I wish there was some video of Beatty in high school.
Some of those 'track nuts' must have brought a video camera to the meets.

Yes, this is an absolutely incredible time for a girl who just turned 17 in May!
And she crushed the competition, winning by over a full second.
Really, it's amazing!

She's already world class with that time as a high school athlete, does anybody have a clue what her 100m pb is? With more maturation and experience she should be contending for a medal at majors within a year or two.

I'm pretty sure it's a 11.31 but she will improve on that time in the near future. She just turned 17! Incredible sprinter and very pretty as well.

11.31 and selected to run that event in July for GB

Imagine being 17 and 1 month old and getting no.3 best 200 time in Britain all-time. Incredible!

according to the posted article above, she has an 11.31 to her credit in the 100-meters and has already been selected to run in the European u20 Championships over that distance in July. an eye-popping talent, without a doubt. and did anyone else notice (or would be surprised) that she began her track and field career as a middle distance runner before someone “realized” she could run the sprints?

A name for next year, junior Ryan Mulholland.
He had the 2nd fastest qualifying time in the Calif HS State Championships, 10.48.
He took 3rd in the final, with 10.53, the same time as 2nd place.

Mulholland competed in the Prefontaine Classic high school 100 meters yesterday and came in fourth with a 10.60 time. As noted above he has run faster.

Someone we missed who has been having a great season, is Claire Bryant of Houston (like Matthew Boling).
She won the US U20 Long Jump Championship and just won the Pan Am U20 Long Jump Championship. And she's only a junior!
Last year, as a sophomore, she was Texas 6A State Champ in the Long Jump, and took 3rd in the High Jump!
This year she was 2nd in Long Jump at the Texas State Champs.
Someone to really keep an eye on next year as a senior.

A further note on Gavin Schurr....his US #1, 6.73 would have been the 4th fastest time in the country for the 2020 indoor season.
(Since he ran it this December it's considered part of the 2021 indoor season).

He is also the US #1 in the 200m with a time of 21.28. That would have been the #3 time for the 2020 indoor season.

Another sprinter to keep an eye on is Anthony Smith from Seattle.
He ran time trials this past May, of 10.44 in the 100m (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPAmINH8jQCEssq3pGZFIHDIrtxEt-D-b),
and 20.94 in the 200m (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPAmINH8jQCE1mZgWUEwLOJaqvGNZGxdk).
He has also run 48.05 in the 400m!
So he is a fantastic all around sprinter.
Here's a thorough article about him -- https://www.milesplit.com/articles/285974/a-major-breakthrough-led-anthony-smith-to-his-dream-school

Gavin Schurr and Anthony Smith went head to head in the 100m and 200m this past June, with Schurr coming out on top in both races.
Here's their 200m race --- https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=296893218115673

Thanks for all of the great updates jacknyc. I have been slacking on the track as of lately with so much football to report on and not enough posters. I appreciate the updates at track and field is
one of my favorite sports in the world. I wish more americans could appreciate it. Really excited to hear about Anthony Smith and Gavin Schurr. Love to see new white sprinters from around the
world but it's extra sweet when they are from here. I'm hoping Matthew Boling will make many more white kids take up sprinting!

Impressive time by Jenna - but also such a great and confident communicator. Maybe a career in commentary after a stellar track career?

Gavin Schurr ran a very impressive 20.84 200m (indoors!), against an invitational field of the country's best sprinters. He came in 2nd, but his time is the 4th fastest all-time indoors for a high schooler.
Can't wait to see what he can do outdoors this season!
