Well Brandon Minor, or whatever his name is, is the other highly regarded recruit (still a sophomore I believe) that could interfere with Sam's chances and he is sucking..fumblitis/3 and change per carry. Sam will be coming in with a lot of exposure and will get a chance IMO. If he doesn't get a chance I am giving up completely at ever seeing a white featured runner in the NFL any time soon. The guy is simply too good to get screwed.Edited by: ToughJ.Riggins

Btw, Sam is still too hurt to play this week (IMO, it was definitely a mean-spirited tackle meant to cause injury). He also won't be playing next week because they have an open date. Gonna be a while before we hear anything about him.

What is Sam's injury and how was it a cheap tackle?...refresh my memory if you don't mind. I wouldn't doubt the truth to that, I am sure that a black if he was mean spirited and racist would want nothing better then to lay the smack down on a breakaway white RB.

High ankle sprain.
Horse collar tackle and a hard throw down.
Same thing that screwed up Darren McFadden's leg last year late in the season.
To the best of my knowledge, it's not an illegal play in Texas high school football, but it is in the NFL. It's the same the as a poke in the eye. Yeah, it'll take a guy down and nobody is going to throw a flag for it. But you have to be trying to do it in order to execute it.

Well Sam got injured on a horsecollar tackle in the 2nd quarter. He looked ok but didn't see any more action the rest of the day. The African-American RB backup looked okay but Sam was the difference-maker and the backup fumbled at the goal line. That cost Cy-Fair the game. A bit of a let down but not a bad game.

Yeah I watched it on TV and it did look bad. Hopefully Sam will recover quickly.

Sam is ranked the #10 recruit overall in the country this year, and is #3 on Tom Lemming's RB list. He is listed as running a 4.3, which is faster than all other running backs in Lemming's top 25 RBs.

I was watching the colts game the other day and when Addai did a great jump for a goaline score they said he looked like Sam McGuffie! This kids legend is growing already, and he is still in HS!

RIVALS.COM SUCKS!! Sam originally was left off of the Rivals Top 100 ranked at #123 on the Top 250 list. Apparently they caught some flak for that so in their next revision of the list Sam moved up to #90 in the Top 100. Well, now Rivals revises their list again and Sam drops all of the way to #197. WTF???

Rivals Top 250

I follow Texas HS football pretty closely and to look at the players listed in front of Sam from Texas leaves me scratching my head. Sure there are some good players but none are dominant, record setting players. I am sure the same can be said about the players listed from other states. It must be that these other players have more "potential". What a bunch of BS!

I just looked on Rivals.com after reading the last post and Sam is listed as the No.1 all purpose back in the country.

That's sounds great and all until you realize that there are 14 RB listed in front of Sam in the Top 250 list, including Jeremy Hills, who is ranked as the #2 all purpose back. It just doesn't make any sense.

Of all of those 14 RBs, McGuffie has more yards, TDs, better 40 time, better vertical jump, better shuttle time. Any measurable, and Sam wins, yet there are 14 RBs rated higher. Rivals, Scout.com, and caste Div 1 coaches are the biggest obstacles to white high school athletes getting to the "next level". Until these guys start rating white athletes on objective criteria, then I will keep exposing their "inconsistencies".

Wow, I'm surprised that Rivals can even get away with this w/ how many people have seen Sam's videos on Youtube without losing credibility. Every area Sam is in the top two of his H.S class except yards per carry. His athletic measurables are off the chart.

This is truly sickening. It's obvious that it is only Sam's skin color that is keeping him down in their rankings. Sam looks to be improving his yards per carry this year which was the only area where he lagged behind the 3 5 star RB recruits and it was not by much in that category either. Sam is absolutely a 5 star recruit in my mind. I would put him at number two behind Darrell Scott on the RB list.

Scout.com at least has Sam as the number 6 RB and has Sausan Shakerin at number 7. And Tom Lemming has Sam as the third best RB in the nation. Rivals does suck, I would never even think of subscribing to their site!

RIVALS.COM now has Sam as the FIFTH ALL PURPOSE BACK.... I cant even
believe this crap.

Unbelieveable.

Sam is the FASTEST high school football player in the country and he
posts the BEST production yet he is not even the best APB.

If this isn't obvious BIAS then I don't know what is.

Sam is now ranked 20th among all running backs. No white man will ever
have a chance. I give up. How fast must he be before he gets a good
ranking. Fastest in the nation is apparently not fast enough.

f**k them, Sam's got his scholarship already and people will see first hand what he can do, making these stupid rankings look absolutely bogus.

this link still has him listed as number 1?

anyways, i compared scout to rivals, and for example rivals has only 5 white players out of best 10 TE rankigs, whereas scout.com has 8.
on the other hand rivals does list Sam's real 40 time, 4'32 as opposed to scout's 4'4.Edited by: backrow

Sam's team won 28-21 in overtime last night.
Sam had 281 yards on 32 carries. 4 rushing touchdowns including the game winner in overtime.
Fans of the team are openly concerned. They claim the coach is running him to death. His number is called on every snap. Came up with a limp last night. Same ankle as the previous injury.

