    NCAA volleyball

Had fun watching tall, athletic, high-flying white(!) guys last week in the volleyball final four. UC-Irvine defeated IPFW in the final. Some of those guys can really get up. Surprisingly, I found it enjoyable even though there wasn't a hip-hop soundtrack to the event and there weren't any...

    David Gillick

More white success in the 400. Gillick sets a new Irish indoor record(45.91) and Bastian Swillims runs the fastest 400 indoors by a German in 16 years to take second. http://www.iaaf.org/news/Kind=2/newsId=37512.html

    New Monday Night Football Crew

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02 /08/AR2006020800590.html Comments on the Tirico, Theisman and Kornheiser line-up? Almost forgot, the indispensable Michelle Tafoya and Suzy Kolber will be on hand as well. My comment is ugh.

    Drew Morano

Looks like Morano might be recovering from last years bad hammy. Won the 200 and 400 at the Nebraska Triangular last week. Went 21.61 and 48.63.

    Puerta Suspension

Yikes! Do not test positive for anything in tennis. Just judging from the article the 8 years seems a bit harsh but there could be more to it. Makes the namby-pamby dancing the other major sports do around the drug issue even more embarrassing...

    We Gangsta

Insight tempered with sportsmanship from Vince Young. The second-ranked Longhorns were asked Monday if top-ranked USC brings an intimidation factor. "Intimidated by what?," UT quarterback Vince Young said. "We have guys on this team who are gangsta. You see their guys (talking trash) to...

    Nick Frank

Did any of you see Stanford v. UCLA? Frank is a fullback converted from nose tackle. He only had 20 carries coming into the game but against the Bruins went 13 for 61. He seemed a bit awkward at times but was very effective. If they used him more often he would be quite a weapon. Needless...

    Andrew Rock

Rock ran 44.75 as runner-up to LaShawn Merritt's 44.66 in Kingston. This bodes well for the rest of the season.
