CM hardly had any carries in the second half, all carries up the middle......What a crappy game plan.....Newton looked terrible.....What’s up with Norv? God aweful football....

Kuechly and Christian played their asses off. Clearly the best two players on the Panthers.

P.S. I was going to watch the post game show but had to turn it off after they showed the same mud shark commercial for the 80th time.......

How many players have had 50+ yards passing, rushing, and receiving in a game?

On Newton - saw on PFF the other day that he has been the fourth or fifth worst grades QB in the league over the last five weeks, only ahead of Driskel, McCown (back ups), Rosen (rookie) and somebody else. And this game was just about the worst of the lot! Time to draft a QB for the Panthers I’m thinking. Not getting anywhere with Newton who has been a bust aside from one year where they failed to get to the promised land.

ESPN radio just reported that there must be something wrong with Newton's throwing shoulder. So we should expect Taylor Heinicke under center next weekend, right?

Backrow is right what a weird game. Is it me or has the site gone very quiet apart from some active members? For example is Don on hiatus?

Anyway did anyone catch CM cursing at the end of the game?

Two or more questions have to be asked. Has Rivera used up his time at Carolina and with new ownership they may want to let him go. I am very conservative when it comes to firing coaches who win on a consistent basis but perhaps things have gotten too stale in Carolina. Rivera will find another HC job if he is fired.

I have been more lenient on Newton than most at this site but last night he was horrific. If Newton was not injured last night the answer is a swift yes to having him replaced for good. He does a reasonably good job in feeding CM the ball but without Olsen as a security blanket he seems lost. Yes he is saddled with an atrocious group of WRs, none who can catch a deep ball, but even giving him the benefit of the doubt at this juncture it is tough to envision Carolina with Newton at the helm becoming a real contender.

And if they ride him some more next season the leash has to be shorter than it was this season.

Based on what we saw Newton had no business starting last night and that falls on the HC.



Their mediocre defense played decent last night but they are way too old and LB Thomas Davis who played well in spots last night, showed his age on a key 4th down play down the stretch.

Carolina is sadly a team in a downward transition which is a shame because Kuechly, who was magnificent last night, along with CM, are two of easiest players to root hard for in the NFL. They have a lot of holes to fill on defense and need a field stretching TE and better WRs.
CM and Kuechly are two players you can build around but when there are so many holes to fill in it won't be easy.

As for the Saints after a several week dry spell Taysom Hill exploded for a key 17 yard burst. He looks better than three quarters of the RBs currently playing in the NFL. Last week he blocked a punt at a key moment and last night tossed in a tackle on special teams. Hopefully teams notice this and start recruiting their own "all around do everything white player." Heck even CM is catching the fever with a nifty TD pass. Ha.

LBs Anzalone and Klein stood out last night and have been solid all year. Anzalone smashed CM on one play. White on white crime makes me wince.

But Kuechly is something else. Last night he made several plays that left me in awe. One of the greatest LBs to ever play the game.

Due to wanting to see CM go over 1,000 yards rushing last night, I did a rare thing for me: I watched almost the entire game. I've watched most Panthers game on TV or online this season (because of CM) and in recent weeks Newton has been rancid throwing the ball. The injuries excuse brought forward by the Kosher, Marxist ESPN Caste-toads might be true to a small degree. But let's be clear, Cam has always had trouble with accuracy, even when he's 100% healthy. Check out what Kelvin Benjamin said about his accuracy issues. I bet ESPN types never reported it.

ESPN currently has the worst booth in Monday Night history and that's saying a lot when you consider Dan Dierdorf, Mike Tirico and Tony Kornheiser and other lightweights sat in the same chairs....Jason Witten is the only worth a darn and he's not even that good, yet. But he pointed an egregious mistake Cam made last night, which shows how clueless Newton really is:

End of the first half, one timeout left and Cam needs to hurry with about 35 seconds left. Runs for a first down and gets it. Instead of getting up, setting the offense and immediately spiking it or running a play, he gets up and runs forward and gives the trite "first down signal"....this costs the team 4 to 6 seconds. After that he starts arguing/jawing with Anzalone, costing his team another 4 to 5 seconds. After seeing this, Rivera is forced to call a timeout. Bad shoulder or not, he's been around long enough to know better than to waste 10 or more seconds at a critical juncture. I guess sometimes you can't fix stupid?

