Nascar officials have been quoted as saying they will not stop looking for the tiger woods of nascar. I cant believe now they are giving blacks a free ride into the sport. Instead of making them earn rides and sponsorships they have set up driving schools just for blacks and placing them in lower nascar series (modifieds, trucks) they have even gotten majic johnson involved to promote the sport. Blacks will never pay the money to go watch the sport of auto racing but someday they will get a black driver probably let him bend the rules (traction control) and sell his merchindise like crazy every little monkey and wantabee will walk around with his hat and jacket. here are a couple of links

"DRIVING WHILE BLACK"

(May 24, 2004) NASCAR has a problem. It is tremendously popular, it's making loads of money and is one of the most watched sports/entertainment activities in the nation. So what's the problem? Not enough diversity of course! Whenever things are going well without some significant number of minority involvement the media and the race police complain about discrimination.

NASCAR which has always been pretty savvy about its product appears to be buckling under the pressure. They have announced a program to diversify the drivers and pit workers at NASCAR racers. Never does it occur to the race police that it is patently absurd to force people into areas where they don't want to be merely to serve the false god of "diversity."

The roots of NASCAR are Southern and extremely pro-white. Confederate flags and open patriotism are standard fan attitude. It might be dangerous to introduce minorities into the mix as they are unwanted at the party. And make no mistake, every NASCAR race is a party, a huge collection of HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of white fans drinking, waving confederate flags, and listening to country music. Not exactly a warm welcoming environment for the homies. Not to worry though, you would have to force minorities to attend races at the point of a gun to get their participation. Minorities don't much attend sports where they dominate on the playing field such as basketball, and football, so it's hard to imagine a sudden love for stock car racing occurring in the minority community.

Interestingly women have been thrown into the mix of this minority discussion. Women, who are a minority nowhere in the world except in prisons, are often lumped together with blacks and Hispanics because, well frankly, their achievements and abilities also often pale in comparison to white men. So NASCAR has searched far and wide and found six drivers, one woman and five blacks to race in the lower echelons of NASCAR racing which has a number of "minor league" venues as compared to the highest profile division: the NEXTEL CUP series (previously the "Winston Cup series", but the PC police already won that war as part of the battle against cigarette advertising).

On a humorous note the NASCAR powers-that-be appointed a special representative to help in making the sport visible to minorities. The choiceâ€â€￾-Magic Johnson! Magic Johnson seems an odd choice for the position. On practical grounds Magic has been out of the public eye for a while. He hasn't been a prominent player for over 10 years which makes his visibility to the youth market limited. It is more likely he was chosen because middle aged whites remember his basketball career, which was stellar, and significant in that he presented a friendly persona and avoided arrest (unlike almost every other black basketball player). Magic was also known for his wide, happy grin, which should play well with the rednecks since they prefer their negroes with a classic "watermelon grin."

Also on the con side Magic played his career in the Sodom and Gomorrah of Los Angeles, and true to Sodom and Gomorrah behavior managed to contact the AIDS virus due to his out of control promiscuity. If all that wasn't enough to discredit his popularity with the Southern men and women that follow NASCAR, Magic also happens to be verbally challenged. He is, like many blacks from urban areas, a poor speaker of English. His short lived television talk show was regularly skewered due to his habit of communicating in ebonics. How an aging, AIDS infected, ebonics talking black person, from Hollywood (he's originally from the North) is going to mix with the ultra conservative Southerners of NASCAR is going to be a show in itself.

If one was a believer in conspiracies you might deduce that the good ol' boys that run NASCAR have decided to make a goof on political correctness and selected Magic because he will bring howls of laughter every time he addresses a crowd of NASCAR fans. Undoubtedly Magic's press conference at rural Southern locations will be amusing to say the least, however what other minority could they get even if they were serious about it? Any popular black athlete usually projects a street thug, gansta image, which would go over with NASCAR as well as a Confederate flag burning. Michael Jordan was probably busy (more likely didn't care), and older retired black athletes from the South like Hank Aaron have been bitching lately about how bad it was to live and play in the Jim Crow South so they're out of the question.

Since white fans are into having black athletes forced upon them I think they should have picked Kobe Bryant. He is well spoken, popular, and has already shown to have forced himself on a white person. Note that Caste Football will be the only place where justified criticism of racial PC in sports is aired.

Maybe whites should simply quit watching nascar. Nothing gets big buisness executives attention quite like a dropping profit margin.

NASCAR RATINGS A JOYRIDE

NASCAR's inaugural Chase for the Championship intensified a number of existing rivalries and even created one or two new ones.

Kurt Busch vs. Jimmie Johnson.

Ford vs. Chevy.

Hendrick Motorsports vs. Roush Racing.

Time vs. Mark Martin.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. vs. the world.

But one rivalry might have slipped under the odometer: NASCAR vs. the NFL.

Television ratings from the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, where Busch became the first NASCAR Nextel Cup Series champion, were the highest ever. Ever in this case being the past six years.

