How does this old fool continue to get a baseall job? Cincinnati has hired him to be their new manager. Please!

Dusty Baker is a truly stupid evil man. If he were white and said things that he has said he would have been placed in the trash bin many years ago.Edited by: Skipperron

Competitive altruism may explain the situation,it's the same in the business world.Everyone is falling all over themselves to put non whites in positions of leadership, and it does not matter if they are qualified or not.

The telling part is that Baker got a three year deal,no waiting to see how it goes from year to year,he can't lose and he knows it,if the Reds are not satisfied after two years, they can fire him,and buy out that third year.

By that time, more teams will be looking to "ethnically cleanse"White men from positions of power and leadership, just as in the business world,so the picture gets a bit clearer as to what lies in store for White baseball managers, coaches, players etc.

Back to the business world, same situation, the picture gets clearer there also, and that White male who worked so hard, and spent so much money on a college education will be replaced and humiliated,as he is fed to the gods of "diversity"!

It's all about reversing the positions of the races, and if it can't be done through correct procedure, fairness, and hard work, well, the global elite will just "socially engineer"it.

I miss Marge Schott. The Reds prospered during her reign. Now Dr. Dusty will guarantee continuing misery for Reds fans. The Reds have a few very good White players. Maybe they will migrate to White-friendlier teams.

Baseball always recycles old managers over and over, now that it's diversity time the same thing will happen with the AA managers. Frank Robby, Felipe Alou, and Baker will be working until they die. They had to beg both Robinson and Alou to manage the last time they were hired and both are old as dirt. Baker being younger will manage until about 2050

I have already seen articles being put out about how he is not a racist, losing old manager who blows out pitchers arms. He has gotten a bad rep from people who FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON just don't like him.

I remember Wills' short-lived tenure as manager of the Mariners. He had to be the most unqualified and incompetent man ever to be a manager or head coach in a pro sports league.

This doesn't really deserve its own post, so I'll mention it here (because it does involve black managers).
I was watching Baseball Tonight earlier and they were discussing the Yankees job opening now that Torre has turned them down. Buster Olney mentioned (let slip?) that Emperor Selig has an unwritten rule requiring teams to interview minorities for managing positions whenever one comes open. So, even if they knew exactly who they wanted (LaRussa, for example), they couldn't hire him without first interviewing a black manager for the position.
My feelings about Selig are well known. But this is a disgusting new low. Affirmative Action laws don't even require that level of draconian oversight. It's time for Bud and his Dictatorial Synagogue of Baseball Kings to get the hell out of my beloved sport.

That's no worse then football which has a committee that REQUIRES it and punishes violators with fines and loss of draft choices. It's a charade anyway. But I agree it is completely pitiful.

Several years back when the Pirates were close to hiring their new manager something like this happened. The word was the Pirates were going with Richie Hebner as their man, just the contracts to be signed. Then Selig called, mentioned that they WILL INTERVIEW a black man and the next thing you know Lloyd McClendon was the pick instead of Hebner. This was written about in several papers so it was not just something someone made up. Also recently Jim Tracy was fired after 2 dismal years, however McClendon was even worse but survived 5 years. Wonder why? McClendon was one of the worst and dumbest managers I have ever seen but he lasted a lot longer than Tracy FOR SOME REASON. Hmmmmm What could it have been?Edited by: Skipperron

Skipperon-I suffered for years with McClendon as the Bucs manager. It was kinda like they had to hire him and then keep him on the job for a few years just to prove we've had a black manager, reminiscent of when the Steelers had to keep Kordell Stewart as the QB long after it was clear that he couldn't get the job done.

The Pirates are too screwed up right now to lure him away from Detroit, but I'd like to see Andy Van Slyke get a chance as Pittsburgh's manager a couple of years from now. Whoever they bring in next year will have a tough time duplicating the 67 wins or so of Jim Tracy the past two years.

At least it can't be Dusty Baker. One good thing about Duhsty getting the Reds job is that I won't have to listen to him on TV anymore.

Amen on the fact we don't have to worry about Dusty Baker, sal_paradise. And now we hear that Huntington supposedly had Baker on his list of manager candidates for the Pirates. Thank you Cincinnati.

And I would like to see Andy Van Slyke also or maybe Jay Bell. But it looks more like Huntington will go for Farrell, Lovullo or some other Cleveland connected guy. Maybe Joel Skinner.

I'd like to see Van Slyke managing in Pittsburgh too, but it would probably be best if it came a few years down the road.Pittsburgh has major problems to fix, and the fixes are not going to come overnight.

I don't get theDusty Baker hiring, either. The Reds will waste a few more years under an incompetent manager. Theydon't have muchof a GM as well. Seems like the guy is addicted to picking up mediocre relief pitchers, similar to Littlefield when he was the Pirates GM.