Here is a good blog about Sam. Rivals should read it.

http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/53835

I have news for you Wolverines fans, you are likely getting the best prospect regardless of position in the 2008 recruiting class. I don't care what Rivals.com or any other analyst out there says, there is nobody in the 2008 that is blessed with the athletic ability and football talent of Sam McGuffie. McGuffie was somehow left off the previous Rivals100, Rivals.com list of the top 100 prospects for the 2008 recruiting class. There could be no bigger mistake by the staff at Rivals.com...those folks do tremendous work there and have an excellent database of prospects, which I'm constantly viewing, but leaving Sam McGuffie off the Rivals100 list was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever seen. This kid is no secret, his highlights are plastered all over YouTube. Check out his highlights below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4IJ17ODo_s

Honestly, even Hellen Keller could see that McGuffie is one of the top 10 prospects in the country, forget about the top 100!
smiley36.gif
They recently updated their list and have McGuffie listed at four-stars and as the 90th best prospect in the nation. If I was making the list, McGuffie would be rated as five stars and ranked as the top player in the class of 2008, simply because of his freakish athletic ability and his mind-boggling statistics. I think the only reason Rivals.com didn't rate him higher is because of his size. That is their opinion and they are entitled to it. Evaluations and rankings of prospects are pretty hard, because evaluations differ so drastically from person-to-person, but I find it hard to believe they couldn't find a 5-star rating for Sam McGuffie. You simply will not find another running back on this planet with his superhuman skill set.

McGuffie will make an instant impact of Michigan in the fall of 2008, because Chad Henne and Mike Hart will be graduating after the 2007-2008 football season and the Ryan Mallett and Sam McGuffie era will officially begin in Ann Arbor.

Why do I say McGuffie is an Internet legend? Well one video of his Rivals.com highlights has over 55,000 views!! That's unreal folks. Even more unreal is the fact that "The Play" as it is now deemed by some analysts, where McGuffie leaps directly over an opposing defensive back in the open field is on YouTube and has been viewed an eye-popping 567,205 times! The kid has already reached rock star status and he hasn't even begun his senior season at Cy-Fair. His highlights labeled as the McGuffie Mixtape on YouTube have been viewed 463,269 times!

That tells you one, how amazing of a talent this kid is, and two, how popular that glorious game of pigskin is in America. McGuffie is the best white running back I've ever seen and is a white version of Reggie Bush. McGuffie's athletic measurables are off-the-charts. He's listed at 6'0, 188 lbs. runs a 4.32 40 yard dash and has a 41 inch vertical leap. Blessed with an amazing amount of acceleration, "Sam I am" McGuffie, can turn on the jets, blast his way through the hole with ease and coast to the end zone. This kid slices his way through opposing defenses like a hot knife slices through butter. When he's not breaking tackles in the open field, McGuffie can also be seen breaking defenders akles with his jaw-dropping agility. His tremendous change of direction reminds me very much of Reggie Bush. This kid can stop on a dime without hesitation. He is also blessed with Reggie Bush's leaping ability and you will often see him leaping over defenders in his highlights. The Cy-Fair standout is also blessed with an amazingly soft pair of hands, racking up 400 receiving yards last season as a junior.

Last season, he gashed opposing defenses for a hair-raising 3,121 yards on the ground and 43 touchdowns. The numbers are so good they almost aren't believable, that is, until you watch his highlights. He averaged 8.7 yards per carry on the ground last season and even had 400 receiving yards. I'm convinced this kid was a cyborg sent from outerspace to carry the pigskin. He can do no wrong. It's a bird, it's a plane, no wait, ladies and gentlemen, it's Sam McGuffie!

In all my years of following high school football, I've never seen a SPARQ rating like this kid. He has the highest SPARQ rating I've ever seen. When I saw he scored a 104.85 on the SPARQ test, I simply could not believe my eyes. Three words: freak of nature!

To give you an idea of how good McGuffie's SPARQ rating truly is, let's take a look at the numbers of running back Covaughn DeBoskie, another member of the 2008 recruiting class. Like McGuffie, DeBoskie is an all-purpose back with remarkable hands and speed in the open field. He is a very highly rated tailback as well, earning 4-stars from Rivals.com heading into his senior season for Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona. DeBoskie's measurables are: he's (6'0, 186 lbs.), runs a 4.48 forty yard dash, runs a 4.46 in the shuttle, put up 11 bench press reps, and his vertical leap is 37 inches. This kid is certainly no slouch, as his numbers indicate. His SPARQ rating was 78.27. McGuffie's rating was nearly 27 points higher than that! Ladies and gentlemen we might want to give the government a call, because Sam McGuffie might just be an alien sent from outerspace to carry the pigskin!

For many of you out there that do not know what SPARQ is. It is a combine-testing system that crunches a bunch of numbers and basically determines how good of an athlete a football player is from four categories: forty time, bench press repititions, shuttle, and vertical leap. There is a link on the SPARQ website at: http://sparqtraining.com/ratings/sparqulator2/test_results.p hp that will take you to a Sparqulator if you wish to calculate your own SPARQ rating.

Sam McGuffie's legendary status will only continue to grow this season as he continues to leap defenders in the open field with tremendous ease. By the time he arrives in Ann Arbor, the fans there will likely already have him penciled in as the Heisman front-runner for 2008.

This is a perfect example of how deep the caste system is entrenched. Here we have a young white player with freakish athletic ability. Every stereotype is broken. Too slow? No. Can't jump? No. Lacks wiggle? No. Too small? No. Fumbles too much? No. Lack's production? No. There are no excuses, yet Rivals continues to dismiss him.

If Sam can't get a fair shake from Rivals, how is any other white RB going to get a fair shake?

The Rivals time is SPARQ. SPARQ is hand-timed. Hand-timing reaction is notoriously unreliable, and shaves .10 to .15 off of a start. Probably all of thosehigh-school 40's are hand-timed.

Scout gave Jahvid Best, the fastest 100 meter high school seniorlast year, a 4.4 also.