After I looked up what Benjamin said about Newton (basically that he wishes he was paired with a better, more accurate QB such as Rodgers, Manning or Big Ben, he named those three specifically) I found this in the same article:

"Completion percentage isn't always the best way to measure accuracy, but it is worth noting that Newton's career completion percentage sits at just 58.5 percent. Among 58 quarterbacks with at least 16 total starts from 2011-17, Newton ranks 48th in completion percentage around the likes of Blake Bortles, Matt Cassel, EJ Manuel, and Mark Sanchez. Newton's been erratic, but that doesn't make him a bad quarterback. He just happens to be a very good, but flawed player. "

now, if we take away Olsen and McCaffrey and some of the tough catches those two made for Newton recently, we have more of a complete outlook (having said that, Panthers receivers seem like a particularly lousy pass catchers).

The time to get rid of newton was when he pulled that stunt at the interview after that super bowl a few years ago - not to mention his quitting on the team during the game.

Cam Newton, Jameis Winston, and Sam Bradford were all drafted #1 overall, all have had some level of success in their careers, and all have had struggles that overshadowed their successes. Yet while Bradford is considered a bust by "mainstream" sports media, Newton and Winston are almost universally considered unquestionable franchise quarterbacks by those same media. This is yet another example of black privilege. Both Newton and Winston are playing far, far below the level one should expect from the #1 overall pick. (So was Bradford, of course, because we're fair here at Caste Football). But Newton and Winston aren't getting called out for it by the DWFs.

If the NFL was majority white, as it would be if players were evaluated fairly, white on white crime would be common, so I don't mind seeing it.

Does anyone remember the last time in the NFL that a white WR faced off against a white CB? Jason Sehorn, the last white CB, played in a "dark" period for white WRs...still, he probably did at some point?

That'd actually be something I'd be interested to see.

Investigating Sehorn a bit, I came across this thread, Giants fans in 2015 still remembering him fondly as best athlete on the team (some saying ever) and their only real shut down corner in recent history.

It could be both, he is approaching 30 and has barrelled into linebackers and safeties for most of his career. His arm strength is that of a faded veteran who is approaching 40.

I'm not sure if it's because of an injury to the arm or because he could be worn out. Either way Rivera needs a set of cajones to sit Newton until he gets healthy, Newton's lack of arm strength visibly hurt Carolina on Monday night and severely limits the Panthers offense.

As others have alluded Rivera has hooked his wagon to Newton and may be thrown under the bus because of it. I don't even think he would have a mutiny if he had sat Newton when the tailspin began if he explained why to the locker room. Nobody wants a wasted season when you're in the hunt for a playoff spot.

I would say scam issues are injury related. My guess is that he played all year through the injury. Andrew Luck did the smart thing and took the whole year off to rehab from surgery and is back to being a top 5 qb. Scams reluctance to sit and recover has probably taken years off his career.

Remember early in the season when they took Luck out so Brissett could throw the Hail Mary and the media made a huge deal over it? I saw a very different response whe Heinicke was brought in to do the same thing for the Panthers. The media was protecting scam but was questioning whether Luck was even the best qb on his team - the media loves controlling the narrative as it sees fit for their agenda.

Newton did look horrible. Now he's out for the rest of the season. Too late to help the team. I hope the backup lights it up.

Best news Panthers fans could have received, talk about an early Christmas present!!

Panthers should trade sCam for most they can get and go after Flacco. Perfect qb for Rivera’s style of offense. Flacco will not overshadow Cmac as Cmac will be what Gurley and Gordon are to their respective offenses.