Still, the number of viewers watching the season finale increased dramatically, said Dick Glover, NASCAR's vice president of broadcasting and new media. Viewership was up 47 percent from a year ago for the Homestead race and the 5.6 rating and 11 share was the best overnight rating in the track's six-year history.

"It shows clearly that the goals we set out work," said Glover, who heads up NASCAR's Los Angeles office. "And it bodes well for the future. We think ratings are a lagging indicator. They are the last to catch up."

Breaking down the numbers even further, the 5.6 rating was a 24-percent improvement over Homestead's previous best rating, a 4.5 in 2002 when Tony Stewart clinched the NASCAR Winston Cup championship.

When matched against the NFL, Sunday's race at Homestead drew the highest rating of a NASCAR race against football. The previous high was a 4.7 rating for the 2003 fall race at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.

But what do all of these numbers mean?

Glover pointed to two areas. One, the new Chase for the Championship format was a success. Two, NASCAR is developing enough interest to compete with other sports, especially the NFL, and other forms of entertainment.

Nationally, NASCAR has become the No. 2 sport of choice for television viewers. Ratings show that over the course of the season, NASCAR races are watched by more television viewers than NBA games, Major League Baseball games and NHL games. Of course, women's NCAA volleyball is attracting more television viewers than the NHL presently.

Note to Gary Bettman: End the lockout.

The only sport NASCAR has yet to surpass in television ratings is the NFL. Glover said NASCAR has no illusions about overshadowing the NFL. The NFL is the envy and the admiration of the rest of professional sports, he said. But then again, he said who other than former NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle ever expected the Super Bowl to become the television monster of the sports world?

"The NFL is clearly in a class by themselves," Glover said. "We're a good, strong No. 2. That's a very strong position to be in."

It will be interesting to see if it can maintain it for another year. That's because the television contract with NBC and Turner Broadcasting runs out after the 2006 season. NASCAR has the option to extend Fox's broadcast rights until 2008. Glover wouldn't come out and say NASCAR is ready to start accepting bids for the NBC portion of the TV contract, but clearly it has become a hot commodity.

There are a number of reasons for an increase in interest. Glover pointed to how fan-friendly NASCAR is and how it is still, at its heart and soul, a family-run business.

The networks have worked hard to promote the races from week to week.

The Chase produced the closest points race in the history of the sport and even though the top-10 drivers were battling each week for the championship, two drivers out of the Chase were able to win races down the stretch.

But finally, and probably most importantly, NASCAR is extending its footprint across the nation, as Glover put it. Realignment has begun. California Speedway earned a second race. Phoenix International Raceway and Texas Motor Speedway will be getting two dates in 2005. A NASCAR Busch Series race is headed to Mexico. Tracks are in the planning stages in the Seattle area and New York City.

NASCAR is stepping out of its Southern shadow and making its mark on the country. Right now, the country, at least 11 million of them, is watching. How long is another matter.

One thing is certain: NASCAR has a full tank of gas, fresh tires and whole lot of momentum. In racing terms, things couldn't be better.

"We're happy to have success," Glover said, "and still have growth to talk about."

I am not a NASCAR fan, nothing against it, it's just not my cup of tea but I'd pay for the BEST SEATS in the house (and yours) to sit next to you when an African American driver takes the track. Well Mr. Dallas, where to start?
Firstly it is cringing to think thst our future might be determined by people such as you that feel someone else has the right to determine if another person's "arrogance and ignorance can be allowed, accepted and supported in these United States of America". Clearly we are from a different way of thinking. I believe in free speech, you do not.

Furthermore your people never attend professional sports in decent numbers. Even the NBA, 80% black has only a few percent of the fans in the seats that are black. Perhaps it is popular for blacks to watch free games on network television or in the comfort of their cell but that won't convince ANY capitialist that it is worth the time and trouble to attract them.

As for blacks taking over in hockey, HA! when will that happen. There is one "black" player of note and he is 3/4's white.

As for the Supreme Court, White House, and Congress, the very few black that are there are of the type that rigidly follow the ways of white people. There are not too many blacks that fit that mold so no one expects there to ever be many more.

As for being in the top spots in places like hospitals, that is a well known phenomenom called "tokenism". It is not based on merit merely PC politics and it too will one day end.

Blacks in America are in a favorable situation, they are boosted by whites to fit certain other peoples agendas, as you can see in africa black people are miserable failures. There in nothing here in America that will change that.

You are fighting a losing battle. Evolution will remove the weak. Your people are mentally and morally inferior as evidenced by low IQ numbers, high crime and sexual deviantcy. If AIDS does not ruin you then natural selection will.

Hey Dingleberry, I reposted that list you're referring to on the board here. I got it from another site as it was circulating around the internet. I'm not "Extra Crispus Attax" whoever that's supposed to be.

Lighten up, you're the one who's bitter here. I've probably heard at least a million derogatory jokes in my lifetime made about whites by other whites, by blacks, and by anyone else you can think of. If you can't bear to hear or read any derogatory humor about blacks, then "change the channel" as they say.

