help if they started playing some more white men, you know, those guys that got them to a mid-major power.Edited by: Jack Lambert

A White-friendly Virginia team defeated Georgia Tech.

Tech's lone White player, Daniel Miller, had 12 points and 6 rebounds. He has a good frame.

It was a solid Saturday for our athletes, if I may say so! Ryan Kelly's phenomenal shooting reminds me of Larry Bird!

"Tech's lone White player, Daniel Miller, had 12 points and 6 rebounds. He has a good frame."

My bad.. I forgot about long-and-lean frosh, Nate Hicks, who got 9 minutes for Tech. This player hadn't been on my radar, so I did some quick research.. Some info about Hicks:

http://georgiatech.scout.com/2/983962.html

Hicks talked about the events leading up to that and his whirlwind life of late. "I originally signed with Tulane but after the coaching change I decided to see if I could change schools."Â￾ Hick petitioned the NCAA, was denied, appealed again and was granted his release. "Within a few days I signed with Georgia Tech."Â￾ Hicks picked Tech over Florida State.

There was a combination of things that led Hicks to choose Georgia Tech. "I saw how well the players were treated on campus by the students and I got to meet most of them,"Â￾ said Hicks. "I saw the facilities and had dinner at Coach Hewitt's house and felt like I was getting treated like royalty."Â￾ Hicks also knew that Derrick Favors and Gani Lawal were leaving early and that there was a need for some additional help in the front court."

Redshirt frosh, Daniel Miller, is averaging 1.9 BPG, and Nate Hicks is averaging 0.9 BPG, in limited minutes.

I really hope that the coaches "develop" Hicks, and that he doesn't get "backstabbed" in favor of a "new super-afflete." As for why GA Tech isn't very good.. it's because the affletes play selfishly.

Notre Dame knocked off #2-ranked Pitt AT Pitt tonight, led by Ben Hansbrough. Tyler's little brother played a fearless game, leading the Irish with 19 points and 7 assists. it was a tough contest, and no one was tougher tonight than Hansbrough.

strangely, Tim Abromaitis didn't take a single shot from the floor despite playing 29 minutes, but his efforts defensively were a huge part of the win.

congratulations to the Fighting Irish for fighting so hard and pulling off the upset on the road.

Jimmy Chitwood,

Damn... I gotta catch the re-run of that game again! Didn't look good for Notre Dame in the first half, but I'm mighty surprised and relived they won. Notre Dame looks much whiter than I'd expect, they often play 4 white players on the floor. Anyway, great win over coal black Pittsburgh, despite Abromaitis' of night (just 2 points). Nice efforts by Hansbrough (19 points), and Scott Martin (10 points), along with Carlton Scott's (black) 16 points.

Long story on Ohio State freshman Aaron Craft. Funny take from Jared Sullinger, talking about how in AAU every one would always assume the white kid was the designated shooter.

A young craftsman at the point: Ohio State's Aaron Craft a vital cog of undefeated Buckeyes as a freshman
Published: Tuesday, January 18, 2011, 10:33 PMUpdated: Tuesday, January 18, 2011, 11:35 PM
By Doug Lesmerises, The Plain Dealer

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The question made a bit of sense in the off-season but sounds so silly now, like asking which type of nut Ohio State should choose as a mascot.

The Buckeyes were losing their leading scorer and primary ball-handler in national player of the year Evan Turner. So, who was going to play point guard for Ohio State?

Freshman Aaron Craft has answered that question so completely, 18 games into the season, it's difficult to imagine the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes without him, as strange as if the big-headed guy clapping with the cheerleaders was Brutus Pistachio.

It's something even the OSU coaching staff contemplated Sunday, one day after Craft played his best game as a collegian, scoring 19 points while locking onto Penn State star Talor Battle.

"If we didn't have Aaron Craft, what a different basketball team we would be," coach Thad Matta said Tuesday. "We'd be playing a completely different way."

Craft is averaging 9.6 points and 5.2 assists in Big Ten play going into Wednesday night's game with Iowa. Integrating him into the rotation (he has started just once, usually entering the game after four minutes) to run the offense and clamp down on defense has been the easy part.

Matta said the veteran OSU players told him over the summer "you're going to have a hard time keeping that kid off the court."

Despite arriving at Columbus considered little more than an afterthought among Ohio State freshmen not named Jared Sullinger, point guard Aaron Craft has quickly carved out an essential role with the undefeated Buckeyes.
Matta has always felt former point guard Mike Conley was his little secret to some extent, that he saw something when most others thought of Conley as Greg Oden's sidekick four years ago. So Matta loved that during summer pickup games, when former Buckeyes return to Columbus, Conley liked Craft's game because "Aaron started guarding him when he pulled into the parking lot." In Matta's mind, there's not much higher point guard praise than Conley's.

