Not exactly a good match, but Thompson is big and awkward and Klitschko finally got the knockout.

I'm sure big boxing has now been permanently jettisoned from the American sports dialog, and any discussion of boxing from this point forward will involve shoving 130 pound midgets down our throats.

I agree with the second part. The only coverage we will eve see on ESPN will now be focusing on Pacquiao.

The fight was good IMO. Thompson has an akward style, and knowing this beforehand made the fight very interesting. Klitschko really outclassed Thompson, and once again proves that he is the current best heavyweight in the world!

Wladimir dominated him and took him out. Thompson fought much better than I expected(A blowout win for Wlad) so kudos to him. I cheer for our fighters but I give credit where credit is due although I don't like the fake injuries he was trying to pull ala Hopkins

Wladimir's haters will probably still criticize him. Ask them to get in the ring with a awkward 6'5 southpaw.

100% true post. BTW, Wlad's haters have already started. There's a slew of them on boxrec, and they are already claiming (keep in mind that many of them picked Thompson) that Haye will now expose Klitschko, and that Wlad will never risk fighting David Haye. It's actually hilarious the amount of hate and delusion these Klitschko haters have.

Bottom line: Klitschko dominates Thompson, and another "great black hope" fails to live up to the unreasonable standard ("beat a white Heavyweight") that the media sets for them.

Another KO win for Wladimir, against a very durable mandatory opponent who had never been knocked down before!

Based on Wlad's past fights I thought he was much more measured in this fight. I think he was wary of the southpaw, but after the halfway point it was clear he would win the fight. Hopefully he can get back intorhythm with his next fight. Congrats to the WBO, IBF, and IBO World Heavyweight Champion!

We all know you feel that way because you were rooting for Thompson!

I feel that way because boxing is far less interesting than MMA and kickboxing, though I still watch boxing matches for belts.

Every single K-1 event is more exciting than that match. Every single one.

I only watched the first three rounds before I went on to do other things, so I can't speak for the rest of the fight. But I felt Thompson won the first round (so did Emmanuel Steward), and Wlad the second two, but Wlad was definitely less than convincing in those three rounds. Wlad seemed to clinch at every opportunity, and Thompson only has 19 KO's in 31 fights. I was thinking that Wlad looked like an MMA fighter with a background in Greco-Roman wrestling.

I didn't know Thompson had never been knocked down before. Kinda takes the edge off my disappointment that it took Wladimir 11 rounds to put him away. I expected him to win this one easily in the first few rounds of the fight.

Good win for Wlad!! Another black hope bites the dust-There have been many-Guinn, Williamson, Chambers, Harrison, Brewster, Thompson, Austin, Briggs, Bryd, Brock, McCline, Peter, Tann, Holyfield Etc, Etc. Now David Haye and Chris Arreola are there black and brown hopes despite the fact that they have fought no one of note.
The jock sniffers will try Rahman, Toney, Ruiz or Grant one more time hoping they can turn things around-BUT with Povetkin, Boytsov, Chagaev, Valuev or even Minto it's like hoping Kenya will win a gold medal in ice hockey.

Like we're all said many times before, Wlad is unbeatable. He has the amazing ability to remain very cautious until his random black bum of an opponent starts letting thier gaurd down. Then the STEEL HAMMER falls! Nice win, Klitschko! Hopefully your brother will eventually get HIS belt back.

Was it an impressive KO?

First congrats to Wlad for putting another "American Negro Hope" to rest. I haven't seen the fight yet, so I can't give an assessment to Wlad's win. But bottom line is that he got a KO over an opponent who was never KO'D.

Nevada, at times you offer insightful posts, but your lack of enthusiasm for white fighter is weird. And you putting down a respectable and hall of famer fighter like Pacman is also weird. Your comments about him being a miget is just childish and dumb. I suspect if you got in the ring with him, he would beat your ass, even if you were 6' tall and 190 lbss.

I'm glad Wlad is a cautious fighter. Better to bide time and wait for the right moment then to rush in and get clobbered. What would we say then?Did anyonenotice it wasJoe Cortez in that blue shirt? Holy mackeral!Vlad had to be extremely careful! Come on guys enjoythevictory.

Seems Povetkin is up next if he wins his next fight.

I still don't want to see Wlad and Povetkin fight, but it seems highly likely. Povetkin fights Sykes next Saturday, an easy win for Alexander. There are just so many good white Heavyweights now, that we will probably see more high profile fights between white fighters.

Yes, that pic works great! Awesome end to the fight! Thompson was so tired and whipped I almost felt bad for him, almost.
