    2011 Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The reason Martinek was moved this year was to accommodate the #1 ranked player in NJ and #6 rb in the country. Rutgers was never able to land kids from St Peters Prep and if they didn't roll out the red carpet for this kid, they'd never get one again. It will be sad though if the SPP kid...

Proving them wrong is the best way to change the way things are. I just don't think HOPING for a better situation in a FCS school will give him the opportunity to do this.

    Joe Martinek

Nowhere did I say he doesn't have the ability. My point was that maybe he can make the best out of a sh*tty situation by dominating in the role he's being forced to play. Bailing out and transferring to a FCS school that gets less exposure then Rutgers is just not the answer. Making the most of...

I agree Joe isn't a prototypical powerback or big enough as an NFL FB, but with the new OC from Pitt, the FB is used more as a receiver and gets occasional touches. If scouts see his earlier film and see he can block and catch in this role, he may have a shot if he gets in the 220 range. Teams...

Just heard the inevitable, JM was moved to FB. Playing injured last season probably didn't help his cause. True freshmen from SPP will take over at RB. Joe is more of a powerback anyway, so hopefully this won't kill his chances to play on Sundays.

    2010 White Running Backs

JM has been injured since week 2. High ankle sprain, but has played all but 1 game. OL is one of the worst in the country. Even with Joe hurt, they didn't replace him, choosing to go wildcat to add the extra blocker. Although his stats are disappointing, he's showed he's a pretty tough guy...

    robbie frey

Bad news for Frey: Frey had his knee scoped on Monday and will be out two to three weeks, according to head coach Randy Edsall. He has rushed for 269 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 6.9 yards per carry as Jordan Todman's backup. Without Frey, the Huskies will likely turn to Martin...

Martinek was 20 for 109 5.4 avg against Norfolk State last night. Game wasn't televised but radio said OL wasn't good and could be a long season for RU backs. NFLDraftscout moved him down to #46 a couple weeks ago.

I'm not sure a guy like Martinek gets his NFL shot. I think Rutgers would have to improve immensely for that to happen. Although, he is relatively young, he could still make a name for himself on the national scene.