Craft won't he jetting off after his freshman season to be the No. 4 pick in the NBA Draft, as Conley did. At 6-2 and 195 pounds, he doesn't have Conley's lightning quickness and ability to get in the lane at will -- though after a summer of constant shooting, he's more of a 3-point threat and is a better on-ball defender.

Yet early on, even the Buckeyes weren't in on this secret. The hard part about turning Craft into a freshman necessity was getting him to Columbus in the first place.

Matta has often told the story of his other freshman star, national player of the year candidate Jared Sullinger, and how former Buckeye J.J. Sullinger first recommended his younger brother when Jared was in junior high. Sullinger was a Buckeye all the way, and Matta and the Ohio State staff saw him play all the time -- catching Craft, Sullinger's AAU teammate on All-Ohio Red, at the same time.

Yet when Craft wanted to make an early recruiting decision and picked Tennessee as a high-school junior in September 2008, he did it without an Ohio State offer.

Jared Sullinger said Matta talked about wanting to add players to the class, not big-name players, but "solid basketball players."

"I kept telling him about Aaron," Sullinger said. "I was like, 'Coach, get Aaron, you've got to get Aaron.'"

With a young point guard in Anthony Crater on the roster, the Buckeyes' priorities were elsewhere. Then Crater transferred in December, 2008. Sullinger and Jordan Sibert, another OSU commit on All-Ohio Red, whispered in Craft's ear. Tennessee hosted Craft on an unofficial visit that would eventually land Volunteers coach Bruce Pearl in hot water with the NCAA for improperly hosting players at his home and then lying about it.

In April 2009, Akron assistant coach Jeff Boals, who had gotten to know Craft, was hired at Ohio State. A month later, Craft rescinded his oral commitment to Tennessee, and lots of schools started calling.

Craft's father, John, said Tuesday that the family was initially unsure about the Buckeyes' interest.

"Coach Matta probably watched me more than anyone else, but with them not recruiting me, I pretty much put it aside and said I wasn't going to go there," Aaron told BuckeyeGrove.com in 2009 after his Tennessee change of heart.

But underestimating Craft was nothing new. Sullinger said Tuesday he's seen it for four years.

"He played on a team full of black guys, and you know how there's one guy [opponents] classify as a shooter, so every time Aaron got into the game, it was like, 'Watch the shooter,'" Sullinger said with a laugh. "And the next thing you know, he blows by you.

"He's always been the underdog, and he always embraced it."

About two weeks after dropping Tennessee, Craft embraced the Buckeyes. Seniors David Lighty, Jon Diebler and Dallas Lauderdale and junior William Buford have been around forever. Columbus native Sullinger was practically born a Buckeye. But now the near-Volunteer is as draped in scarlet and gray as any of them.

John Craft said his son's only goal when he reached Ohio State in June was to gain the respect of the older players. He's handling the transition as he did in high school, when Craft started for the football team as a freshman quarterback, but turned down a chance to ride the varsity bus. Instead, he'd stay back and pick up the locker room with the rest of the freshmen, then ride with the J.V.

"And he'd be the first one to clean up," Tim Nichols, his football coach at Liberty-Benton High School, said Tuesday. "He thought that's what freshmen were supposed to do. It was refreshing."

It's why ESPN senior recruiting analyst Dave Telep calls Craft a "unifying" player. He believes Craft was overshadowed as a recruit only because there was a group of point guards in the Class of 2010 viewed as sexier prospects, what Telep called attention-seekers and program-changers. But Telep said there are few players in the last few years he respects more as "a completely selfless player."

"If you have Jared Sullinger, you're going to win 80 percent of your games," Telep said. "Mix in Aaron Craft, and you go to 90 percent."

It's a good thing then that the Buckeyes got both.

"Luckily, my buddy came here to Ohio State," Sullinger said. "He's the key to our engine. ... A player like Aaron Craft, it was the best pickup we got."

for anyone who thinks the SEC is the almighty of everything ... if the SEC West (division) were a conference/league of its own, its RPI would rank it LOWER than the Ivy League.

aren't those "phenomenal" affletes just the greatest basketball players ever?!?!

i wanted to make a quick addition to further detail the woeful state of affleticism and "phenomenal"ness in the SEC West ... last night against Arkansas, the horrid Auburn Tigers began the second half with an impressive shooting performance: they managed to MISS THEIR FIRST 22 SHOTS IN A ROW. wow. that takes some INCREDIBLE talent, to be sure. and when you consider that many of the bricks they were chunking were point-blank attempts against a poor-defending Razorback team, it makes the number all the more embarassing.

missing 22 shots in a row is a feat that has to be some kind of record. but hey, at least their smiles lit up the arena ...unlike their jumpshots.

What a joke these "affletes" have become!
