this is regarding collegiate fast pitch softball, but i thought it worthy of note ...

North Texas senior Hope Trautwein pitched a “perfect” perfect game, striking out all 21 batters she faced in a seven-inning win against hbcu University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. it is believed to be the only time in history that a perfect game has seen every batter strike out. (although two other pitchers have struck out 21 batters in a seven-inning game before, neither was in a perfect game.)

apparently, she has some NASTY stuff, because this is the second time this season that Trautwein struck out 21 batters (she also did so in this season’s opener), though on the other occasion she did give up 5 hits and 2 runs. she also has two other no-hitters to her credit.

That’s impressive. There have been some good submarine pitchers in MLB. Why not go full underhand? If a woman can pitch a softball over 70 mph, I’m pretty sure a man could whip it up there in the 90s.