I have a question. Has any NASCAR driver had a confederate flag on his car. I have been told that NASCAR had banned the confederate flag decal on cars many years ago. Can anyone confirm this

I don't know for sure, but I do know that a car sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans was told he couldn't run at certain tracks because of the Confederate Battle flag on his car. This was within the last 3 years or so. Up until the early 80's, the winner of the Southern 500 at Darlington was given a battle flag to fly as he made his victory lap. I wouldn't doubt that during the last 10 years Bill France Jr. banned drivers from sporting Confederate Battle flag imagery, but I cannot prove it at this time. Sounds like a good research topic to me.

As for answering your question, I am sure that Nascar drivers in the past had it on their cars, but probably in the 70's or earlier.

But selling African Americans on a sport that includes fans who still wave Confederate flags on race day will take work, says NASCAR President Mike Helton.
"We believe strongly that the old Southeastern redneck heritage that we had is no longer in existence," Helton told reporters. "But we also realize that there's going to have to be an effort on our part to convince others to understand that."
The new consortium, which Congress is expected to salute in a Watt-sponsored resolution, is part of that effort. It will partner NASCAR with historically black universities and link those colleges to the Universal Technical Institute -- a multi-campus program that teaches NASCAR's technical curriculum.
Watt, who heads the Congressional Black Caucus, said NASCAR is already working with two black schools in his district -- N.C. A&T State University and Winston-Salem State University -- to "open some exciting doors" to students in technical fields such as engineering.
"When you see an industry ... start to grow," Watt said about NASCAR, "you want it to have the kind of diversity that reflects our nation."
For most of its history, the only black you saw at a NASCAR race was on the checkered flag.
The first -- and still only -- black driver to win a major race was Virginia's Wendell Scott. And that was in 1963.
"We consider him the Jackie Robinson of our sport" and have started a scholarship in his name, said NASCAR spokesman Josh Hamilton.
But in baseball, Robinson was the first of many black stars. NASCAR today has one black driver in its three major series: Bill Lester of Oakland, Calif., drives a Toyota in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Of nearly 40 NASCAR team owners, one is black and two Hispanic, including Charlotte's Felix Sabates.
Other noted African Americans -- former NFL receiver Tim Brown and the Wayans brothers of TV and movie comedy fame -- are trying to put teams together.
In recent years, NASCAR has sought paid advice from ex-NBA star Magic Johnson and former U.S. Rep. J.C. Watts, a onetime Oklahoma quarterback who emceed Wednesday's news conference.

In 2002, ESPN Sports Poll found that 8.9 percent of blacks and 8.6 percent of Hispanics identified themselves as NASCAR fans.
One way to boost that number: a superstar minority driver. It worked in golf, said Watt, where Tiger Woods changed what had been a mostly white sport.
NASCAR is trying, grooming upcoming drivers such as High Point's Chris Bristol, 28, who graduated from N.C. A&T and raced last year at Hickory Motor Speedway.
Bristol, on hand for the news conference, said he hopes to race full time next season.
As he spoke, he stood beside the car that NASCAR had used as a prop. Written on its side: "Drive for Diversity."

Does this guy ever go to a racetrack?? How can you be the President of any corporation, let alone NASCAR, and not know who is your key constinuency and consumer base?

I know its about money. They're hoping to win minority fans who will buy NASCAR stuff, and hoping to do so without loss of white dollars. From what I've seen of white fan support for the NFL and NBA, they're probably not wrong in this assumption, although I'm wondering if in this case they might not be underestimating the white fan base of NASCAR. I think they're a different kind of person than the white NBA fan.

In the meantime, I wonder when David Stern is going to preach for diversity in the NBA?

I wonder when a white player can win the MVP in the NBA without the claim he won only to appease white fans?

I wonder when Paul Tagliabue is going to preach for diversity in the NFL?

Your post is so true Bart. Whites have literally no sports or activities left to feel at home in or be themselves in. Everything is now tainted with the blight of multiculturalism. It is sad that in a place where individualism and freedom thrived for so long, the South, it is now impossible to be free from the sickening feeling having been corrupted by some money and fame hungry politician or businessman. I have been to just a few sporting events in my life where I have not felt this way.

Look at the Rousch "Gong Show" applicants, the whitest thing since the Titanic to show you how the "Diversity" thing is going.

That writer has not heard of Lewis Hamilton. In my opinion Grand prix racing is harder than NASCAR. Mind you, Mr. Hamilton is very light.

Nascars PC drive to diversify has come home to roost. I have to laugh. A black lady who was working for Nascar but had been let go is sueing Nascar for something around 12 Million for racism and of course harassment. Sexual harassment of course. Claims they called her things like "nappy headed Mo". Her name is Maurica or something like that. They claimed she had a foul mouth and said things that were improper for her position and let her go. Interesting, but as I said they asked for it.

NASCAR might end up like Indycar within a decade. Orchestrate a civil war then influx top rides with metorsexual foreign drivers (ie Castroneves, Wheldon), a couple of hottie females (Danica), and sprinkle in a black or two.
