lewis would have lost to woronin (poland) in 84 and he did lose to johnson in 88.

he was the best 200m runner in the mid 80's and a top 3 long jumper then.

however he never had the ability to crush all comers in the 100 and 200 when he was at his best as did borzov> i see bolt having the same ability to destroy anyone at 100 or 200 like borzov did.

to form a short list of all time great sprinters:

1.1928 percy williams canada (double gold and went on a barnstorm of the usa racing in 59 towns after the olympic games and beating all the best going 59-0)

2.1972 valeriy borzov ukraine ssr (double gold and went undefeated in every 100 and 200 from 1970 to 1974.

3. 1996 michael johnson us ******* (double gold in 200 and 400 and undefeated for 2 years in both events.

wariner may join the list if he becomes the only man in history to win 3 straight sprint golds and if he breaks the world record in the 400m

bolt has a chance to join the list if he doubles and dominates for a couple years>

Wariner won again today in Stockholm in a time of 44.29! He was never pushed and Merritt was not in the race. Jeremy looks to be ready for the olympics. He has rolled off 3 wins in a row now and 2 in a row over Merritt. He will be just fine come olympic time. I just want him to break the world record. The media would be left speechless.

No we don't now that Andrew Rock switched events. They used to be a hell of a 1-2 punch. All I know is that Wariner has the weight of the world on his shoulders to win an olympic gold medal. Some people thrive on presure and Wariner usually does. I just hope that not having Coach Hart there doesn't cost him a chance at being considered the greatest 400 meter runner of all time.Edited by: white lightning

Martin Rooney(England), Johan Wissman(Sweden), and David Gettis(Ireland) all have a good chance of making the 400 Finals of the Olympics. Rooney and Wissman have both run in the mid to high 44 second range.

There are a few others but these guys along with Wariner are the best of the bunch in my opinion.

Andrew Rock has switched events to the 400 Hurdles and will not be going to the olympics. It's very strange and the switch came at the last second with no warning. Good luck to him but alot of us here question the move.

"This article is loaded with information about Wariner's split with coach
Hart and contains lots of interesting side isues."
BART

thanks, good reading.

Each issue has its merits I'm sure, but I find myself wondering why he
offered Hart anything by way of a contract if he didn't want him as coach
any more.

THE 400H is so very weak at this time and it is the only event that american ******** could win in the olympics in sprints/hurdles and jumps>
so rock may be capable of being at the top, where as in the 400 he is a level below wariner.
perhaps he and his coaches feel he has a good shot at being number one in the world> he has the 400m speed and the size/style of stride and foot movement to do so< as well as lots of ******* americans to practice against

I was at the grocery store today and I went by the magazine rack. ESPN the magazine had a big special on the olympics. There is a good article on Jeremy Wariner with pictures. It is pretty fair overall. I think I might buy the magazine to have as a collectors item. One thing it said in the article is that with his 7 sub 44 second times, Wariner already has more than anyone in history! He wants the world record and I still think he is capable of it. I hope that at the least he can repeat as the olympic champion and lower his personal best again. Good luck to Wariner and the US Team.

Yes, I'm hoping for a new p.b. and gold medal. The world record is kind freakish.

Wariner is on the cover of Boy's Life with a good article and lots of pictures. The local movie theater had a commercial for the Olympics before the movie and featured Wariner along with other US athletes.

Personlly I think Wariner has the chance to get favorable publicity because he has adopted a racially neutral look. He doesn't scream "white" with his near bald head and frequent wearing of dark sunglasses, and seems to be well tanned. He could easily pass as mixed race which is A-OK with the media.

I so totally agree with you on this one and have long thought that myself about Wariner. I hate the shaved head look on a White athlete and the tanned look as well. When the public sees Wariner take gold in the 400, I don't want any of them wondering for a second whether he is white or not. Every white athlete should have a full head of hair as long as it doesn't get in the way of whatever sport they are in.

His look is similar to Charlie Greene from Mexico City. It's a wiggerish look that's not for me, but I'm not the Orwellian Thought Police. He doesn't look like he is partially black to me, but then again whenever a trend setter has a trace of black ancestry he is blacker than the ace of spades and is going where no man has gone before...

I did read a story that his mother was saying because he has a trace of aboriginal ancestry that could be the reason why he runs like the wind.Edited by: white is right

His mother is not too bright then, at least on that topic anyway. Wariners athleticism needs no explanation. It's his white genetics, believing in himself and hard work.

I think it was just her way of modestly saying that she had no inkling that her son would be such a phenom, with neither she nor her hubby being exceptional athletes. I think that was the context, assuming the article I read was the same.

However, I agree with you that her statement doesn't make sense; why would the Indian genes suddenly kick in when the offspring is 1/64 aboriginal rather than 1/32nd? I suppose most on this site would see this as further evidence of a white inferiority complex when it comes to athleticism. I agree with this sometimes, but sometimes I think it is because white people look at other races as closer to beasts --- and thus suitable for training to run and other athletic feats that are not overly complex. I don't mean this in a bad way, just simply that one tends to maybe pamper their own people a little bit sometimes; and also doesn't see the sense of training their own people like a horse when there are better options available in which to make a livelihood.

Excellent points. I do think whites have a inferiority complex in regards to sports. I certainly did before I discovered this site a few years ago. I honestly did believe we were inferior and it drove me bananas trying to find something to disprove that notion. I checked out so many books on eugenics and past white athletic accomplishments at a library in Dallas about 15 years ago that they must have been wondering what I was up to. I just wanted proof which I found here that we are just as good as everyone else. Not interested in being a superior race but I don't want to be inferior either.

How many native americans have been great sprinters? It is his white genetics that give Wariner his smooth and elite speed. There have been many great white 400 meter white sprinters over the years that have run in the low to mid 44 second range. Wariner just happens to be the best of the bunch and he is also the best on the planet. He will break the world record not because he's white, but because he is extremly talented and he trains as hard as anyone in the world. He is driven and he disproves all the skeptics and the dumb myths about whites not being able to run fast. Wariner is the King of the 400 Meters! The greatest 400 meter sprinter in the history of the world!

Same thing here. I would never have tried track and field if not for this site.
